What is Social Media?
BASICS OF SOCIAL MEDIA
 The objective of Social Media Marketing (SMM) is to
attract a user base through Social Media and build a
relationship with it.
 Social Media Marketing takes time and must be scheduled
in advance, month after month.
 Social Media users don’t appreciate being left hanging for
weeks without updates– let them know why you left for a
while if you had to and make sure there’s always somethin
g for them to do while you’re away. For example, if you we
nt on a summer vacation, you may leave a social post like
this: “We at ABC Company are going on vacation! How’s y
ours so far? Share your story in the comments below. :-)”.
I’m sure you see the point.

A leading social media platform used world-wide for business
• Be aware that Facebook is mostly a leisure-centered platform, with game and
hobby apps and pages everywhere, so try to play this to your advantage. For
example, by adding humour to your posts and images that make people smile
while still conveying your message.
• Make sure your content is optimized to drive traffic back to your website or blo
g. Fill out ALL profile information!
• Also, re-share page posts on your Facebook profile to get more views and to t
ake advantage of your Newsfeed. Don’t spam, though, or Facebook will come
after you.
• Don’t add random people to your friends and send page invites to everybody!
• Start with your current customers and your website visitors (use existing email
lists).
Twitter
A micro-blogging site for all brands and people
• Twitter is a personable platform, so similar to text messages that you can effe
ctively use it with only basic copywriting techniques for headlines: sweet, conc
ise, to-the-point.
• Tweets fade away from the main stream pretty quickly, so ideally you’ll want t
o reoffer your most important content to followers and visitors often, with simil
ar or different wordings.
• A Twitter post is so short that headline tweaks for conversions definitely work
best to attract users and increase conversions.
• Updating old blog posts and re-marketing them to keep the buzz alive about y
our post, This should be done every 3-6 months for all posts.
• Use #hashtags, represent your opinions on current trends, use emojis, mostly
use for social issues, and sharing most important contents.

A video sharing platform
• Good video scripting is your essential skill here. If you don’t have it, hire some
one who can do it.
• As for video quality, the higher resolution, the better. But even if your videos a
re the best do-it-yourself you can make, what’s important is that you produce
new, well-scripted videos regularly.
• The most successful brands have 50% more videos per channel compared to
the least successful ones.
• Not just a good script, but a good call to action, too!
Pinterest
Pin your contents and share with people having same interest as you
• It's image-based marketing– you’ve got to attract those peoples’ eyes!
• Images are key.
• Take as much time focusing on the message your image will convey, as you d
o on your textual content. Both must work together to communicate a messag
e that the audience can closely relate to.
• Pinterest is naturally equipped to promote visuals, and infographics are visual
s, no matter the content element.
LinkedIn
Business networking is the main motto
• If you work for a business, a corporate client or even for yourself as a freelanc
er or solopreneur, LinkedIn can offer more than a chance to grow professional
ly and get new leads and clients.
• A well maintained LinkedIn account can attract leads, employers, employees,
vendors and partners.
• What I like about LinkedIn is it’s geared for business and not socializing. It’s m
ain objective is to show off your attributes, achievements, skills, experience a
nd accolades in the business world.

• Knowledge-based marketing is key here.
• People come to SlideShare to study material in presentation form that will hel
p them walk away with additional knowledge to use in school, work and life.
• People want to be educated, so they can make confident decisions about thei
r purchases.

sections (preferably in bullet-point style), ―be consistent with your brand.

• Use Google Analytics to measure the performance of website or android app.
• Get a significant amount of traffic from Google+, not doing anything other than
posting content on G+ page.
Instagram

• It is a free social networking app that lets users capture and share photos and
videos.
• Tell the world more about yourself (or not)
• Find people to follow
• Use inbuilt filters to the photo.
• Use stories in Instagram.

BASICS OF SOCIAL MEDIA  The objective of Social Media Marketing (SMM) is to attract a user base through Social Media and build a relationship with it.  Social Media Marketing takes time and must be scheduled in advance, month after month.  Social Media users don’t appreciate being left hanging for weeks without updates– let them know why you left for a while if you had to and make sure there’s always somethin g for them to do while you’re away. For example, if you we nt on a summer vacation, you may leave a social post like this: “We at ABC Company are going on vacation! How’s y ours so far? Share your story in the comments below. :-)”. I’m sure you see the point. “…websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to par ticipate in social networking.”

Facebook A leading social media platform used world-wide for business • Be aware that Facebook is mostly a leisure-centered platform, with game and hobby apps and pages everywhere, so try to play this to your advantage. For example, by adding humour to your posts and images that make people smile while still conveying your message. • Make sure your content is optimized to drive traffic back to your website or blo g. Fill out ALL profile information! • Also, re-share page posts on your Facebook profile to get more views and to t ake advantage of your Newsfeed. Don’t spam, though, or Facebook will come after you. • Don’t add random people to your friends and send page invites to everybody! • Start with your current customers and your website visitors (use existing email lists).

Twitter A micro-blogging site for all brands and people • Twitter is a personable platform, so similar to text messages that you can effe ctively use it with only basic copywriting techniques for headlines: sweet, conc ise, to-the-point. • Tweets fade away from the main stream pretty quickly, so ideally you’ll want t o reoffer your most important content to followers and visitors often, with simil ar or different wordings. • A Twitter post is so short that headline tweaks for conversions definitely work best to attract users and increase conversions. • Updating old blog posts and re-marketing them to keep the buzz alive about y our post, This should be done every 3-6 months for all posts. • Use #hashtags, represent your opinions on current trends, use emojis, mostly use for social issues, and sharing most important contents.
  • 10. YouTube A video sharing platform • Good video scripting is your essential skill here. If you don’t have it, hire some one who can do it. • As for video quality, the higher resolution, the better. But even if your videos a re the best do-it-yourself you can make, what’s important is that you produce new, well-scripted videos regularly. • The most successful brands have 50% more videos per channel compared to the least successful ones. • Not just a good script, but a good call to action, too!

Pinterest Pin your contents and share with people having same interest as you • It's image-based marketing– you’ve got to attract those peoples’ eyes! • Images are key. • Take as much time focusing on the message your image will convey, as you d o on your textual content. Both must work together to communicate a messag e that the audience can closely relate to. • Pinterest is naturally equipped to promote visuals, and infographics are visual s, no matter the content element.

LinkedIn Business networking is the main motto • If you work for a business, a corporate client or even for yourself as a freelanc er or solopreneur, LinkedIn can offer more than a chance to grow professional ly and get new leads and clients. • A well maintained LinkedIn account can attract leads, employers, employees, vendors and partners. • What I like about LinkedIn is it’s geared for business and not socializing. It’s m ain objective is to show off your attributes, achievements, skills, experience a nd accolades in the business world.

SlideShare Business presentation & slides sharing website • Knowledge-based marketing is key here. • People come to SlideShare to study material in presentation form that will hel p them walk away with additional knowledge to use in school, work and life. • People want to be educated, so they can make confident decisions about thei r purchases. • Your SlideShare presentation should be mostly visual, have easily skimmable sections (preferably in bullet-point style), ―be consistent with your brand. • And calls to action are the focus of your marketing effort— after you helped yo ur reader build knowledge and skills, it’s time to invite the reader to learn mor e at your or your client’s website, to buy a product or a service or just to give s omething a try (demos, trials, freebies).

Google+ Google’s own socializing platform • Google+ allows posts that work like forum threads, so you can effectively use this characteristic to your advantage, whether you run a page or a profile on G+. • All in all, G+ is a no-clutter social network, so you can fully focus on your nich e without distractions. • Make sure you use #hashtags in posts- they will help people find your posts a nd interact with you. • Use Google My Business to add your business location to the Google Map an d Local Business List. • Use Google Analytics to measure the performance of website or android app. • Get a significant amount of traffic from Google+, not doing anything other than posting content on G+ page.

Instagram Facebook’s Image sharing platform • It is a free social networking app that lets users capture and share photos and videos. • Tell the world more about yourself (or not) • Find people to follow • Use inbuilt filters to the photo. • Use stories in Instagram. • Upload Images/Videos to the Instagram App.
