RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (MSc):
MSgraduate project: Polarization DivisionMultiplexing Systemforthe Fiber-OpticsEducationLab.
Building & activating an education fiber-optics system using polarization division multiplexing. (PDM) technique,
to illustrate this capacity-enhancement technique for graduate and undergraduate students. Polarization controllers
are used to modify polarization channels and to demonstrate crosstalk.
Next generation fiber-optic report. (Advance Fiber Optic Telecom Network course)
Studied and gave multiple presentations about next generation research paper “54 Tb/s Transmission over 9,150 km
with Optimized Hybrid Raman-EDFA Amplification and Coded Modulation”.
Modeling project: Modeled the optical power & temporal phase performance ofElectro-Absorption
(EA) modulator. (Fiber Optic Telecommunications Technology Course)
Modulating a CW optical signal with an electrical data signal to produce an amplitude-modulated optical data signal
using MATLAB.
2
JDSuniphase EPM 605 seriesfiber-coupled photodiode. (Fiber Optic Telecommunications Technology
Lab Course)
Activated a fiber coupled photodiode in the fiber optics education lab, using the fusion splicer & connectorized fiber
pigtail. Drove the photodiode with a self-designed DC bias control circuit with pass band-filter and amplifier.
Compared the performance of the photodiode with a reference detector based on rise time, fall time, peak-to-peak
voltage and modulation frequency.
SMT fiber-optic transceiver. (Advance Fiber Optic Telecom Network course)
Redesigned a control circuit for both a surface mount technology (SMT) based transmitter & receiver in order to
introduce fully operational SMT transceiver into the fiber optics education lab.
Fiber optics systems:To provide hands‐ on laboratory experiences activating & testing an
assortment offiber‐ optics systems. (Advance Fiber Optic Telecom Network Lab course)
Worked on building fiber optic system using FPGA DE2 electrical board, SFP DFB, VCSEL & FP optical
transceivers, and measured data & tested performance of the system as eye diagram, and BER for electrical
baseline performance, back to back performance, and transmission performance.
WAN planning project. (Network Planning & Design course)
Designed a wide area network (WAN) for a university campus using Opnet for networking design.
Cell site NIER analysis project. (Wireless Infrastructure & Policy course)
This project is scenario for antenna patterns, its site location and NIER regulations using Matlab. A cell site NIER
design included the relevant characteristics of the site, the antenna pattern, the radiated emissions, the locations
where humans have access to the site, and the local building for the transmit antenna location.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE (B.Sc.):
Research Assistant at University of Garyounis.
Designed a satellite communication system.
Designed different type of antenna as half-wave dipole and Yagi-Uda antennas.
Stated Variable Feedback Controller and Observer Design using Matlab.
Worked with a team in developing a system of Wi-Fi technology for the telecommunication department.
Worked on brocade POE switches for setting up VOIP phones and carried out the latter's configuration
and troubleshooting.
