Battle Of Hope Contest
Man Of Steel
The Concept
• Warner Bros. Pictures & Shooting Stars LLC were
giving a chance to win Special Edition “Man Of Steel”
Nokia Lumia 720.
• A custom Facebook app was created where fans
where asked to compete against each other by
choosing a side each.
• Winners were to be selected from the side that gets
maximum entries at the end of the contest.
App - Battle Of Hope
The Facebook App
• The contest was in the
form of a Facebook app.
• A ‘like-gate’ was installed
to ensure non-fans like
the fan page before
participating.
• On the next page fans
were asked to fill in
few basic details.
• All entries were
captured in a
database at the
backend.
• The user now had to
choose his/her side
and proceed.
• The user still doesn’t
know which side has
the maximum
entries.
• Once they chose a
side they were asked
to submit their
answer to the
following question
“I deserve to win
because _____.”
• Each vote was counted on a live ticker which
was displayed on the app itself.
• Because of which, interactions increased as
users prompted friends to participate in the
same side as theirs.
• The lucky winners were picked from the side
with maximum votes.
• The contest was on for a period of 30 days.
• 2 lucky winners were selected from the side
which won maximum votes.
How did we go viral?
• Fans were able to invite their friends to the
app, thereby increasing interaction.
• Auto wall posts, which increased the visibility
of the contest user’s newsfeed.
How did we promote the contest?
• The contest was
promoted on a frequent
basis to reach to out to
existing fans.
• Facebook ads were run
to bring in new fans on
the page and increase
participation.
What did we achieve?
• Reaching out to more fans organically.
• Interacting with our fans on the page.
• Engagement.
• Higher recall for MAN OF STEEL & SHOOTING
STARS.
The story on twitter..
• The contest was open to all the resident of
United Arab Emirates.
• One could tweet and retweet as many times.
• It was mandatory to use the hashtag and
mention @ShootingStarsae in each of their
tweets.
• The tweet had to answer the following
“I deserve a chance to win because ______.”
The most creative answer would win the contest.

  • 2. The Concept • Warner Bros. Pictures & Shooting Stars LLC were giving a chance to win Special Edition “Man Of Steel” Nokia Lumia 720. • A custom Facebook app was created where fans where asked to compete against each other by choosing a side each. • Winners were to be selected from the side that gets maximum entries at the end of the contest. App - Battle Of Hope
  • 3. The Facebook App • The contest was in the form of a Facebook app. • A ‘like-gate’ was installed to ensure non-fans like the fan page before participating.
  • 4. • On the next page fans were asked to fill in few basic details. • All entries were captured in a database at the backend.
  • 5. • The user now had to choose his/her side and proceed. • The user still doesn’t know which side has the maximum entries.
  • 6. • Once they chose a side they were asked to submit their answer to the following question “I deserve to win because _____.”
  • 7. • Each vote was counted on a live ticker which was displayed on the app itself. • Because of which, interactions increased as users prompted friends to participate in the same side as theirs. • The lucky winners were picked from the side with maximum votes.
  • 8. • The contest was on for a period of 30 days. • 2 lucky winners were selected from the side which won maximum votes.
  • 9. How did we go viral? • Fans were able to invite their friends to the app, thereby increasing interaction. • Auto wall posts, which increased the visibility of the contest user’s newsfeed.
  • 10. How did we promote the contest? • The contest was promoted on a frequent basis to reach to out to existing fans. • Facebook ads were run to bring in new fans on the page and increase participation.

  • 12. What did we achieve? • Reaching out to more fans organically. • Interacting with our fans on the page. • Engagement. • Higher recall for MAN OF STEEL & SHOOTING STARS.

The story on twitter.. • The contest was open to all the resident of United Arab Emirates. • One could tweet and retweet as many times. • It was mandatory to use the hashtag and mention @ShootingStarsae in each of their tweets. • The tweet had to answer the following “I deserve a chance to win because ______.” The most creative answer would win the contest.
