famous saying. The thing is, deep down we all know it’s true. But what most of us
aren’t aware of, is how best to cope and capitalise on those changes. The fabulous

We at Orchan Consulting | Asia (Orchan for short) are communication visionaries—a
one-stop shop for positive change. We roll up our sleeves and tackle all the fancy

all done with puffed out chests full of pride and passion. After all, your reputation is

Lumpur, Malaysia, but with offices around the region (we’re expanding faster than

Founding Director
Eighteen years have passed since Farrell Tan’s
immersion in public relations first took root. What began
as an entry-level vocation back in 1997 has since evolved
into a highly-decorated career pillared by strong business
acumen and an enviable knack for headship. Today, the
same trailblazing spirit persists, but at a greatly magnified
degree.
With a diverse skill-set encompassing crisis
management, campaign ideation, creative
conceptualisation, corporate communications, event
planning, sponsorship acquisition, and more tucked under
his belt, the Orchan Consulting | Asia Founding Director’s
client servicing prowess, alongside his co-founder’s
strategic direction, is incomparable.
A thinker equipped with the foresight of an inspired builder, his passion for
leading the charge on change defines the very outline of the young
entrepreneur’s blueprint for best-in-class success and domination. The
establishment of his specialist agency in 2009 is the ultimate realisation of Tan’s
dream to spearhead innovation.
Craig J Selby
Managing Director
A leading curator in the delivery of strategic solutions, Craig’s
particular areas of interest include but are not limited to
issues and crisis management as well as personal branding.
A highly-learned and well-travelled scholar with the
experience and intellect to match, his post-graduate
qualifications and research cover the fields of Globalisation,
Economic Development as well as Tertiary Teaching &
Management.
Still actively involved in the lecturing and supervision of
research students within the field of marketing communications, his current projects
include a jointly authored book on the Public Relations industry in Southeast Asia,
along with formal research on Reputation Management in the Digital Age.
Balancing his two passions, education and consulting, Craig co-founded Orchan

Properties
Orchan has worked extensively alongside property developers
and managers to build awareness for the general public on a
range of properties.
Servcorp is one of the world’s leading serviced office suites.
We launched Servcorp’s Nu Tower operation, and later was
engaged on retainer to manage publicity initiatives for all their
Malaysian endeavours, including the recent launch of their
facility in Ilham Tower.
We worked extensively with ARA Asset Management Ltd
(“ARA”) to rebrand and reposition four (4) of their properties in
Malaysia and to highlight ARA as a property redeveloper of
choice. We also led the Advertising & Promotions programmes
for two (2) of their bigger malls, as well as relaunching these
retail spaces.
Earlier on, we were engaged by Mayland Properties to rebrand
Plaza Phoenix into Cheras Sentral. This was later extended to
incorporate support for Hartamas Shopping Centre.
Education
With one of Orchan’s directors having an extensive
background in education management, we have actively
sought interesting education projects which step outside of the
purely public relations sphere.
We were a consultant for BASF’s new rice extension and
training centre in Alor Setar. Another project included training
Taylor’s University Public Relations Department in identifying
stronger opportunities to propel their brand, and to
communicate this with their audience.
The Taylor’s Education Group engaged us to announce the
newly approved land allocation for their new campus in
Singapore, and to focus on developing targeted publicity for
other schools under their auspices.
Food and Beverage
From food courts to fine dining, Orchan has represented an
impressive array of food and beverage establishments. Be it
coordinating food reviews or publicity for the outlets, crafting
and managing their social media initiatives, or helping to
develop new concepts in their culinary journey, we have been
involved at all stages of our clients’ development.
Penang’s That Little Wine Bar engaged Orchan to develop the
public profile of Chef Tommes, and to promote their unique
involvement in broader wine appreciation and education. We
secured Chef Tommes a hosting role on an AFC cooking show
titled Chalk & Cheese, which first aired in February 2012.
The toughest challenge is to get publicity for the smallest of
outlets – we secured impressive support for Sushi Heng (a
neighbourhood sushi stall within a food court, offering over 600
unique sushi options). We also launched a major food court
concept in Ipoh, and have worked with several smaller,
independent cafes and bistros to help propel their culinary
brand to the Malaysian public.
Larger F&B players that we’ve worked with include Outto Dine
Sdn Bhd, operators of Spasso Milano, Weissbrau, Limoncello,
Svago, and Aka Chochin; KyoChon (launch of KyoChon’s first
outlet in Malaysia with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and Kangin);
the launch of Ruyi & Lyn – one of Bangsar’s snazziest
restaurants; and the stunning Il Primo by the Tai Thong Group.
Other establishments represented include Croisette Café,
Urbano e Fresco, 42East, Duck n’ Such, The Penang Pork
Company, Craft Brews, Irrawaddy Fine Foods, Five27, and
Next Food Avenue. We have also offered representation to
several accomplished chefs on the Malaysian scene.
Automobiles
When European luxury car brand Peugeot wanted to launch
their latest model and clear up misperception from the past,
they called Orchan. We jumped in head first to learn all there is
to know about the car, and to strategise how to move forward
from past issues. We enabled Peugeot to address several
perception issues prior to the launch of their award winning
model, as well as hosting a number of media initiatives
including an across country exclusive media test drive, multiple
exclusive interviews examining Peugeot’s business plans in
Malaysia, and the launch of European Car of the Year 2014
award winner, the all-new Peugeot 308 THP.
Lifestyle
After several years of being in the Malaysian market, British
technology firm, Dyson, realised the importance of going
beyond traditional sales to incorporate public relations. Dyson
approached Orchan to represent the brand in Malaysia, and to
create appropriate media initiatives to garner stronger brand
presence.
We assisted in product category launches, extensive product
reviews, and strong brand-building activities which included a
coveted personal interview for The Star with Sir James Dyson.
The brand famous for its vibrant colours and signature ‘luna’
boat decided to team up with Erra Fazira and to support her
philanthropic efforts. We ensured news of Erra Fazira’s
involvement in creative child development was made known to
the public, while promoting her creation of the Erra Art Club
and the Erra Fazira-STAEDTLER Art Fund. Following an
extremely successful press conference in December 2010, we
continued generating coverage for their on-ground events.
Martell chose Orchan to activate the public relations aspect of
its prized Martell Cognac Cordon Bleu Centenary Celebration
– an exclusive celebration of 100 years of Cordon Bleu. An
evening of fine dining, entertainment, and celebration also
encompassed a media appreciation event, where select media
were recognised for their contribution to living the lifestyle and
supporting Martell over the years.
Fashion and Accessories
Orchan has been privileged to have worked alongside some of
Malaysia’s and the region’s best fashion and accessory
brands.
Bran et Daguet, a prêt-à-porter fashion house originating from
Penang, engaged Orchan to develop their profile and
showcase their distinctive fashion designs. From hosting
exclusive fashion shows to creating lasting tie-ups with some
of Malaysia’s favourite models, Orchan also enabled in-depth
coverage of the designer and his particular philosophy on
creating impressionable couture for discerning clients.
We have also launched start-up brands such as local shoe and
handbag brand, Tsar Asia, and worked with Penang based
jewellery curator, Amee Philips, along with international brands
including Forever 21, Storm London, Timberland, and PUMA.
Sports Lifestyle
Orchan worked on the PUMA portfolio from 2009 to 2014.
From a one-off campaign, 'Create Your Style', we have then
been awarded the 'Happy Hunting' campaign, followed by
three of their 'Social' campaigns, which brought together “After-
Hours Athletes” from around the world together, online and
offline, to participate in social banter and friendly competition.
Due to its stellar track record, we later worked on the 'Faas'
campaign (under their Sports portfolio), featuring the world's
fastest runner Usain Bolt, which kicked off in April 2012,
followed by the recent installment of 'Social', entitled 'Dream
Team', which kicked off in May 2012.
Red Bull Product of Europe engages with Orchan on a project
basis to facilitate local publicity initiatives on high profile global
campaigns.
In 2016, these were “Red Bull Can You Make It”—where
hundreds of Malaysian teams vied for a lucrative position in an
international travel and adventure challenge, using only cans
of Red Bull as currency as they travelled across Europe—and
“Neymar Jr’s Five”—a five-a-side signature football tournament
created by the Brazilian and Barcelona star, Neymar Jr.
In the words of our client, we achieved “tremendous results”
(sic) across both traditional and digital media platforms.
Technology
CodeAr.my looks beyond tomorrow, at the new paradigm of
work. CodeAr.my puts ‘work’ back into ‘fun’ by facilitating
global IT outsourcing through a level of interaction and security
previously not experienced with an online platform. It’s not only
a job search engine, it’s an entire search, activation, execution
and management tool to ensure the best and most secure
results for everyone involved.
We handled all the PR and broader communications
consulting needs for the company, including liaison with
international publications, pre-launch and launch, as well as
social media strategy and framework creation.
Health, Beauty and Aesthetics
Be it health products, vanity products, or aesthetic medicine,
there are many interesting stories to tell. Orchan has worked
with some world leading brands (L’erbolario, Neal’s Yard
Remedies, Omorose) and researchers (Environ with Dr
Desmond Fernandes; Health Pathway with Dr Marc Dauer) to
introduce their services and product range to Malaysia.
Crafting unique media experiences, such as personalised
scent creation sessions for media with a British luxury
perfumer (Penhaligon’s), was among our most unique
activities to engage with media.
Several of our clients have been involved with aesthetic
medicine (Bio Collagen Technologies, EsteeGold International,
and Health Pathway), from topical creams to alleviate skin
conditions (Environ, and Jare Iredale), to hair follicle
transplants enabling a fuller head of hair, to autologous stem
cell injections to stimulate cell regrowth. In each case, Orchan
has facilitated in-depth, balanced articles that explore the
therapies being introduced to Malaysia.
Orchan has also represented health product suppliers, helping
to strengthen their brand reputation by highlighting quality
products.
Integrated Projects
A fun and fulfilling project which kicked off in January and
ended in May 2011. Astro Hitz “Yuna Inspired” Powered by
DiGi consisted of three main parts: contest, reality
documentary, and a ‘secret concert’. Yunalis Zarai, popularly
known as ‘Yuna’ to her fans is Malaysia’s musical sweetheart,
continuously capturing hearts and minds with her soulful self-

Over the five months of the project, more than RM2.5 million in
PR value was garnered, totalling more than 90 media clips
(combination of different media).
Chocolate Box
Recognising the potential of Public Relations initiatives for
start-up businesses and Small-Medium Enterprises, we
introduced our very own PR concept package, Chocolate Box
PR in early 2012. Designed as an introduction and starting
point for entrepreneurs, Chocolate Box PR is in fact applicable
to any business which has not utilised PR before.
Chocolate Box PR works on different levels to prepare,
educate, pitch, and enable exposure for the entrepreneur and
their products.
We’ve successfully pushed to feature our Chocolate Box in a
wide range of publications, including dailies, business
publications, magazines and on BFM radio. This led to
Orchan’s Managing Director being a regular contributor to
BFM’s Speed Consulting programme.
Pro-Bono
A pro-bono project that we helmed in 2010, the AIDSAware
campaign themed “Be the Message” leveraged off the public
as a vehicle to communicate the essence of the initiative via
social media. The main rationale behind the initiative was to
spread AIDS awareness, equip society with an education on
preventive measures and encourage the public to join in on the
fight against discrimination of inflicted victims.
Responsible for the communications aspect of the effort, we
were instrumental in the recruitment of celebrities for the
AIDSAware calendar, which was sold to corporations and
members of the public to further raise awareness on the
initiative beyond cyberspace. A total of 42 Malaysian
celebrities came on board in support of the campaign, and
behind-the-scene videos and video messages were also shot
to raise awareness and encourage further participation.

  • 13. Portfolio of Clients Properties Orchan has worked extensively alongside property developers and managers to build awareness for the general public on a range of properties. Servcorp is one of the world’s leading serviced office suites. We launched Servcorp’s Nu Tower operation, and later was engaged on retainer to manage publicity initiatives for all their Malaysian endeavours, including the recent launch of their facility in Ilham Tower. We worked extensively with ARA Asset Management Ltd (“ARA”) to rebrand and reposition four (4) of their properties in Malaysia and to highlight ARA as a property redeveloper of choice. We also led the Advertising & Promotions programmes for two (2) of their bigger malls, as well as relaunching these retail spaces. Earlier on, we were engaged by Mayland Properties to rebrand Plaza Phoenix into Cheras Sentral. This was later extended to incorporate support for Hartamas Shopping Centre. Education With one of Orchan’s directors having an extensive background in education management, we have actively sought interesting education projects which step outside of the purely public relations sphere. We were a consultant for BASF’s new rice extension and training centre in Alor Setar. Another project included training Taylor’s University Public Relations Department in identifying stronger opportunities to propel their brand, and to communicate this with their audience. The Taylor’s Education Group engaged us to announce the newly approved land allocation for their new campus in Singapore, and to focus on developing targeted publicity for other schools under their auspices.
  • 14. Food and Beverage From food courts to fine dining, Orchan has represented an impressive array of food and beverage establishments. Be it coordinating food reviews or publicity for the outlets, crafting and managing their social media initiatives, or helping to develop new concepts in their culinary journey, we have been involved at all stages of our clients’ development. Penang’s That Little Wine Bar engaged Orchan to develop the public profile of Chef Tommes, and to promote their unique involvement in broader wine appreciation and education. We secured Chef Tommes a hosting role on an AFC cooking show titled Chalk & Cheese, which first aired in February 2012. The toughest challenge is to get publicity for the smallest of outlets – we secured impressive support for Sushi Heng (a neighbourhood sushi stall within a food court, offering over 600 unique sushi options). We also launched a major food court concept in Ipoh, and have worked with several smaller, independent cafes and bistros to help propel their culinary brand to the Malaysian public. Larger F&B players that we’ve worked with include Outto Dine Sdn Bhd, operators of Spasso Milano, Weissbrau, Limoncello, Svago, and Aka Chochin; KyoChon (launch of KyoChon’s first outlet in Malaysia with Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and Kangin); the launch of Ruyi & Lyn – one of Bangsar’s snazziest restaurants; and the stunning Il Primo by the Tai Thong Group. Other establishments represented include Croisette Café, Urbano e Fresco, 42East, Duck n’ Such, The Penang Pork Company, Craft Brews, Irrawaddy Fine Foods, Five27, and Next Food Avenue. We have also offered representation to several accomplished chefs on the Malaysian scene. Automobiles When European luxury car brand Peugeot wanted to launch their latest model and clear up misperception from the past, they called Orchan. We jumped in head first to learn all there is to know about the car, and to strategise how to move forward from past issues. We enabled Peugeot to address several perception issues prior to the launch of their award winning model, as well as hosting a number of media initiatives including an across country exclusive media test drive, multiple exclusive interviews examining Peugeot’s business plans in Malaysia, and the launch of European Car of the Year 2014 award winner, the all-new Peugeot 308 THP.
  • 15. Lifestyle After several years of being in the Malaysian market, British technology firm, Dyson, realised the importance of going beyond traditional sales to incorporate public relations. Dyson approached Orchan to represent the brand in Malaysia, and to create appropriate media initiatives to garner stronger brand presence. We assisted in product category launches, extensive product reviews, and strong brand-building activities which included a coveted personal interview for The Star with Sir James Dyson. The brand famous for its vibrant colours and signature ‘luna’ boat decided to team up with Erra Fazira and to support her philanthropic efforts. We ensured news of Erra Fazira’s involvement in creative child development was made known to the public, while promoting her creation of the Erra Art Club and the Erra Fazira-STAEDTLER Art Fund. Following an extremely successful press conference in December 2010, we continued generating coverage for their on-ground events. Martell chose Orchan to activate the public relations aspect of its prized Martell Cognac Cordon Bleu Centenary Celebration – an exclusive celebration of 100 years of Cordon Bleu. An evening of fine dining, entertainment, and celebration also encompassed a media appreciation event, where select media were recognised for their contribution to living the lifestyle and supporting Martell over the years. Fashion and Accessories Orchan has been privileged to have worked alongside some of Malaysia’s and the region’s best fashion and accessory brands. Bran et Daguet, a prêt-à-porter fashion house originating from Penang, engaged Orchan to develop their profile and showcase their distinctive fashion designs. From hosting exclusive fashion shows to creating lasting tie-ups with some of Malaysia’s favourite models, Orchan also enabled in-depth coverage of the designer and his particular philosophy on creating impressionable couture for discerning clients. We have also launched start-up brands such as local shoe and handbag brand, Tsar Asia, and worked with Penang based jewellery curator, Amee Philips, along with international brands including Forever 21, Storm London, Timberland, and PUMA.
  • 16. Sports Lifestyle Orchan worked on the PUMA portfolio from 2009 to 2014. From a one-off campaign, 'Create Your Style', we have then been awarded the 'Happy Hunting' campaign, followed by three of their 'Social' campaigns, which brought together “After- Hours Athletes” from around the world together, online and offline, to participate in social banter and friendly competition. Due to its stellar track record, we later worked on the 'Faas' campaign (under their Sports portfolio), featuring the world's fastest runner Usain Bolt, which kicked off in April 2012, followed by the recent installment of 'Social', entitled 'Dream Team', which kicked off in May 2012. Red Bull Product of Europe engages with Orchan on a project basis to facilitate local publicity initiatives on high profile global campaigns. In 2016, these were “Red Bull Can You Make It”—where hundreds of Malaysian teams vied for a lucrative position in an international travel and adventure challenge, using only cans of Red Bull as currency as they travelled across Europe—and “Neymar Jr’s Five”—a five-a-side signature football tournament created by the Brazilian and Barcelona star, Neymar Jr. In the words of our client, we achieved “tremendous results” (sic) across both traditional and digital media platforms. Technology CodeAr.my looks beyond tomorrow, at the new paradigm of work. CodeAr.my puts ‘work’ back into ‘fun’ by facilitating global IT outsourcing through a level of interaction and security previously not experienced with an online platform. It’s not only a job search engine, it’s an entire search, activation, execution and management tool to ensure the best and most secure results for everyone involved. We handled all the PR and broader communications consulting needs for the company, including liaison with international publications, pre-launch and launch, as well as social media strategy and framework creation.
  • 17. Health, Beauty and Aesthetics Be it health products, vanity products, or aesthetic medicine, there are many interesting stories to tell. Orchan has worked with some world leading brands (L’erbolario, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Omorose) and researchers (Environ with Dr Desmond Fernandes; Health Pathway with Dr Marc Dauer) to introduce their services and product range to Malaysia. Crafting unique media experiences, such as personalised scent creation sessions for media with a British luxury perfumer (Penhaligon’s), was among our most unique activities to engage with media. Several of our clients have been involved with aesthetic medicine (Bio Collagen Technologies, EsteeGold International, and Health Pathway), from topical creams to alleviate skin conditions (Environ, and Jare Iredale), to hair follicle transplants enabling a fuller head of hair, to autologous stem cell injections to stimulate cell regrowth. In each case, Orchan has facilitated in-depth, balanced articles that explore the therapies being introduced to Malaysia. Orchan has also represented health product suppliers, helping to strengthen their brand reputation by highlighting quality products. Integrated Projects A fun and fulfilling project which kicked off in January and ended in May 2011. Astro Hitz “Yuna Inspired” Powered by DiGi consisted of three main parts: contest, reality documentary, and a ‘secret concert’. Yunalis Zarai, popularly known as ‘Yuna’ to her fans is Malaysia’s musical sweetheart, continuously capturing hearts and minds with her soulful self- written tunes. Her music has even crossed over to the USA, where she is signed by Fader. Over the five months of the project, more than RM2.5 million in PR value was garnered, totalling more than 90 media clips (combination of different media).

Chocolate Box Recognising the potential of Public Relations initiatives for start-up businesses and Small-Medium Enterprises, we introduced our very own PR concept package, Chocolate Box PR in early 2012. Designed as an introduction and starting point for entrepreneurs, Chocolate Box PR is in fact applicable to any business which has not utilised PR before. Chocolate Box PR works on different levels to prepare, educate, pitch, and enable exposure for the entrepreneur and their products. We’ve successfully pushed to feature our Chocolate Box in a wide range of publications, including dailies, business publications, magazines and on BFM radio. This led to Orchan’s Managing Director being a regular contributor to BFM’s Speed Consulting programme. Pro-Bono A pro-bono project that we helmed in 2010, the AIDSAware campaign themed “Be the Message” leveraged off the public as a vehicle to communicate the essence of the initiative via social media. The main rationale behind the initiative was to spread AIDS awareness, equip society with an education on preventive measures and encourage the public to join in on the fight against discrimination of inflicted victims. Responsible for the communications aspect of the effort, we were instrumental in the recruitment of celebrities for the AIDSAware calendar, which was sold to corporations and members of the public to further raise awareness on the initiative beyond cyberspace. A total of 42 Malaysian celebrities came on board in support of the campaign, and behind-the-scene videos and video messages were also shot to raise awareness and encourage further participation.
