Activity 2-unit 2-update 2024. English translation
Media task 3
1. Task 3 What have I learnt from
audience feedback?
2. Types of feedback
• When gathering our feedback we aim to
gather both quantitative and qualitative
feedback
• We used questionnaire's to get quantitative
data
• We used interviews to get qualitative data
3. • Qualitative research gathers information that is not in
numerical form. Qualitative data is typically descriptive data
and such is harder analyze than quantitative data, it helps find
the depth. For example unstructured and group interviews as
it allows the respondent to talk in depth which is useful when
responding to our media products
• Quantitative research gathers data in numerical form which
can be put into categories or in rank order, or measured in
units of measurement. This type of data can be used to
construct graphs and tables of raw data
4. Advantages of Interviews
• Interviews allow us to collect personal opinions about
our music video and understand the persons thoughts
and feelings
• The information is precise and specific as the
respondents are answering the questions that we need
• We can choose who is answering them so we will get
members of our target audience as well as others so it
is fair
• We can respond instantly by asking why they think
certain things such as Why did you not like the close up
of our artist at this point which you cannot do on
questionnaire's so we will have depth to our responses
5. Disadvantages of Interviews
• It is not widespread throughout society so
therefore opinions are limited whereas with a
questionnaire we can send it to more people
so therefore more responses
• People may feel pressured to respond nicely
so this makes it un reliable as we cannot
improve properly if people do not tell the
truth
6. Our Questionnaire
• We created a survey using survey monkey to send to people that are the same age
or similar age to our target audience, this is so we could get sufficient feedback on
what we could improve regarding our three media products
• 1) What do you think of our music video and why?
• 2) Would you want to watch our video again?
• 3) What other artists if any do you think are similar to Lola Banks?
• 4) What do you think of our digi pak and why?
• 5) Do you like the handwritten font on our digi-pak and why?
• 6) Do you think we effectively portrayed the star image of our artist through our
digi-pak and why?
• 7) What do you think of our website and why?
• 8) Do you think we effectively portrayed our artist to our target audience through
our website?
• 9) What would you change about our website and why?
7. Responses Of Our Questionnaire
• Question 1:
• We collected really good feedback from our target audience regarding our music
video such as it is really fun and upbeat, how the split screens were a really good
feature and our artist really suited her star image. This is really positive as we were
aiming for an upbeat, fun video
8. Question 2
The second question that we asked our target audience is
whether they would watch our video again this is an important
question as it shows whether we have succeeded in making our
video interesting a fun. Every person answered yes to this
question which we were really happy with.
9. Question 3
We asked what artists were similar to ours, we received answers such as
Ke$ha, Lily Allen, Jessie J, PINK. We were aiming for our artist as there
star images are similar to Lola Banks as being youthful, pop artists with a
punk, rebellious edge to them so our target audience recognised what
we were trying to portray through our artist.
10. Question 4
We asked what our target audience thought of our digi pak and why we got
responses such as is eye-catching, the colours are good. We were aiming for an
eye – catching digi-pak that further portrayed our artists star image of her
rebellious side. This was not commented on so perhaps we could have mad
this more clear with different pictures and different grafitti backgrounds so
that it would be more clear of what we were trying to portray
11. Question 5
We asked our target audience if they liked the hand written font on the digi-
pak. We got feedback such as it is really personal , eye catching. We wanted it
too attract a young target audience so this was really successful. However we
could have made it bolder to emphasize her punk attitude
12. Question 6
We asked whether we effectively showed our artists star image through the digi-
pak and why. We only got responses saying ‘yes’ which means that it was
effective but we didn’t get any responses saying why, this is not useful for our
feedback as we did not get too see why the audience thought this therefore
could not improve and make it even better in the future
13. Question 7
Our third media product was our website so we needed feedback on what our
audience thought of this as a website is extremely important for an artist as it
is usually what sells her further other than her music. We found from our
feedback that our website represented her star image really well, the
information is really easy to find. However they said we should have made link
s to her social media sites, which is what we can imporve on as it will further
sell her as an artist
14. Question 8
We asked if we effectively portrayed our artists star
image through our website and the feedback was all
yes. This is really good as we tried to show our artists
star image as much as we could through colours,
pictures and fonts
15. Question 9
We asked what we could change about our website so we could see
what would make it more attractive to audiences and sell her better. We
collected answers such as behind the scenes footage, social media links ,
more pictures this would make it more personal towards her.
16. You Tube statistics
Our youtube statistics have failed to tell us the percentage of males
and females who have been watching our music video, this could be
because people who viewed our video do not have youtube accounts
themselves. We had an 84% playback which means that people
enjoyed our video and 18% embedded into other websites which
means its spreading due to an active audience. All the people who
have watched it have been in the UK which means she has not spread
far.
