The Strategy
Treansition from Paper to Mobile
GoCanvas Senior Mobile Application Consultants worked with FSC Owner Mace
Bourgeois to determine where the major problems were with their existing reporting
and informa-tion collection process.
Mace used his existing forms as templates to build mobile forms with the GoCanvas
builder. Consultants facilitated field testing before deployment to ensure usability
among sales and service representatives for the following mobile forms:
• Installation Certificates - Show each customer before and after pictures of equip-
ment installation and a description of work completed.
• Installation Inventory - Records every piece of equipment required for install so the
main office can adjust inventory levels accordingly.
• Punch List and Post Repair Report - Tracks any additional work required after an
initial equipment installation.
• Restaurant Reports, Exit and Emergency Lighting Report, Fire Extinguisher Reports
Features including photo capture, required fields, and pre-populated dropdowns
connected to company data (customer, equipment lists) were implemented into their
mobile forms to ensure that a complete, detailed report is submitted for every job.
The Results
Happier Office Staff
Since Fire and Safety Commodities implemented GoCanvas among their office
employees and service technicians, they quickly realized an increased central office
efficiency. No longer do office staff chase technicians for paper forms or confirm work
information. Now as soon as a service report is completed on a job site, it is instantly
sent back to the office for processing. The reports are also more detailed, including all
fields filled out and job completion photos attached. This makes customer dispute
resolution much easier when the records are 100% accurate.
Improved Reporting
FSC now has a better view on forecasting revenue on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
Since all reports are now turned in on time, the office staff are able to pull Excel based
reports whenever they wish! This type of reporting is also true for inventory, equipment
used, and employee hours.

processes, as well as an easy way to onboard new employees. Today, all employees are
