2. What is an ORCID ID?
(Open Researcher and Contributor ID)
is a nonproprietary alphanumeric code to
uniquely identify scientific and
other academic authors and contributors.
3. ORCID addresses or solve the problem that a
particular author's contributions to any online
scientific publications can be hard to recognize as
most personal names are not unique, they can change
(such as with marriage), have cultural differences in
name order, contain inconsistent use of first-name
abbreviations and employ different writing systems. In
other words, it is similar to DNA, barcode, RFID, or
unique number of authors in the online world of
publishing.
4. ORCID provides a persistent or
unique identity for
humans(authors), similar to that
created for content-related entities
on digital networks by digital object
identifiers (DOI).
7. 3. Set the Visibility Setting of your account to “Everyone”
8. 4. Email Frequency and Terms of Use.
*Email Frequency: How regular an update will be delivered to you.
*Terms of Use: Conditions on how to use your ORCID ID.
(Only by accepting the “Terms of Use” can one create and ORCID ID)
9. 5. Captcha and Final steps:
A. Clicking the box will prompt a window with a condition.
10. B. The condition given needs to be satisfied in order
to proceed to the next step.
Click “verify” after satisfying the condition given.
11. C. Satisfying the condition will replace the box with a check mark
Clicking the “register” button will direct you to your home
page.
