6 Quick Tips to Improve Your Compliance Program

  1. 1. 6 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
  2. 2. 1. CLEAN UP YOUR BULLETIN BOARD Is that minimum wage flyer from 1999 still posted? Or are your posters stained with sauce from the 2010 office chili cook-off? A tidy bulletin board can be an effective tool for communicating a variety of information to employees, so start the year off fresh by getting rid of old, unnecessary posters.  Page 26 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
  3. 3. 2. PURCHASE ELECTRONIC POSTINGS FOR YOUR REMOTE EMPLOYEES All your labor law posters at your physical company locations are up-to-date, but did you know you have to provide these to your remote employees as well? Implementing an electronic poster program for your employees is the best way to ensure compliance and make your employees aware of their rights Page 36 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
  4. 4. 3. SELF-AUDIT YOUR LABOR LAW POSTERS For employers without QR Code enabled posters, you can audit each poster with the revision date, also known as “earliest date for compliance." The revision date changes when there's a mandatory update or a poster is reprinted for inventory. Therefore, the poster compliance date is on or after the date on your poster. For posters with QR code technology, reduce the amount of time required to complete compliance audits with three simple steps:  Locate the QR code on the poster (usually near the bottom) Scan the QR code with your mobile device The scan will instantly inform you whether the poster is compliant Page 46 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
  5. 5. 4. UPDATE OR ADD WAGE ORDERS TO APPLICABLE LOCATIONS It's important to stay up-to-date on these, as they are often required along with the state-wide minimum wage requirements. Quickly updating or adding these postings can be a quick fix to ensure you’re covering all wage-related activity.   Page 56 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
  6. 6. 5. UPDATE (OR FILL-IN) YOUR FILL-IN-THE-BLANK POSTINGS If this information is not filled out, your posting is technically not compliant. So, go double check each of your postings (or have your locations check) to ensure your labor law postings are filled in with the most updated information. 7. 7. 6. CREATE CUSTOM POLICY POSTINGS WITH YOUR COMPANY BRANDING In addition to the required federal, state, county and city labor law postings displayed in each of your locations, many companies like yours also have specific internal policies to communicate to employees. These include codes of conduct, open-door policies, safety guidelines and more.  Update these postings to reflect the most up-to-date policies and company branding. Not only will your workplaces look professional, your employees will thank you as well! CODE OF CONDUCT Page 76 QUICK TIPS TO IMPROVE YOUR COMPLIANCE PROGRAM
