Definitions
 C1: A Local company indigenously located in one of the three Chiefdoms ( Mumena, Mukumbi or
Matebo) and approved by endorsement from the respective Chief, as owned by indigenous members
of that particular chiefdom.
 C2: A Local company physically based in the North-western province (beyond the three
chiefdoms) and registered as such & having its main physical presence in the province.
 C3: A Local company physically & indigenously based in the larger Zambia and registered as
such.
 JV: A company formed by a mergence between C1/C2/C3 company and a NL category company.
Could be for a specific project or for continuity
 NL: A company that does not qualify to be considered local under Barrick standards i.e. does not
have any Zambian citizen as shareholder or fall under C1, C2 or C3
 Local: A company wholly/partly owned in shares by Zambian citizens. Ref LMC Local Procurement
Policy and LMC Local Procurement Plan
 NOTE: A subsequent Supplier Category can only be considered if the current category has been
tested and Non exists that is able to undertake the service/supply the goods

2. Registration with relevant regulatory bodies e.g. Engineering
Institute of Zambia (EIZ), National Council for Construction (NCC)
3. Should have been awarded the works By Lumwana Mining Company
(LMC) through formal tender process
4. Formal registration with LMC
