I am writing this letter as a business executive, consultant, and professor at Baker
College to recommend Emily Deska as an intern.
During my many years of teaching and as a business consultant and executive, I have
been exposed to many students. I have come to learn that there are specific
characteristics that are common to those you exceed expectations in almost everything
they do. That is the drive, perseverance, motivation, intellect, and exceptional
interpersonal skills to meet her educational goals. As a student at Baker College, Ms.
Deska possesses these characteristics.
Ms. Deska takes an independent approach to learning and self-direction. She excels at
getting started in each course and staying on schedule to meet her educational goals.
She demonstrates self-discipline, goal orientation, and the ability to work independently
in her studies. Her ability to quickly analyze complex information and synthesize into
meaningful reasoning and sound logic are continuously demonstrated in her
assignments. Ms. Deska prioritizes her time to meet deadlines and all other
assignments in a prompt manner.
It is clear that Emily possesses exceptional interpersonal skills as demonstrated by her
interaction and engagement in her coursework. She knows how to challenge other
students respectfully and to communicate with a balanced and professional tone.
Because of the nature of education toady, Ms. Deska is exposed to a diverse population
of colleagues. She takes the professional approach to discussions that include
thoughts that may be different that her own. She is able to adapt her position when she
encounters a world of ideas and perspectives that often emerges when keeping an
open mind.
As a former executive in the public and private sector, executive coach, and university
professor, I would be eager to have Ms. Deska on my staff.
