3. INTRODUCTION
India is the world’s 2nd most Populated country in the world and also 15th biggest globally in generating huge amount of
plastic waste every day.
The key missing aspect i.e. “Waste Management System”
The Laziness of our people or Unavailability of the recycle bin near them.
Harming the environment
Threat to the mother earth.
So, Throwing plastic into dustbin is not only the solution
Plastic waste disposal is one of the troublesome process
We have designed a device which encourages people to dispose plastic to the recycle and in the machine the plastic
bottle is shredded into small granulations which makes plastic disposal easy.
4. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT
To study and fabricate a prototype model for extrusion of plastic products or waste plastic to
Collection of plastic waste material and reuse it
Study of Shredder machine with Different elements like Blades, V-belt Drive , Double and Frame Body
Fabrication of Shredder in Compact Size
Less manufacturing cost with best output
Use of Machine at local recycles stations
Development with Double Shaft
6. Conceptualization
A shredding machine even a common person can operate it.
Less manufacturing cost as well
the maintenance cost is very less as compared to that of other available shredding machines.
This shredder machine would best suit the small recycling plants and in public places.
7. Model Design :
The design of the project was prepared using a CAD model. Each part of the model was prepared in NX Unigraphics
software is shown in the Figures,

The design is partially completed the fabrication of the model will be done as per the design.

10. LIST OF PARTS
The main parts we used and will be using for the machine is as follow
1.5 HP Single phase AC motor
Shredder blades
Shredder Shaft
Bearings UCFL205DI
Reduction drive
Collector
Heating Coil
12. WORKING:
The working is very simple and it is explained as follows;
Firstly ,when plastic bottle is deposited to the hoper the machine starts to run
When the machine turn on The shredder blades start to rotate
The bottle in the shredder unit is cutted/shredded into small granulations ,
The plastic granulations is then made to collect in the collector bin at the bottom of the machine,
Then the granulations are heated up to some temperature.
And that granulations are compressed to required shape and then it is proceeding to recycle process
13. ADVANTAGES
High rate of production
The machine productivity and particle size of the shredded material is defined.
Highest safety for operator
By knife width, knife diameter, knife form as well as the installed power of machine
Plastic extrusions, films and sheets, injection moulded parts, rubber hoses
These plastic shredders are designed for use on a variety of materials from manufacturing process.
Size reduction is often required in order to prepare the materials for mixing or initial heating in the extrusions or
forming process
14. DISADVANTAGES
Recycling produces pollutants after the breaking down of plastic
It is not cost effective and usually incur a huge loss
Recycling does not guarantee good quality for the products
The jobs created by these recycling industries are of low grade and quality
The value given to the recycled products is low and are always looked down upon
15. FIELD OF APPLICATIONS
Plastic shredder is used in following fields for recycling purpose
CD’s, computer hard drives and boards, carbon tapes
Paper, card board, file completely filled
Tin and plastic cans
PET bottles
Wood, wooden boxes, pallets
Cables and electronic waste
Plastic housings
16. CONCLUSION:
The machine we have planned to fabricate is a modified version of plastic bottle shredding machine which is used
domestic area,
The available domestic plastic bottle shredding machines are very costly ranging from 2.5 to 5.7 lakhs,
The key feature of our project is that we have estimated and planned our project cost to be below Rs:40,000/-
We have even designed to add an extra feature in the machine i.e. ‘Reverse- Coin dispenser’ which rewards the people with
some rupees , whenever a bottle is deposited by them.
Huge advances are being made in the development of technologies to recycle plastic waste among other resources.
To recycle the plastic one has to collect it and transport it to recycling center.
It is necessary to transport a huge volume of plastic at once by shredding them into pieces.
Our machine helps in increasing the volume of transportation by reducing the volume of plastic bottles byshredding them into
pieces.
This helps in reducing the emissions at the time of transportation and also used to recycle plastic wastes
17. FUTURE SCOPE:
Can dispense drinking water in return of plastic bottles.
Can implement ticket vending in return of plastic bottles
Can interlink online so that the money will be sent directly to bank
account when deposited and feed with phone number to the device
Can issue Chocolates or snacks like vending machines when a bottle is deposited
Solar energy can be used for power supply
The plastic granulations obtained after shredding the bottles can be used in manufacturing plastic tiles, tar .etc.
18. BARRIERS TO
COMPLETE THE PROJECT:
We had asked for an laser cutting company in Peenya Industrial area for the manufacturing of our shredder
blades, due to the pandemic suituation we are not able to visit the company, and the prices for manufacturing is
also high .
Unless we manufacture a shredder unit we cannot select a specific motor, mechanisms to buy ,
Even design may also change if any changes happen in the shredder unit
All the electrical and circuit workers are partially ready in order to check them we need the complete shredder unit ,
motor, reduction gears etc.
The all design and 3D model of the stand, hoper, assembly is ready now.
As soon has we get the shredder unit in hand we can approximately complete our project in 2 weeks of time.
