Use Case 1: Zero break-down / Zero defects manufacturing
§ Most manufacturing plants incorporate two types of machines in the production chain:
• Milling machines, producing objects by means of using rotary cutters to remove material from a
workpiece of raw material
• Coordinate-measuring machines (CMM), for measuring the physical geometrical characteristics
of manufactured objects in order to detect defects, etc.

18. Use Case 2: Powertrain predictive maintenance using Stratio
Automotive Solution
A first system to be connected to the IDS
Architecture based on FIWARE is a demonstrator of
the commercial IoT platform from Stratio Automotive
used for predictive maintenance of fleets.
Installing the Stratio Plug IoT device on a vehicle, a
number of variables are monitored and predictive
maintenance is performed (e.g. the engine will be
overheated in 30 mins so it has to be revised). In
our testbed this will be done for simulated private
transport buses.
One or more cities and fleets will be connected to
the testbed, exporting real/right-time information
which will be valuable in improving algorithms for
predictive maintenance
