The document describes the process of designing a contents page for a magazine. The designer chose a purple background color that stood out and would appeal to their target audience of pop music fans. Headers and section titles were added in black and pink colors to match the background and link all elements together. Images were arranged and colored frames were added to make them stand out. Page numbers were added in a bright yellow color for visibility. Finally, the front cover image was placed at the top left as a replacement for the magazine title.
2. I chose a purple back
ground colour for my
contents page because
it was a popular colour
when I got given my
audience
questionnaires back
from my target
audience. The colour
stands out and it
shows I have used a
variety of colours that
will attract pop music
fans as I haven’t used
purple as a main colour
on the front cover or
the double page
spread.
3. Here I have added the
Contents title and a solid
colour background
behind the writing. The
solid colour back ground
is the same colour as the
double page spread back
ground colour because I
wanted to link them
together. It was also one
of my main colours that
was on the colour
scheme and I think it
really stands out on the
purple background.
4. This screen grab shows that
I have added the Regular
and Feature headings onto
the contents page. I have
chosen a black solid
background colour for the
strips and then the same
pink colour as the contents
back ground strip for the
wording to again, link them
all together and show that
they relate to each other. I
have kept the same font for
the headings and made
sure that they had equal
amounts of space around
them within the boxes.
5. I now added the regular
content and the feature
content to my work. The
page numbers that I have
out in are the same pink
colour to keep it matching
and connected. I then kept
the content writing in black
so that it was easy to see
on the purple background
and it was the opposite of
the regular and feature
titles.
6. The images used were all
taken by myself and I had
to rearrange the pictures
on the contents page until
I was happy with the
layout. I then added a
different range of colours
as a frame around the
images to make them
stand out and look
appropriate for a pop
music magazine. I had to
zoom in and place the
images next to each other
accurately with having the
coloured frames there.
7. Next I included the page
numbers on the images
and made them stand out
by enlarging them and
making them stand out
with a bright yellow
colour. I then also made
sure they were all accurate
by leaving the same
amount of space around
the numbers in the picture
boxes. At first I had the
numbers as different
colours but I decided the
page looked better with
them all the same colour
so I decided to keep the
colour that stands out the
most which was the
yellow.
8. I then added the date in a
white colour and put it
under the contents title
where it can clearly be
seen and stand out on the
pink back ground colour.
It’s also more professional
to have the date around
the top of the page.
9. Finally, the last thing I added
to the contents page was a
JPEG image of my front
cover, I placed the image of
the front cover usually
where the magazine title
would go so I have used this
image in replacement of the
title and placed it in the top
left hand corner where it’s
usually the first place that
people look at.
