Ajmer: Talking to re-
porters in Ajmer, Chief
Minister Ashok Gehlot
said that no tax was im-
posed in the first five
budgets. “We did not
mere make budget an-
nouncements but im-
plemented them as well.
We gave the people what
they asked for. The an-
nouncements are so
many that every section
will get benefited. The
atmosphere of Rahul
Gandhi’s visit was spec-
tacular everywhere and
the countdown has be-
gun for the BJP in the
country. The situation
of the country is criti-
cal and it has to be un-
derstood. If not taken
care of, the situation
will get worse. PM Nar-
endra Modi speaks well,
it is a good thing. But
democracy is in danger.
ED and CBI are being
misused. Ten lakh fam-
ilies have left the coun-
try. The last weapon of
BJP is polarisation,”
Gehlot said. Turn to P8

GREAT HOPE!
WHO declares end to COVID
“Global Health Emergency”
l A major step towards
ending pandemic comes
3 years after WHO 1st
declared its highest level
of alert over the virus.
l Officials said the virus’
death rate dropped from
a peak of over 1,00,000/
week in Jan 2021 to just
over 3,500 on April 2023.
l Countries to manage
Covid-19 as it suits them.
The Emergency Committee met for 15th time and
recommended to me that I declare an end to the
public health emergency of international concern.
I’ve accepted that advice. It is therefore with great hope that
I declare Covid-19 over as a global health emergency.

Bengaluru: Prime
Minister Narendra
Modi referred to the
controversial movie
‘The Kerala Story’ at an
election rally in Karna-
taka’s Ballari city on
Friday and accused the
Congress of having a
backdoor understand-
ing with terror groups.
“There was a lot of
discussion about Kera-
la Story, which discuss-
es ploys to make the
country hollow from
within. They say Kerala
Story is based on the
terrorist plots in just
one state. Such a beauti-
ful state, where people
are hard working and
talented, Kerala Story
has exposed the terror
conspiracies,” PM Modi
said. Full Report on P5, P6
Terrorism was against humanity, life val-

the Congress has surrendered in front of
terrorists to appease its vote bank. They had not
uttered a word against terrorism for fear of losing
its vote bank. —Narendra Modi, Prime Minister

Jaipur: BJP state presi-

inflation relief camps
as disaster camps for
the public. Joshi said
that the government
did the work of putting
the public in trouble
through these camps
and now trouble is go-
ing to befall the govern-
ment. Joshi also at-
tacked the Congress
over the ban on Bajrang
Dal. Before leaving for

that it was in the Ra-

end inflation, but did
nothing in four years.
“Now dearness relief
camps have been set up
which have become
hurt camps instead of
relief camps.” He said.
Joshi said that they
must learn from PM
Narendra Modi how re-
lief has been brought to
every person sitting at

the relief camp, people
collapse and die. “Gov-

lives of the people in

nate to raise protest slo-

guilty. There is an at-

Joshi said in the case
of Bajrang Dal ban an-

a way crossed the limits
of appeasement. “The

TWEETS
ith temperatures soaring across
the country
, the start of May has
been more than mercurial in IPL
— 2023. The Lucknow Super Gi-
ants and Royal Challengers Ban-
galore had an intense first ex-
change at the Chinnaswamy,
Bangalore,whereLucknowcame
out on top with a last ball win.
The victory was celebrated with
a lot of passion by the players
and their coach, Gautam Gamb-
hir. The gestures didn’t go down
well with the always-passionate
Virat Kohli who made sure to
“give it back” after Bangalore
won the second match between
the two teams at the Lucknow
Ekana stadium a few days ago!
The result was that the tem-
pers flared up after the match
followed by a heated altercation
between ex-Indian opener, Gau-
tam Gambhir and current Su-
perstar, Virat Kohli. The angry
duo were in such a rage that
they had to be separated by fel-
low players. IPL authorities
fined both Kohli and Gambhir
100 percent of their match fees
as they were found to have
breached article 2.21 of the tour-
nament’s code of conduct and
brought the game into disre-
pute. Lucknow bowler Naveen-
ul-Haq also had an exchange of
words with Kohli during the
game and was fined 50 percent
of his match fee.
Later, in the dressing room,
Kohli was seen celebrating the
close victory with his team
mates, in a video released by his
franchise on social media. He
can be heard saying, “that’s a
sweet win boys. A sweet win. If
you can give it, you got to take it.
Otherwise, don’t give it” — a di-
rect retort to Gambhir’s aggres-
sion in the previous game.
Such fiery scenarios are an
integral part of sport and IPL is
the biggest money spinner in
cricket with increased stakes
for everyone, especially the play-
ers. The heightened passion
sometimes results in ugly fights
on field and there are plenty of
previous examples of that in the
15-year IPL history. In fact, the
Delhi duo of Kohli and Gambhir
were involved in a similar tussle
earlier in 2013. They were both
captains of their respective
franchises and Gambhir at the
time was leading the Kolkata
Knight Riders.
ABOUT 2013
In the 2013 fracas, Bangalore
was chasing and Kohli was at
the crease when he got out
against the run of play. As he
was about to leave the ground,
he saw some nasty words being
thrown at him from the opposi-
tion bowler. Not one to back out
of any challenge, Kohli strode
towards the Kolkata player
when Gambhir came face to face
with him and they had a severe
verbal clash and could be sepa-
rated only through the interven-
tion of the Kolkata players. Both
players were eventually fined 10
percent of the match fees.
ABOUT 2008
Earlier, in the inaugural IPL sea-
son in 2008, two stars of the In-
dian team, Harbhajan Singh and
Sreesanth were involved in a
‘slapgate’ incident. Mumbai In-
dians had lost the match against
Kings XI Punjab by a huge mar-
gin and according to reports,
Harbhajan, playing for Mumbai
wassoirritatedwithSreesanth’s
antics, the leading bowler for the
Punjab side, that he slapped
him. Thereafter, the images of
Sreesanth crying went viral and
the fiasco resulted in Harbhajan
being banned from the rest of
the season. But later, Harbhajan
confirmed that they had re-
solved the issue between them
after he apologised to Sreesanth.
One of the most dramatic
visuals of IPL that still keeps
getting replayed on social media
is of West Indian star Keiron
Pollard throwing his bat at Aus-
sie pacer Mitchell Starc in the
2014 edition of IPL. After Starc
playing for Royal Challengers
Bangalore bowled a bouncer to
Mumbai Indians’ Pollard, there
was an angry verbal exchange.
On the next ball, as Starc ran in,
Pollard backed off but Starc
went ahead with the delivery.
This enraged Pollard to such an
extent that he threw his bat at
him and Chris Gayle had to step
in to cool things down.

here, he rode on his bullet-proof car standing on the
running board. Modi waved at the crowd that cheered

IN KARNATAKA TODAY
New Delhi (PTI): Senior BJP leader BL Santhosh has
said the Congress campaign in Karnataka peaked early
while his party’s electioneering is hitting the right chord
at the right time and has put it on course to win a
majority. Speaking on a ‘Twitter
Space’, the key BJP general sec-
retary in charge of the party or-
ganisation described Bajrang Dal
as a “nation-building force” and
slammed Congress for equating it
with the banned outfit PFI, which
he blamed for killing several of
his party’s workers. “Hindu and terrorism, they do not
go together at all. Hindu and extremism both words
cannot walk together.... They (Congress) have given
us an issue and we will be raising them,” he said amid
aggressive campaign by the BJP led by PM Narendra
Modi to corner the opposition party over the issue.
Bengaluru (PTI): Ex Con-
gress chief Sonia Gandhi
would address an election
rally in Hubballi on Saturday,
her first campaign meeting
for the Assembly elections
in Karnataka. The Congress
candidate in Hubballi-Dhar-
wad Central is former CM
Jagadish Shettar, who joined
the party after being denied
ticket to contest the elections
by the BJP. The BJP has
fielded Mahesh Tenginkai
from here. The fight between
Shettar and Tenginkai has
become a prestigious battle
of sorts for the ruling BJP
and the Congress.
‘I DID NOT ASK FOR ANY POSITION FROM
THE CONGRESS’: JAGADISH SHETTAR
Hubbali (Agencies): Six-term MLA and former Karna-
taka CM Jagadish Shettar on Friday said that he did not
ask the Congress for any position while switching over
from BJP which he had served for decades. The veteran
leader decided to part ways with
the BJP after being denied a ticket
for the May 10 Assembly polls. In
an interview with a section of me-
dia, Shettar denied the specula-
tions that the Congress offered a
plum position to him. He said that
he was not offered any position.
The Congress gave a ticket to contest from Hubbali and
it’s more than enough, he said. About his former party
BJP, Shettar said, that he was humiliated by a section
of the Karnataka BJP leaders and denied ticket one fine
morning. “It was not the denial of ticket that infuriated
me but the manner in which it was done,” he said.
BJP’s fresh salvo at

New Delhi (PTI): The
BJP on Friday fired a
fresh salvo at Delhi CM
Arvind Kejriwal amid
the row over the Rs 45
crore expenditure on his
residence, comparing
him with the likes of
Iraqi dictator Saddam
Hussein and North Ko-
reanleaderKimJongUn

BJP spokesperson
Sudhanshu Trivedi
played videos of Kejri-
wal’s old statements in
which he presented
himself as a crusader
against leaders spend-
ing public money on
expensive lifestyles, in-
cluding big houses, and
luxurious cars.
Trivedi hit out at Ke-
jriwal, quoting his 2013
tweet in which he had
targeted the then Delhi

legedly having 10 ACs in

people lived in slums.
He accused the AAP
leaders of playing an
“important role” in cre-
ating a crisis of credi-
bility in Indian politics
and claimed that it is
the conduct of the likes
of him that causes dis-
trust among people
about the political class.
Trivedi said govern-
ment agencies will do
their job as per the law
but Kejriwal’s party
should provide “politi-
cal and moral” answers.

truths about him. The way and extent of the

Mumbai (Agencies):
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP

New Delhi: The Na-
tional Hindi News
Channel “Bharat-24”,
which was launched
only 9 months ago, has
surprised everyone in
the television industry
by taking a quantum
jump in the TRP ratings
this week. In the ratings
declared by BARC on
Friday morning, the
ratings and market
share of “Bharat-24”
has increased from 0.6
to 2%. According to
market sources, if this
channel continues to
grow at the same pace,
then it can even over-
take the Good News To-
day of the India Today
Group.
According to sources,
this long jump of
“Bharat-24” has direct-
ly affected News-24
channel, whose rat-
ings/market share has
come down from 5.7% to
3.2% which can directly
affect the Ad revenue of
the channel.
In the rating of the
free platform market
released by BARC, the
rating or market share
of ‘Bharat-24’ has
reached 6%, extremely
close to ABP news’s
6.6% share in the free
platform market.
However, as far as the
reach of Free Dish is
concerned, “Bharat-24”
with its 1.54 Cr reach
has overtaken ABP
news (1.45 Cr). It is note-
worthy that after leav-
ing behind ABP News
in Free Dish Reach,
“Bharat-24” has now
come close to Times
Now Navbharat (1.55
Cr) and India TV (1.57
Cr).
Significantly, in the
Free platform market,
‘Bharat-24’ with its 6%
rating has already over-
taken News Nation
channel with 5.1% rat-
ing or market share as
well as News Nation’s
Free Dish reach of
1.26Cr. After BARC rat-
ings, there was festive
joy in the channel’s of-
fice in Noida and the
staff expressed their
happiness by distribut-
ing ‘laddoos’ and ‘ka-
choris.’ Channel’s Chief
Business Officer Manoj
Jagyasi said that after
the increase in the rat-
ings of the channel, the
channel is getting tre-
mendous response in
the ad market.
On this occasion the
CEO of the channel Dr
Jagdeesh Chandra said
that on principle of
‘Khabar Hi Jeevan Hai,’
the channel has carved
a niche for itself in the
news market in just a
span of 8 months.

cosmetic dentistry and
dental implants. Fear of
going to the dentist affects
over 90% of people. Dental
avoidance, the noise of
drills, the fear of pain,
phobia, inhibition and
other concerns contribute
to dental stress and anxi-
ety. Dr Tiwari's desire to
give the most comfortable
dental experience possible
has motivated him to im-

Dr Archit, you are a certified
sports dentist, how is it dif-
ferent from a regular dentist?
Sports dentistry is one of the
most recent and upcoming fields
in dentistry. It mainly includes
the prevention and management
of athletics-r elated orofacial in-
juries and associated oral dis-
eases. Customised mouthguards
are fabricated for athletes so
that it fits properly and saves the
oral cavity from any oral inju-
ries while playing.
What attracted you to
dentistry?
I have acknowledged and ad-
mired this profession since
childhood and had the privilege
to learn under the best that is my
mother Dr Anjali Dave Tiwari,
an ardent Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeon who has inspired me
every day with her compassion
towards patient care.
What is the role of implan-
tology in dental options for
the elderly?
There isn’t really any age which
is considered ‘too old for dental
implant treatment’. A reasona-
bly healthy person can safely
and predictably have implants
placed resulting in a vastly im-
proved quality of life, assisting
them to maintain a balanced nu-
tritious diet and active lifestyle;
remaining every bit as confident
and socially engaging as a per-
son with their natural teeth.

Hon’ble VP sir is very close to our family
and in the initial days of his law practice, he
use to be a close associate of my grandfather
Justice VS Dave. He has been taking dental
treatment from my mother Dr Anjali Dave
Tiwari and now I am fortunate enough to fill
her shoes as I have been appointed the Hony

You also have a charity clinic at Jagat-
pura, how did that come about and
how does it function?
We have our charity clinic at Jagatpura,
where we treat patients for the majority of
treatments obtaining zero monetary bene-
fits provide some treatments at a very low
and affordable cost. We started this because
I used to experience regularly in my prac-
tice that many people want to get good qual-
ity treatment done and are in major pain
but unfortunately, they cannot afford pri-
vate clinics and face a lot of challenges
in terms of hygiene and
availability in get-

Ackermann-designed outfit Jenner
wore that night. She also wore a
black, off-the-shoulder gown later in the

to her bud- ding connection with Oscar

who is apparently a close friend
of Ackermann. The 'Dune' ac-

he Kerala Story
starring Adah
Sharma, Yogita
Bihani, Siddhi
Idnani and Sonia Bala-
ni has been hitting
headlines for the
wrong reasons. Ever
since the trailer was
released, the film faced
massive backlash on
social media. Kerala
Chief Minister
Pinarayi Vijayan even
slammed the makers
for ‘spreading hate
propaganda against
the state’. On Friday,
Kerala High Court re-
fused to issue a stay
order on the release of
the film ‘The Kerala
Story’. The petitions
were filed in pursu-
ance of a teaser of the
film which was re-
leased recently depict-
ing that innocent girls
were lured and con-
verted to Islam over a
period of time. The pe-
titioners alleged that
the film, which claims
to be based on true
facts, is ‘false and mis-
leading’ and is likely to
hurt religious senti-
ments and spread ha-
tred between commu-
nities in India. The
petitions were first
filed in Supreme Court
under Article 32 of the
Constitution of India.
However, the Supreme
Court held that it was
open for the petition-
ers to move to the ap-
propriate High Court
having jurisdiction.
Later, the case went to
Kerela High Court and
Chennai High Court.
Ameet Naik, Manag-
ing Partner of Naik,
Naik and Company
represented the pro-
ducers of the film Vi-
pul Shah and Sunshine
Pictures Pvt. Ltd. and
opposed the grant of
any reliefs against the
release and exploita-
tion of the film. Naik
pointed out that the
film carries a disclaim-
er that it is a work of
fiction and does not
claim ‘historical and
factual accuracy’. He
also pointed out that
CBFC, which is a statu-
tory body competent to
certify films has found
the film to be in con-
formity with the
Guidelines and fit for
public exhibition. Both
the courts refused to
grant any relief
against the filmmak-
ers and the film. The
Division Bench of Ker-
ela High Court, after
watching the teaser
and trailer of the film
observed that there is
no allegation against
Islam and there is noth-
ing offensive to any
particular community
as a whole. The court
also not-
ed that the
film carries
an appropriate
disclaimer and is
certified by CBFC to
be fit for public exhi-
bition. The courts
refused to grant
any stay on the
release and exhi-
bition of the
film. After be-

by controversy,
the film has

Nitin Gadkari @nitin_gadkari SPIRITUAL SPEAK A disciplined mind brings happiness. —Buddha TOP TWEETS ith temperatures soaring across the country , the start of May has been more than mercurial in IPL — 2023. The Lucknow Super Gi- ants and Royal Challengers Ban- galore had an intense first ex- change at the Chinnaswamy, Bangalore, whereLucknowcame out on top with a last ball win. The victory was celebrated with a lot of passion by the players and their coach, Gautam Gamb- hir. The gestures didn’t go down well with the always-passionate Virat Kohli who made sure to “give it back” after Bangalore won the second match between the two teams at the Lucknow Ekana stadium a few days ago! The result was that the tem- pers flared up after the match followed by a heated altercation between ex-Indian opener, Gau- tam Gambhir and current Su- perstar, Virat Kohli. The angry duo were in such a rage that they had to be separated by fel- low players. IPL authorities fined both Kohli and Gambhir 100 percent of their match fees as they were found to have breached article 2.21 of the tour- nament’s code of conduct and brought the game into disre- pute. Lucknow bowler Naveen- ul-Haq also had an exchange of words with Kohli during the game and was fined 50 percent of his match fee. Later, in the dressing room, Kohli was seen celebrating the close victory with his team mates, in a video released by his franchise on social media. He can be heard saying, “that’s a sweet win boys. A sweet win. If you can give it, you got to take it. Otherwise, don’t give it” — a di- rect retort to Gambhir’s aggres- sion in the previous game. Such fiery scenarios are an integral part of sport and IPL is the biggest money spinner in cricket with increased stakes for everyone, especially the play- ers. The heightened passion sometimes results in ugly fights on field and there are plenty of previous examples of that in the 15-year IPL history. In fact, the Delhi duo of Kohli and Gambhir were involved in a similar tussle earlier in 2013. They were both captains of their respective franchises and Gambhir at the time was leading the Kolkata Knight Riders. ABOUT 2013 In the 2013 fracas, Bangalore was chasing and Kohli was at the crease when he got out against the run of play. As he was about to leave the ground, he saw some nasty words being thrown at him from the opposi- tion bowler. Not one to back out of any challenge, Kohli strode towards the Kolkata player when Gambhir came face to face with him and they had a severe verbal clash and could be sepa- rated only through the interven- tion of the Kolkata players. Both players were eventually fined 10 percent of the match fees. ABOUT 2008 Earlier, in the inaugural IPL sea- son in 2008, two stars of the In- dian team, Harbhajan Singh and Sreesanth were involved in a ‘slapgate’ incident. Mumbai In- dians had lost the match against Kings XI Punjab by a huge mar- gin and according to reports, Harbhajan, playing for Mumbai wassoirritatedwithSreesanth’s antics, the leading bowler for the Punjab side, that he slapped him. Thereafter, the images of Sreesanth crying went viral and the fiasco resulted in Harbhajan being banned from the rest of the season. But later, Harbhajan confirmed that they had re- solved the issue between them after he apologised to Sreesanth. One of the most dramatic visuals of IPL that still keeps getting replayed on social media is of West Indian star Keiron Pollard throwing his bat at Aus- sie pacer Mitchell Starc in the 2014 edition of IPL. After Starc playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore bowled a bouncer to Mumbai Indians’ Pollard, there was an angry verbal exchange. On the next ball, as Starc ran in, Pollard backed off but Starc went ahead with the delivery. This enraged Pollard to such an extent that he threw his bat at him and Chris Gayle had to step in to cool things down. In an exclusive interview with City First, Dr Tiwari talks about Sports dentistry, general care, cosmetic dentistry and dental implants! r Archit Tiwari emphasizes pre- vention as well as personalized at- tention, offering complete dental services in all ar- eas including general care, cosmetic dentistry and dental implants. Fear of going to the dentist affects over 90% of people. Dental avoidance, the noise of drills, the fear of pain, phobia, inhibition and other concerns contribute to dental stress and anxi- ety. D ANITA HADA anita.hada@firstindianews.com Dr Archit, you are a certified sports dentist, how is it dif- ferent from a regular dentist? Sports dentistry is one of the most recent and upcoming fields in dentistry. It mainly includes the prevention and management of athletics-r elated orofacial in- juries and associated oral dis- eases. Customised mouthguards are fabricated for athletes so that it fits properly and saves the oral cavity from any oral inju- ries while playing. What attracted you to dentistry? I have acknowledged and ad- mired this profession since childhood and had the privilege to learn under the best that is my mother Dr Anjali Dave Tiwari, an ardent Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has inspired me every day with her compassion towards patient care. What is the role of implan- tology in dental options for the elderly? There isn’t really any age which is considered ‘too old for dental implant treatment’. A reasona- bly healthy person can safely and predictably have implants placed resulting in a vastly im- proved quality of life, assisting them to maintain a balanced nu- tritious diet and active lifestyle; remaining every bit as confident and socially engaging as a per- son with their natural teeth. HEALTH PERSONALITY Boost your You have been appointed as Honorary Consultant dentist to the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar his family, how did this happen? Hon’ble VP sir is very close to our family and in the initial days of his law practice, he use to be a close associate of my grandfather Justice VS Dave. He has been taking dental treatment from my mother Dr Anjali Dave Tiwari and now I am fortunate enough to fill her shoes as I have been appointed the Hony Consultant Dentist to Hon’Ble VP Sir. You also have a charity clinic at Jagat- pura, how did that come about and how does it function? We have our charity clinic at Jagatpura, where we treat patients for the majority of treatments obtaining zero monetary bene- fits provide some treatments at a very low and affordable cost. We started this because I used to experience regularly in my prac- tice that many people want to get good qual- ity treatment done and are in major pain but unfortunately, they cannot afford pri- vate clinics and face a lot of challenges in terms of hygiene and availability in get- ting treatment at government hospitals. The 25-year- old star’s choice of designer could be a hint to her bud- ding connection with Oscar nominee and rumoured boy- friend Timothée Chalamet who is apparently a close friend of Ackermann. ETC 11 T he Kerala Story starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Bala- ni has been hitting headlines for the wrong reasons. Ever since the trailer was released, the film faced massive backlash on social media. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan even slammed the makers for ‘spreading hate propaganda against the state’. On Friday, Kerala High Court re- fused to issue a stay order on the release of the film ‘The Kerala Story’. The petitions were filed in pursu- ance of a teaser of the film which was re- leased recently depict- ing that innocent girls were lured and con- verted to Islam over a period of time. The pe- titioners alleged that the film, which claims to be based on true facts, is ‘false and mis- leading’ and is likely to hurt religious senti- ments and spread ha- tred between commu- nities in India. The petitions were first filed in Supreme Court under Article 32 of the Constitution of India. However, the Supreme Court held that it was open for the petition- ers to move to the ap- propriate High Court having jurisdiction. Later, the case went to Kerela High Court and Chennai High Court. Ameet Naik, Manag- ing Partner of Naik, Naik and Company represented the pro- ducers of the film Vi- pul Shah and Sunshine Pictures Pvt. Ltd. and opposed the grant of any reliefs against the release and exploita- tion of the film. Naik pointed out that the film carries a disclaim- er that it is a work of fiction and does not claim ‘historical and factual accuracy’. He also pointed out that CBFC, which is a statu- tory body competent to certify films has found the film to be in con- formity with the Guidelines and fit for public exhibition. Both the courts refused to grant any relief against the filmmak- ers and the film. The Division Bench of Ker- ela High Court, after watching the teaser and trailer of the film observed that there is no allegation against Islam and there is noth- ing offensive to any particular community as a whole. The court also not- ed that the film carries an appropriate disclaimer and is certified by CBFC to be fit for public exhi- bition. The courts refused to grant any stay on the release and exhi- bition of the film. After be- ing surrounded by controversy, the film has been finally re- leased world- wide today .
