Iberia Gourmet Wines (IGW) aims at introducing the finest Spanish wines in markets where consumers are
starting to appreciate the many benefits of drinking grape based wines.
IGW's mission is to meet the growing demand for imported quality wines in important Asia-Pacific markets
like Taiwan, Korea, and Mainland China.
The individual assessment of each market is vital for our success. We perform an extensive market research
for each market, collecting primary data and secondary data through objective methods and reliable sources.
Later, we use this information to develop marketing plans aimed at promoting Spanish wines. Finally, we
work with Spanish Institute of Foreign Trade, local governments, importers, wine experts, retailers, media, etc.
to ensure the effective execution of each plan. As a result, with little effort, Asia-Pacific wine importers can
successfully distribute Spanish wines in their perspective markets.
IGW's goal is to foster long-term cross-cultural commercial agreements. Providing the best quality at the best
price and meeting the needs of each market.
We create promotional plans in cooperation with Asia-Pacific market key players like Mr. Isacs, author and
publisher of several prestigious gourmet guides and magazines, in addition to renowned international wine
magazines like Decanter, and the Spanish institute of foreign trade offices in the Asia-Pacific region.
Furthermore, we rely on Spanish wine experts for guidance selecting only the finest wines and the best prices.
IGW has offices in Barcelona, Santiago de Compostela, and Sta.Cruz de Tenerife. From these offices, we
promote and coordinate business relationships with Asia-Pacific wine importers through our Taipei office.
Currently, we are marketing wines with appellations of origin from the following Spanish wine regions:
Aragón, Canarias, Cataluña, Galicia, Castilla La Mancha, Castilla y León, and La Rioja.
In the next few months, we will sign exclusive representation agreements with wines producers in: Murcia,
Mallorca, Andalucía, Valencia, and Navarra. This will give us a competitive position to award the rights to sell
the best and most comprehensive variety of Spanish wines in the Asia-Pacific region.
Currently, we are launching a promotional campaign in cooperation with the Spanish institute of foreign trade,
Spanish wine producers, wine importers, and other wine market key players. This campaign will last twelve
months and will spawn business relations among Spanish wine producers and Asia-Pacific wine importers.
We would like to invite you to take advantage of this great opportunity to reap the benefits of buying and
selling the best Spanish wines with the help and constant support of a partner who listens, understands and
looks after your specific needs. Furthermore, thanks to our local presence, you can rest assured you will
receive prompt assistance along with the best service.

Great wines from Spain
Spain is located in Southern Europe. In the North, it neighbours with the Cantabria Sea, in the West we can
find the Atlantic Ocean and, of course, the famous Mediterranean Sea at the East, origin of the perfect climate
and conditions to grow exquisite wines.
Spain's varied climate and different geographic conditions are strongly influenced by the neighbouring seas.
Thus, we can find humid mountain climate, cold and hot plain climate as well as hot and warm climates in the
coastal reagions and the torrid climate of some southern regions.
Those who have had the chance to visit Spain might have witnessed bullfighting and flamenco performances.
These passionate forms of art are actually a small part of Spanish culture. In torrid summer nights one can
see crowds lingering over some wine mixed with ice in the chairs that are displayed outside the numerous
bars. Besides, during the famous "siesta" time people tend to avoid the torrid summer afternoons by staying at
home and taking naps. These are some of the major cultural elements that define Spanish people way of life.
Likewise, a common point among the Mediterranean peoples is the use of bread as main staple, fresh fruits
and vegetables, extended use of olive oil and the common consumption of great quantities of wine.
Besides being one of the major producers of wine worldwide, Spanish wines have also gained international
recognition and have obtained high value prizes worldwide. Whether it is the wine's guarantee of origin,
high quality control process and a selective process of the raw materials, the position of Spanish wines
in the international market is indisputable. All this has made possible that Spain becomes one of the major
actors in the international wine scene.

Classification of Wines
The Quality Wines are given specific names that describe the duration of the ageing period in these wooden
casks, as established by each Denomination of Origin and Spanish law, which ensures the same standards in
all the DOs (Denomination of Origin). These names are as follows:
Red Wines
Vino Joven (Young Wine): Also known as Vino del Año, this wine is put on the market immediately for sale.
Therefore, it has either not undergone any barrel ageing, or has undergone a shorter period than that legally
established for Crianza wines.
Vino de Crianza (Crianza wine): Red wines must have undergone at least two years of ageing, with a
minimum of six months in wood barrels (some areas of the Rioja require twelve months rather than six), and
are sold when three years old. Rose and white wines must stay in the wine cellars for one year, six months of
which must be in wooden barrels, and they are sold when in their second year.
Vino de Reserva: Red wines of this type must have remained in cellars for at least three years, one of which
must be in wooden barrels, and are sold in their fourth year. Roses and whites must have spent two years in
the cellars, six months of which must be on wood, and are sold in their third year.
Vino Gran Reserva: Only those wines considered to be the finest vintages reach this stage of ageing. Red
wines must have spent two years in wooden butts and three years in the bottle; they are sold in their sixth
year. Roses and whites remain in the cellars for four years, six months of which are spent in wooden casks.
They are also sold in their sixth year.
White Wine
White Wines are those produced with fermented and mature white grapes. The result are full-bodied white
wine varieties with deep flavour and great aroma. Some of them also contain certain fruity flavours that
provide them with a long smooth finish.
Sparkling Wine (CAVA)
These are prepared according to the highest quality controls and brewing methods. A sparkling wine needs to
be in a wine vault for at least nine months before it is commercialized.
9. Grape variety is one of the most significant factors in the production of quality wines. Other variables, such as pruning
methods, fertilisers, irrigation or phytosanitary treatments may be modified, but grape variety is crucial as it transfers its
characteristics, whether virtues or defects, to the wine being made. Behind every wine there is always one or more grape
varieties lending their aroma, body and colour to the wine's personality.
Spain is fortunate to have a broad range of high-quality native grape varieties that produce noble wines. Thanks to
modern winemaking techniques that respect the fruit's inherent qualities, many of the great traditional Spanish varieties.
Interesting fact! "Six of the twelve most widely utilized grape types are of Spanish origin".
