3. BACKGROUND
Mathematics is indispensable in developing the basic
knowledge in preparation for the life of the future
The learning process that performed by mathematics teachers
in the classroom affects the increase in student interest and
learning outcomes
Quality education can be improved by improving the quality of
learning
4. Research Question
How to improve student’s cognitive learning outcomes
by implementing a model of cooperative learning type
STAD in the class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal Putih?
How to improve student’s affective learning outcomes
by implementing a model of cooperative learning type
STAD in the class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal Putih?
5. PURPOSE
To find out how to improve student’s cognitive
learning outcomes in the class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal
Putih through the application of cooperative learning
model type STAD
To find out how to improve student’s affective
learning outcomes in the class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal
Putih through the application of cooperative learning
model type STAD
6. Advantages of Research
Theoretical Advantages,
it is hoped this research can contribute to increase
interest and learning outcomes in mathematics
Practical Advantages,
> For Researcher, as the development of knowledge and
gain experience of research in learning mathematics.
> For Teachers, Expected to provide an overview of
cooperative learning model type STAD in order to
increase the activity and student achievement.
> For Students, Given this research, students are
expected to be more motivated to learn mathematics so
as to increase the activity and student learning
outcomes.
7. TERM LIMITS
•Learning or teaching is an attempt to train students. In this sense it is learning
there implicit activities to choose, establish, and develop methods to achieve
the desired learning outcomes (Degeng as cited in Uno, 2008, p. 134).
•Cooperative learning model type STAD is a model of cooperative learning
using small groups are heterogeneous (Trianto, 2011, p. 52).
•Student activity is any activity of students in like attention, asked questions
and discussion to following the learning process.
•The results of studying mathematics is the abilities students after receiving
their learning experience. Learning outcomes in this study includes two
aspects:
Cognitive learning outcomes relating to intellectual property. Cognitive
assessment is seen from the tests performed.
Affective learning is student’s attitudes regarding the assessed from charging
student questionnaires and observation sheets.
8. Research Study Limitation
This research is only done on class VIIB
SMPN 1 Napal Putih academic year
2011/2012 using a model cooperative
learning type STAD to improve student
learning outcomes in the cognitive and
affective.
10. Definition of Learning
Learning is a process of interaction between
the stimulus (which may be
thought, feeling, or movement) and response
(which also can include thoughts, feeling, or
movement)
(Thorndike as cited in Uno, 2008, p. 7)
Learning or teaching is an attempt to train
students. In this sense there is implicit in
the learning activities of
selecting, establishing, and developing
methods to achieve the desired learning
outcomes
(Degeng as cited in Uno, 2008, p. 134)
11. Cooperative Learning
Cooperative learning structured in
an effort to increase participation
of students, facilitating students
with leadership experience and
attitude to make decisions in
groups, as well as providing the
opportunity for students to interact
and learn together other students
Trianto, 2011, p.41
12. Cooperative Learning Type STAD
Cooperative learning type STAD is one type of
cooperative learning model using small groups with a
number of members of each group of 4-5 students are
heterogeneous. Cooperative learning type STAD "begins
with the delivery of learning
objectives, presentation, group activities, quizzes, and
awards groups" (Trianto, 2011, p.52)
13. Students Results
Cognitive Learning Outcomes,
relating to intellectual property consisting
of six aspects of the knowledge or
memory, comprehension, application, analysis
, synthesis and evaluation
Affective Learning Outcomes
domain of attitudes regarding which consists
of five
aspects, namely, acceptance, participation, e
valuation and determination of
attitudes, organization and establishment of
lifestyle
14. Framework of Research
Material
Students class VIIB cooperative learning model Device cooperative learning
SMPN 1 Napal Putih of type STAD with type STAD
STAD Stage:
1. Conveying the purpose and motivation of
students
2. Present / communicate information
3. Organize the students into groups to learn
4. Guide the group work and learning
5. Evaluation
6. Reward
Improved student Improved student
learning activities learning outcomes
15. Alternative Hypotesis
With the application of cooperative learning models
type STAD can improve student’s cognitive learning
outcomes in class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal Putih
With the application of cooperative learning models
type STAD can improve student’s affective learning
outcomes in class VIIB SMPN 1 Napal Putih
16. Relevant Research
Research conducted Yofi Nurkaesal (2009)
concluded that the learning method STAD in
teaching circle can improve student
achievement, the results of observation and
inquiry that the application of the model STAD
learning can make students more active in
teaching and learning and can enhance student's
motivation.
18. Type of Research
This is a Classroom Action Research is the
research conducted in the field of education is
implemented in the classroom with the aim to
repair and improve the quality of learning.
20. Data Collection Techniques
Observation Data,
Obtained using observation sheets for
students to know and recognize the
activities of students in the learning process
The Test Sheet,
The test form a task or series of tasks to
be done by the students who performed at
the end of each cycle, the goal is to
determine the success of learning model
STAD in mathematics.
21. Data Analysis Techniques
Observation Sheet
No Assessment Criteria Notation Score Value
1 Less K 1
2 Enough C 2
3 Good B 3
Observation of the student activity sheet totaled 10 points of
observation, the highest score of each point of observation is 3
(three), then the highest score is: 3 x 10 = 30 and lowest
scores are: 1 x 10 = 10.
22. Thus, the range of assessment scores for student observation
sheet are:
No Assessment Criteria Score range
1 Less 10-16
2 Enough 17-24
3 Good 24-30
23. Test
1. The average value of learning outcomes
Where as, x = the average student
x = number of student score
N = number of students
2. Criteria students completed
Students said completed in study if they have value
minimum is 70.
3. Completeness in the classical learning
24. Indicator of Success
Indicators of Success Learning Cognitive
Classical: if> 85% of students have completed
Indicators of Success Learning Affective
At least 85% of students have positive attitudes
towards learning mathematics with application of
type STAD cooperative learning model.
