Magazine Advertisement
What is the most appealing feature to this
magazine advertisement?
• The image of the hands
• Use of the color red
• Typography
• Symmetry
• Simplicity

When asked about the magazine advert and
what the most appealing feature was, most of
the audience said that the image was a really
key factor to draw people in. The photography
was uncommon which seemed to catch
people attention. Not only this but another
appealing feature for the magazine was its
simplicity and the way it was laid out. The
layout is symmetrical which keeps the
advertisement central on the page and
doesn’t overcrowd anything. Everything is
black and white on the advertisement apart
from the band name and the text below the
image. This was to ensure that the
advertisement wouldn’t be boring and would
catch the audience’s eye which it succeeded
to do.
Does the use of the red colour catch your

As I mentioned in the slide before every person asked
this question agreed that the colour red grabbed the
audiences attention as it was the only spec of colour on
the advertisement
Do you like the image used? Why?
The image I used was also used on the front, back and disk of my
digipack so they all link together. They are not all the same image
but all relate to each other. According to the audience the image
used was the main focus of the advertisement because it is so
unusual, this was the best feature to the magazine as it was well
thought out and planned. The way it is placed in the centre of the
advertisement shows structure and works with the rest of the
layout of the page.
What is your least favourite feature? Why?
When asked what the audiences
least favourite feature was they
all picked up on the fact that it
was quite empty, however this
was an important factor for my
magazine advert because the
space is a key feature for it to
catch the audiences attention.
The text is also part of this, for
this type of advertisement I
wanted space to be an important
factor for catching the audiences’
eye.

What improvements would you make?
- Add more text
- More information about band
- Change ‘IWitness’’ font to
match other

Finally I asked everyone what
improvement I could make for my
magazine advert and all their
answers were all to do with the text.
Changing the font of the title
(IWitness) to match the rest of the
text a majority vote as they said it
would go better with the genre as
well. They thought ‘IWitness’ looked
quite grungey and didn’t go with
anything else. More information
could have been mentioned to fill up
the page slightly more.
