  1. 1. GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE KONI, BILASPUR (C.G.) IOC DALLI RAJHARA MINES, BALOD (CHHATISGARH) Submitted to Prof. A.K. Tiwari Assistant professor Submitted By Manish Sai Pravendra Bhagat Jyoti Jangde Lalita Kashyap A presentation on Vocational Training from
  2. 2. CONTENT Introduction Machine and vehicle Crushing and conveying facilities Diesel engine Conclusion
  3. 3. INTRODUCTION  This plant is located in DALLI RAJHARA, BALOD (CHHATISGARH).  This plant is Eleven - times winner of Prime Minister’s Trophy for best Integrated Steel Plant in the country, Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP).  This plant is India's largest producer of rails and heavy steel plates and major producer of structural, TMT bars and rods.  The Dalli rajhara plant is also called home of iron ore captive mines for this Bhilai Steel Plant.  Iron ore mined from the area are hematite and magnetite variety.
  4. 4. Machine and vehicle SHOVEL (BE1000-10)  It is a hydraulic excavator  it is used to excavate the materials and loading it to the dumpers  It's bucket capacities is 3.1-5.55 cu. meter and 4.5-7.0 cu. meter.  ENGINE : 4 stroke, Six cylinders diesel engine of 170 mm bore x 170 mm stroke .
  5. 5. Crawler Dozer  Crawler dozers are continuous tracked machines fitted with front-mounted blades to move or push large quantities of material such as soil, sand and rubble.  Attached to the back of a crawler dozer is a ripper to break and loosen compacted materials.  Crawler dozers have engines from 45 to over 700 horsepower.  6 inline, Diesel 4 stroke, water cooled, turbo charged
  6. 6. Dumper (BH60M)  It is a vehicle designed for carrying bulk materials  its capacity is 60 tons  It is used to shift material from quarry to crushing plant.  Maximum payload 54,500 kg
  7. 7. Crushing and Conveying facility  A crusher is a machine designed to reduce large rocks into smaller rocks, gravel, sand or rock dust  The degree to which material is reduced through stages of primary and secondary crushing can depend on the type of material Bunker  Bunker is basically a storage unit where we dump the extracted raw iron it.  This plant contain three bunkers first one main bunker, other is new and old bunker.  The capacity of one bunker is 2100 tones and other both bunkers are 750 tonnes.
  8. 8. Conveyor Belts
  9. 9. Gyratory crushers  Gyratory crushers are characterized by a gyrating mantle mounted within a deep bowl.  Gyratory crushers provide continuous crushing action and are used for both primary and secondary crushing of hard, tough, abrasive rock.  This produces a higher crushing capacity than others. Gyratory crushers also tend to be easier to operate.
  10. 10. Jaw Crusher (Primary crusher)  From the canveyor iron ore directly fall into the jaw crusher.  The jaw crushers in Rajhara plant is having a capacity of 750T/ hr.  The basic details of jaw crusher : Feed Input size is– 0 - 1200mm . Crushed output size is - 0 to 220mm .
  11. 11. Cone crusher (Secondary crusher)  Secondary crushing accepts the material from the primary crushing stage i.e jaw crusher and reduces it even further.  The output of jaw crusher conveying through the conveyor, the ore is allowed to feed cone crusher.  The baic details of cone crusher is: feed input size- 0 to 220mm. Crushed output size - 0 to 90mm . Capacity of cone crusher - 1000T / hr
  12. 12. Electromechanical vibrator screens  For screening of crushed ore there are total 7 vibrator screens are available .  The output of cone crusher is conveyed through conveyor2 and finally the crushed ore is feed into mid bunker of capacity 600 tonne  The screens of these vibrator screens are slightly inclined or nearly horizontal , because of which it requires less head room than inclined screens  The accuracy of particle sizing on horizontal screens is superior to that on inclined screens  Horizontal screens are used in sizing applications where screening efficiency is critical
  13. 13. Apron feeder  The apron feeder is used for handling course ore especially jaw crusher feed  It is ruggedly constructed , consisting of a series of high carbon or manganese steel pans, bolted to strands of heavy duty chain ,which nun on steel spockets  In Rajhara C.S.P. the width of the apron feeder is usually 6 feet
  14. 14. Diesel engine Diesel engine, any internal combustion engine in which air is compressed to a sufficiently high temperature to ignite diesel fuel. It converts the chemical energy stored in the fuel into mechanical energy
  15. 15. Four stroke diesel engine  Intake: Air (light blue) is drawn into the cylinder through the open green air inlet valve on the right as the piston moves down.  Compression: The inlet valve closes, the piston moves up, and compresses the air mixture, heating it up. Fuel (dark blue) is injected into the hot gas through the central fuel injection valve and spontaneously ignites. Unlike with a gas engine, no sparking plug is needed to make this happen.  Power: As the air-fuel mixture ignites and burns, it pushes the piston down, driving the crankshaft (red wheel at bottom) that sends power to the wheels.  Exhaust: The green outlet valve on the left opens to let out the exhaust gases, pushed out by the returning piston.
  16. 16. Important components 1. Fuel system 2. Lubrication system 3. Cooling system  Fuel system In an engine, fuel reaches the cylinder bore through the following path: Fuel tank -> Water separator -> Feed pump -> Filter -> Injection pump -> Injector nozzle -> Cylinder
  17. 17.  Lubrication system The engine lubrication system is to distribute oil to the moving parts to reduce friction between surfaces. Purposes of lubrication include i. Reduces the wear and prevents seizure of rubbing surfaces ii. Reduces the power needed to overcome frictional resistance  Cooling system  To avoid excess heat and to protect engine components including cylinders, cylinder head, pistons, and valves  There are two types of cooling: 1) Air Cooling 2) Water Cooling
  18. 18. Conclusion  The Vocational training designed by IOC, Dalli Rajhara, Bhilai Steel Plant (SAIL). Gave us a pronounced opportunity to gain industrial experience and exposure to the practical world.  SAIL is an integrated mining steel plant which deals with extraction, processing (beneficiation) and manufacturing.  The the ore is collected in the field is sent to processing plant To be processed as per specification of the clients.  During this training we learnt how to categorize ore.  This vocational training has given us new insights and motivation to pursue a career In steel industry.
