Challenges
● The greatest challenge was the scale of this project. We chose an
extremely large vehicle and so we had to decide what we wanted to
focus on in the project.
○ Solution: Sacrificing intricate details from each subassembly and only drafting
enough parts as was needed to have a functional model.
● During animation and rendering, the runway part’s appearance and material
selection was constantly removed, changing the desired black color to a tan.
○ Solution: Solidworks was not properly loading the appearances from the
current subassembly so we had to load the runway subassembly before
loading the complete assembly
● Creating windows for the parts in the Bridge and the Hull. Split command was
not working for us.
○ We decided to extrude cut the outline of the window on a desired part, then use the
extrude to next surface command to create a thin wall. The material and appearance of
this wall was then changed to glass.

Conclusion
– The Individual and Team projects for this class
were entirely enjoyable in that they allowed a
broad expanse of creativity on our parts and
the means to realize our imaginations with the
use of Solidworks Software.
– As is normal with learning, communication is always
a difficult point. In our case, the communication is
between us and the Solidworks program. We must
learn to work in terms the software will understand
to create our goals. This is often the most frustrating
but also most rewarding when everything goes right.
– Drawings are Hard, but they help. A lot.
