Tigress T-84, popularly
known as Arrowhead,
sighted in Ranthambore
national park on Tuesday,
the number of tigers in
Ranthambore has
reached the 79 including
22 males, 30 females and
27 sub-adults and cubs.
There are 30 tigers in
Sariska and 5 in Ramgarh
Vishdhari Tiger Reserve.
Total 11 tiger cubs have
born in a month in the
state. On 21 June, T-124
Riddhi was seen in Ran-
thambore with 3 cubs.
On 9 July, ST-19 was
seen in Sariska with 2
cubs. On 16 July, RVT2
was seen in Ramgarh
Vishdhari with 3 cubs.

passengers in 2 days

The incidents of gold
smuggling from coun-
tries like the UAE are
increasing day by day in
Jaipur. The officials of
the Directorate of Rev-
enue Intelligence (DRI)
on Monday held a pas-
senger with smuggled
gold worth Rs. 70 lakhs
at Jaipur International
Airport. Sources in-
formed the passenger, a
resident of Nagaur, had
gone to Dubai three
months ago in search of
a Job.
“On Monday after-
noon, he returned to
Jaipur from Dubai. Of-
ficials recovered 1.16
kgs of gold from him,
worth around Rs. 70
lakhs in market,” sourc-
es said. “The accused
was produced before a
court and sent to jail,”
the source added. On
Tuesday, 1285 grams of
gold worth Rs 78,25,650
was recovered hidden in
the luggage of a passen-
ger coming from Shar-
jah in flight G935. Now
investigation is being
done in both the cases of
as to who the metal was
to be supplied in Jaipur.

A case of tubectomy per-
formed without consent
has come to light at
Jaipur’s Janana Hospital.
During the woman’s op-
eration for delivery, the
hospital staff were busy
celebrating a birthday in
the ward. Victim’s hus-
band filed a complaint at
the Sindhi Camp police
station on Tuesday.
According to CI Jay-
amal Singh, the com-
plaint was lodged by
Ram Singh. On July 21,
his wife Poonam Kavar
was admitted to Janana
Hospital for her second
delivery. Dr Pawan Ku-
mar Agrawal is incharge
of ward where Poonam
was admitted.The hus-
band alleged that during
Poonam’s operation for
delivery, the ward doctor
and other staff were busy
in birthday celebrations
and Dr Agrawal per-
formed the tubectomy
without permission. Dr
Agrawal has denied his
involvement and said
that he was not present at
the time of the operation.

High Court on Tuesday
asked the state govern-
ment and the police ad-
ministration to speed up
their system and improve
existing arrangements to
find the children soon.
The court asked the
government to develop
coordination with the po-
lice and administration of
other states even at the
interstate level. During
the hearing on the habeas
corpus petitions filed in
this regard, DGP Umesh
Mishra and the SPs of
Ajmer, Bhiwadi, Alwar
and Dausa were present
in the High Court.
The High Court said
whether the state govern-
ment and the police ad-
ministration do not have
any mechanism to quick-
ly find the children.
NCW takes
cognisance in
Barmer alleged

murder case. Condemn-
ing the incident NCW
said that it has taken suo-
moto cognizance and di-
rected for swift investi-
gation. “Justice must

came after a video, show-
ing half naked body of
the woman, went viral on
social media.
However, the police
has a different version on
it. Bhuttaram Bishnoi,
station house officer at
Chohtan police station,
said that when they re-
covered the body, which
was hanging on the tree,
at that time the woman
was completely dressed.
He further said that after
the post-mortem the
body was handed over to
the family members.
Bishnoi said that they
have yet no idea about
any video but if anything
happened like this, strict
action would be taken.

376 and 302 of IPC.

Liye Yudh Abhiyan, the
health department on
Tuesday raided a dairy in
Shastri Nagar and seized
600 kgs of adulterated
paneer. Officials in-
formed that the central
team of the Food Direc-
torate raided Best Dairy
located in Shastri Nagar
and found that the ac-
cused were first extract-
ing cream from the milk
and then mixing sham-
poo and palm oil in the
milk to make paneer.
“The team recovered a
huge quantity of sham-
poo, and palm oil from
the spot and seized the
material recovered from
the spot. Action is being
taken against the miscre-
ants for making poison-
ous food items,” in-
formed an official.
Notably, similar ac-
tions have been taken in
the past wherein spurious
ghee, milk and other
items have been seized.
The fake products are
usually common at the
festival times.

party meeting to end the
“impasse”, sources said.
Sources said despite

Opposition refused to

ready for a discussion on

AB-PMJAY LED TO HUGE OUT-OF-POCKET
EXPENDITURE SAVINGS, GOVT SAYS IN RS
The Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan
Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has resulted in
huge out-of-pocket expenditure savings related
to hospitalisations for the targeted beneficiaries, MoS
(Health) SP Singh Baghel told the Rajya Sabha on
Tuesday. A total of 3.14 crore beneficiaries were bene-
fited during the last two years under the Centre’s ambi-
tious health insurance scheme, he said. The states/UTs
having maximum and minimum number of beneficiary
families supported by the Centre and state are Uttar
Pradesh and Lakshadweep, respectively, Baghel said
in a written reply. Responding to a question, he said
in Gujarat, AB-PMJAY is implemented in convergence
with the state scheme Mukhyamantri Amrutum.

The projected population of India, as on

report of the Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare, Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.
MoS (Home) Nityanand Rai said as per the United
Nations, World Population Prospectus 2022, the
total projected population of China as on July 1, is
142,56,71,000. “The projected population of India

enter the scene and make
an emotional appeal call-
ing for an end to the vio-
lence in Manipur. “The
onset of May witnessed a
brutal, untoward and un-
called-for incident in Ma-
nipur. At this very mo-
ment, 3:30 am, July the
4th, 2023; nothing seems
to have changed. We are
counting, and today is the
62nd day,” the chief minis-
ter said in a long post on
Twitter, accompanied by a
poster of himself that
asked: “When will it stop?”

brethren”, CM Zo-

want to see any more pic-
tures and videos of

HOW MANIPUR’S
CRISIS HAS IMPACTED
MIZORAM
The situation and case
study requires some under-
standing. Mizoram’s Miz-
os and Manipur’s Kukis
share a deep-rooted ethnic
bond. The Chin-Kuki-
Mizo tribes come under
the larger “Zo” ethnic cat-
egory or umbrella. In Ma-
nipur, Kuki-Zomis mainly
live in Churachandpur,
Kangpokpi and Pherzawl
districts, with some of
them also living in Teng-
noupal and Chandel.
Quoting professor Jang-
khongam Doungel of the
department of political sci-
ence at Mizoram Univer-
sity, who recently told In-
dian Express: “Historical-
ly, culturally, socially, lin-
guistically, they are all re-
lated.” He said these “Eth-
nic tribes commonly traced
their historical origin to a
mythological cave known
by different names by dif-
ferent tribes”.
“They are known as
Chin when they settle in
the Burmese plains and
Chin became their official
name in Burma (which is
now Myanmar). Those
who moved down to
Lushai Hills (Mizoram)
and Chittagong Hill Tracts
(Bangladesh) from Chin
Hills were known as Kuki
and Kuki became the offi-
cial name in India. The
term ‘Mizo’ began to be
used officially in Lushai
Hills (presently Mizoram)
in 1946. After that, Mizo
began to be used popularly
in Mizoram,” the Mizoram
University professor went
on to inform Indian Ex-
press.

Just after the violence took place in Manipur in
May 2023, the Mizoram home department had
issued a statement and had expressed solidarity
with the “Zohnahthlak community”
, or the Kuki-
Chin-Mizo ethnic group. It was the first state to
express “deep concern” about the unrest. As per
reports, more than 12,000 people from Manipur
have escaped to Mizoram since the violence
broke out. While about 2,500-3,000 displaced
individuals are in relief camps set up by the
Mizoram government, the rest are living with
their Mizo kith and kin. Aizawl district is
providing shelter to 4,000 displaced people with
the civil society organisation Young Mizo
Association (YMA) setting up 12 relief camps.

he projected Muslim population in India in
2023 would be about 20 crore, 19.75 crore to
be precise, the Lok Sabha was recently in-
formed.This reflects an increase over the 14.2 percent
of Muslims at the time of 2011 census. The country’s
population is projected to be 138.82 crore in 2023.
Important in Minority Affairs Minister Smriti Ira-
ni’s written reply are the details about the socio-eco-
nomic status of Muslims. The literacy rate among
Muslims aged seven years and above, stands at 77.7
percent while participation in the labour force (for all
ages) is 35.1 percent.
There are grievances among Muslims regarding
discrimination in the job market which forces them
more towards self-employment where they account
for 49 percent compared to 41 percent for Hindus in
2020-21. There is also a difference in their earnings.
While Hindus are believed to earn on an average Rs
16,521 per month, the average monthly income of
Muslims is only Rs 12,473 per month.

against its rival in ex-
change for favoura-
ble coverage of the
prime minister. The
third case is also
about granting fa-
vours to a telecom
company in return
for positive media
coverage on the company’s website.
Netanyahu has pleaded not guilty to the charges of
fraud, breach of trust and corruption. The trial began
in 2020. Netanyahu’s critics fear that the bill passed
on Monday could save him from conviction. The
other part of the bill which allows the government to
have more members on the committee which appoints
judges could also lead to more friendly judges in the
Supreme Courts. Independent judiciary, which is cru-
cial for democracy, is an eyesore for many of the
independently-elected governments.

ther towards its destina-
tion with the Indian
space agency on Tues-
day raising its orbit fur-
ther for the fifth time.
On August 1, the
Chandrayaan-3 will take
the ‘moon spaceway’
when the Indian Space
Research Organisation
(ISRO) will guide it to
the TransLunar Injection
(TLI). On Tuesday, the
ISRO said: “The orbit-
raising maneuver (Earth-
bound perigee firing) is
performed successfully
from ISTRAC/ISRO,
Bengaluru. The space-
craft is expected to attain
an orbit of 127609 km x
236 km. The achieved
orbit will be confirmed
after the observations.”
“The next firing, the
TransLunar Injection
(TLI), is planned forAu-
gust 1, 2023, between 12
midnight and 1 am IST,”
the ISRO said.
The Chandrayaan-3
spacecraft was put into
orbit on July 15, in a
copybook style by In-
dia’s heavy lift rocket
LVM3. On the same day,
the first orbit raising was
done and the second orbit
raising was carried out on
July 17. The Chan-
drayaan-3 spacecraft
comprises a propulsion
module (weighing 2,148
kg), a lander (1,723.89
kg), and a rover (26 kg),
the ISRO said.
The main object of the
mission is to safely land
the lander on the lunar
soil. The lander will get
separated from the pro-
pulsion module a couple
of days after it enters lu-
nar orbit and is expected
to make a soft-landing
near the South Pole of
the moon at 5.47 p.m. on
August 23.
The lander will de-
scend to the moon from
a height of about 100 km
from the moon’s surface.

of harassing a woman activist’s family after she raised

Alwar, Nagar in Bharatpur, Ramzan ki
Gafan (Chauhtan) in Barmer and Sedwa
and Sarwad in Ajmer for girls, Jodhpur,
Jhunjhunu, Kota, Tonk, Bikaner, Sikar,
Pahadi and Kaman in Bharatpur,
Jetdasar (Baap) in Jodhpur,
Nachana (Pokaran) in Jaisalmer
will become government minority
residential schools for boys in
Jaisalmer. Rs 8 cr will be spent
on construction of each school.

RS 173.45 CR FOR ELEVATED ROAD OVER DRAIN IN SAWAI MADHOPUR
Elevated road will be constructed on Latiya drain in Sawai Madhopur district. For
this, CM Ashok Gehlot has approved a financial proposal of Rs 173.45 crore.
With this decision, a 2-lane elevated road of 2.71 km length will be built from Ra-
jbagh to Gopalji Mandir. This will make it easier for the people to travel. It is noteworthy
that the budget of 2023-24 was announced by the Chief Minister in this regard.

which in turn has given rise to the
need for quality education and
training programs in this sector.
The Beauty and Wellness indus-
try of India offers unparalleled po-
tential in terms of employment
generation and overseas place-
ments. Realising the vast opportu-
nity and huge challenge, the gov-
ernment has already initiated sev-
eral initiatives through ‘The Beau-
ty and Wellness Sector Skill Coun-
cil (BWSSC)’ in terms of creat-
ing relevant content and curricula,
information databases, delivery
systems, standardization of accred-
itation and certification process,
setting up industry-aligned infra-
structure etc.
To further develop and nurture
the desired skills ecosystem in the
beauty and wellness sector for eco-
nomic growth and social develop-
ment, the following are the recom-
mendations with an overview of its
future, challenges and solutions.
Some possible ways in which the
future of beauty and wellness edu-
cation in India could shape are:
As the beauty and wellness in-
dustry continues to grow, there is a
greater need for professionals who
possess a diverse range of skills.To
keep up with the changing trends,
educational institutions are likely
to place a greater emphasis on skill-

that students will be exposed to a

informed about the need for fol-
lowing professional standards in
their services, seek formal indus-
try-specific qualifications and cer-
tification by respectable organiza-
tions, as well as improve their ex-
isting qualifications through access
to higher education and research.
To provide candidates with hands-
on practical training and make
them employable and future-ready,
the job-related mix of classroom/
lab and workshop/ OJT could be
revisited to 10:20:70 from the cur-
rent 20:60:20 mix for job roles in
the beauty and wellness sector.The
industry’s involvement at this level
will also strengthen the industry-
academia connection and can
move away from the trend of cap-
tive skilling by a few industry play-
ers to the industry’s contribution to
skilling initiatives for the sector at
large. Incorporating an element of
extensive internship/ apprentice-
ship/ OJT opportunities for the
candidates would help them in
gaining work ex-
perience and a practical under-
standing of the work.
The lack of employer-led
apprenticeship standards and
career pathways in the sector
results in lower demand from
organisations to provide in-
ternship opportunities, there-
by barring many students from
availing of this learning oppor-
tunity. Accordingly, academic
pathways should be created for
apprentices, where apprentices
can earn an advanced diploma/
certificate using the credit-based
system in the sector. The credibil-
ity of apprenticeship certificates
should also be enhanced, through
well-established and qualified
third-party assessments. This will
further help in strengthening the
TVET ecosystem within the sec-
tor and making the sector more
aspirational among the country’s
youth.
Enable early introduction
of beauty and wellness courses
in schools
As our current education systems
emphasise knowledge-oriented
training based on rote learning,
rather than practical and experien-
tial learning of what a student
could perform in real life using his/
her mind and hand, it is necessary
to orient our students in school to-
wards vocational education as an
alternative career choice. The ab-
sence of such practical and experi-
ential learning thwarts the process
of innovation, imagination, and
creativity among the learners, leav-
ing the children bereft of any nec-
essary knowledge or skills for what
awaits them in the future – the un-
certain and ever-evolving world of
work. NEP 2020 calls for the inte-
gration of vocational education
with mainstream education.
The aim would be to ex-
pose 50 per cent of the learners in
K12 and PG to vocational skills by
2025 and 100 per cent by 2030. In
this regard, schools can play an im-
portant role in disseminating
awareness about career paths to
students, should they choose to
take up vocational courses.
Entrepreneurship development
and facilitation support for
beauty and wellness industries
Industry interactions have high-
lighted that while more than 50 per
cent of vocational pass-outs in the
beauty and wellness
sector opt for self-
employment, there is also a
noticeable tendency among the
people working in the sector to start
their enterprises as soon as they
have acquired a few years of indus-
try experience. Such entrepreneurs
in the sector would need a vibrant
support system to sustain their
businesses, foster entrepreneur-
ship, and support higher levels of
innovation and employment
generation in the beauty and
wellness industry.While it is
necessary to take many ini-
tiatives in this regard, the
most signifi-
cant first step
is to formal-
ize their
businesses
through appro-
priate registrations to
obtain a legal identity
and link them with
mentors, net-
working plat-
forms and
loans. Gov-
ernments play
a key role in
developing an
enabling reg-
ulatory envi-
ronment to un-
leash the poten-
tial of entrepre-
neurship within
any nation.
By reform-
ing their
policies,
laws and
regulations,
the government
must ensure that entrepreneurial
activities are facilitated by an eco-
system for entrepreneurship educa-
tion and development.
In addition to this, entrepreneur-
ship development in the sector
could be further bolstered by de-
signing an entrepreneurship devel-
opment roadmap with the ethos of
‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan;

mentation techniques, hand-hold-

of necessity to cope with

ly underreported.Asignificant pro-
portion of learning for such a work-
force happens on the job, which is
difficult to quantify and certify.
While candidates with industry-
specific skilling and certifications
have been able to gain skill premi-
ums, workers without formal certi-
fication of skills are often deprived
of a wage premium despite equiva-
lent or even better skills standards.
