place. For example if you are not committed to showing up to your job you will be fired
eventually, it can also mean you must work hard at all times when at work. Flexibility
means that you will have to work around the employers hours of when they want you to
work, they could call you in at any minute. You must be responsible at your work place,
for example if you make a mistake you must own up to it and tell the employer.
1.2 : Identify the qualities you already have that are attractive to potential employers
On my CV I have stated that I have the qualities, teamwork, aiming high, listening,
presenting, independence. For example I believe teamwork is a strength because I am
very good at creating relationships in and outside of the workplace, I also believe I know
when to be serious with people but also when the time is right I can also have fun this
helps to keep others on track.
1.3 : Outline why honesty, commitment, flexibility and accountability are key qualities to
employers
Honesty means a lot in the work place, the employer expects his employees to be
very honest with him and the other workers. For example if you make a mistake
he/she expects you to tell them about it.
The employer wants a employee to be committed to their job because they want
them to show up on time and work at they’re best level all the time.
Flexibility means that you should be able to work around the hours of other things
you have going on during the week. It also means you must be available to come
into work whenever the employer wants you to.
Every employer wants their staff to be trust worthy because you should always
have a good relationship with your employer.
1.4 : Give examples of when you have been honest, committed, flexible and accountable
Throughout my entire life I have been honest, I always try to tell the truth and not lie. I
like to think that I am always committed to my work in college, for example if something
needs completing I will try complete as soon as I can. I try to be flexible all the time such
as even if I’m not attending college I always make time to go in and catch up on work. I
am always trust worthy everyday because if no one trusted me I wouldn’t get anything
done.
4. 4
1.5 : Outline how mindset qualities could affect your employability
A positive mindset is always important while on a job it helps have to have a good
approach to the task you given. However if you have a negative mindset you will always
be complaining about the task given, this gets old for colleagues and employers. This kind
of attitude gets old quickly. Being positive can come with rewards, the people who moan
get less hours which means less pay, however if you are more positive you may get
overtime which means higher pay.
Unit 7: Managing your time
This unit introduces learners to timekeeping as well as time management. It covers
developing a sense of responsibility and control when it comes to time, how to work with
appropriate people (eg supervisor) to identify priorities, how to identify when support might

The unit will look at why punctuality, reliability and the need for preparation are important
in the workplace.

3. Understand why punctuality and reliability are important in the place of work
The learner can:
3.1 Give 2 examples of why punctuality is important in the place of work, identifying the
consequences of not being punctual
3.2 Identify what is meant by reliability in each of the following
Work-related contexts:
Production
Customer service
Learning Outcome 1
1.1 Give two examples of how time can be managed in a place of work
Time management is very important in a place of work, for example one time this is
important is making sure you turn up to your shift on time without being late, you never
want to turn up to work late because it can lead to serious action including maybe getting
fired. Another reason time management is very important is that in a place of work you
can earn extra money by completing overtime, this is important because you need to
remember to log your hours or you will not be payed for the work you have completed.
1.2 Review your own time management and identify areas where
you could improve
After reviewing my time management I have seen that I can improve on a few things. The
first thing I can improve on his making sure I have enough time to complete the task in
the time given. The second thing I can improve on is completing tasks by the time the
deadline is over.
1.3 Plan your own work activity, with appropriate support from others
6. 6
1.4 Carry out a work activity within planned timescale
Learning Outcome 2
2.1 Describe 2 different time-related problems that can lead to disruption in a place of
work
The first time related problem in a place of work would be turning up to work on time
everyday, this is important because if you are continuously late for work it could lead to
you being fired. Another time related problem would be managing your timeline, for
example when you are given a task you must be able to complete it in the time given.
2.2 Identify where you can access support when you run into difficulties with time
management
If I was personally struggling with a piece of work in a workplace I would go talk to a
manager or maybe if they are not available I would ask another colleague for some help. I
would maybe see the manager first but if there feedback doesn’t help then I would aska
colleague for some more help.
Learning Outcome 3
3.1 Give two examples of why punctuality is important in the place of work, identifying
the consequences of not being punctual
Being punctuality shows that you’re a true professional at what you do for work,
professionals always make punctuality a top priority, not showing that you’re a
professional could indicate that you find your job boring which isn’t professional. Another
example is that it can help you get ahead. Showing that your performance is at best can
lead to a rewarding end but if not it can lead to punishment.
3.2 Identify what is meant by reliability in each of the following
Work-related contexts:
Production: For example, if you are put into groups to design a product and other
members of your group were ahead of you this would slow the entire group down
because of the mistakes you have made. This could result in the group failing the task,
this is how you are reliable.
7. 7
Customer service: For example, if you are dealing with a customer and trying to sell
something to them you need to know your stuff, you need to know the information about
the product. If you don’t back up your points with suitable information you may lose that
customer and sale, this is why it is important to be reliable in customer service.
