- 4. www.grow-smarter.eu Final Conference I GrowSmarter I 03.12.2019 GrowSmarter Lessons Learned • Renovation in the current tenancy • High developmet costs - Settlement was built on old industrial wasteland - Upstream network had to be strengthened - Conversion to larger house connections • High coordination effort between the individual trades in the construction field - Dependencies on other trades - Manufacturer's promises were partially not fulfilled • Little space for the system technology - Basement rooms had to be rented • Error in the measured values - Data volume: approx. 6,000 data points per building every 15 minutes

- Now a few words about our main and largest SmartCity Cologne Project: GrowSmarter. Together with the cities Stockholm and Barcelona, Cologne is a lighthouse city in this Horizon 2020 project. The vision is transforming cities for a smart, sustainable Europe. In a rapidly urbanising world cities need to become smarter to respond to citizen needs and to reduce their environmental footprint. GrowSmarter brings together cities and industry to integrate and demonstrate ‘12 smart city solutions’ in energy, infrastructure and transport, to provide other cities with valuable insights on how they work in practice and opportunities for replication. As cities face similar challenges, the idea is to create a ready market for these smart solutions to support growth and the transition to a smart, sustainable Europe.
- We follow an integrated project approach. As mentioned, the three areas of implementation are energy, infrastructure and transport. Each of the lighthouse cities coordinates one of these topics. Within the low energy district, we work on ….
