1. Opening Credits
NAME OF THE STUDIO:
The name of the studio is the name of the certain studio that is distributing the film, which possibly
could have produced it as well. Examples of ‘Name of the studio’ is; Walt Disney Pictures,
Columbia, Lions Gate, Universal, Marvel Studios, Dimension, Miramax etc.
NAME OF THE PRODUCTION COMPANY:
The name of the production company is the company that created the certain film or the name of the
asset groups or even companies that financed a significant part of the film. They are usually
credited as "in association with" or "A (studio name) production.").
PRODUCER NAME, PRODUCTION OR/AND A FILM BY DIRECTOR NAME:
The Director's first credit is often announcing what the film is made by, it is usually written "a film
by XY or "a XY film".
STARRING:
Starring is the names of the most important actors or actresses. However, sometimes in certain
films the actors/actresses are announced after the film title.
FILM'S TITLE:
The film title is the name of the film.
FEATURING:
Featuring is the actors that are being featured in the film.
CASTING/CASTING BY:
The name of the director, or the people being casted in the film. A casting director is the person
responsible for assigning roles in a movie, play, or other production.
MUSIC/MUSIC COMPOSED BY:
The name of the people of which composed the music. A music composing is the person which is
in charge of creating/adding the music.
PRODUCTION DESIGN/PRODUCTION DESIGNER:
2. The name of the production designer. There are certain things that could come under the name of
production design or production designer, for example; The set design, Costumes or the person
that created the costumes, the name of hair dresser and make-up artist, the name of the person in
charge of the sound recording and lastly the name of the person that is in charge of the visual
effects.
EDITOR/EDITED BY:
The film editor’s name. A film editor job is to work with the raw footage, selecting shots and
combining them into sequences to create a finished motion picture.
DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY:
The name of the director of photography also known as a cinematographer. It is the person
photographing with a motion picture camera and is the chief over the camera and lighting crews
working on a film, they are also responsible for achieving artistic and technical decisions related to
the image.
PRODUCER/PRODUCED BY, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER:
Producers, co-producers, executive producers, 'also produced by' Often, though, the name of the
producer will be the next-to-last opening credit, just before the director's name is shown.
BASED ON THE BOOK (PLAY, GRAPHIC NOVEL etc.) BY/FROM A PLAY/BOOK BY
(older movies):
This will only be required if it is based on a book or any other literary work.
BASED ON THE CHARACTERS BY/BASED ON THE CHARACTERS CREATED BY:
This will only be required if it is based on characters from a book or any other media.
STORY/STORY BY:
The name of the person who wrote the story on which the script is based on, gets "story by" credit,
and the first screenplay credit, this doesn’t require if the script made considerable changes to the
story.
WRITER(S)/WRITTEN BY:
The name of the screenplay writers. A screenwriter or scriptwriter or scenario writer is a writer
who practices the craft of screenwriting, writing screenplays on which mass media such as films,
television programs, comics or video games are based.
DIRECTOR/DIRECTED BY:
The name of the Director or the person directing the film. A film director is a person who directs
3. the actors and film crew in filmmaking. They control a film's artistic and dramatic aspects, while
guiding the technical crew and actors. Usually only one director only gets permitted, even if there is
two directors.
