Hp - 27mai2011

Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Thank-youToday I would like to give you a brief overview of HP and our vision for enterprises and how HP can help you get there.
  2. World is changingToday, everything is mobile, connected, interactive, immediate, and fluid. To gain competitive or service advantage in the face of these new customer and constituent patterns requires technology be at the very forefront of enterprise innovation and growth. Tomorrow’s leaders will be organizations that leverage technology to capitalize rather than simply adapt to changing customer expectations. Three megatrends are shaping the next generation of successful businesses and governments
  3. Note this can be used in place of the following 3 Business models - Technology combined with extreme markets drive new business models. These models are created from market conditions such as customer demand for very low price points, poor infrastructure, or hard-to-access suppliers. In hyper growth or recessionary times, technology often drives new buying patterns for goods, lower barriers to entry for markets, or leap frogs over an entire generation of business models. For Ex: ‘As-a-service’ models are driving new ways to purchase and consume commodities; Emerging countries have leapfrogged land based communications for mobile computing, and at the same time, laid down the base for electronic financial transactions Fundamental shifts in technology –information, cloud and connectivity will fundamentally shift the expectations and role of IT in the enterprise. Each type of computing brings new ways to deliver services to enterprises and their customers and citizens. The coming decade could see 25M applications, 4B people online, 31B connected devices, 1.3T sensors, delivering 50 trillion gigabytes of data. This type of connectivity will build new industries that deliver real-time, immediate services. At the heart of all this — the convergence of cloud computing and connectivity is fundamentally changing how technology is delivered, and how information is consumed. On-premise, proprietary computing resources are gradually being complemented and even replaced by the massive, agile and open computing resources of the cloud. And the cloud is combining with mobility to create ubiquitous connectivity.  The world is connected: people to people, people to machines, machines to machines …and people to the information they care about…where and when they want it, personally and professionally. But there are more human factors involved as well.Changing Workforce - Social media, consumerization of IT, and changing demographics are fundamentally changing how work gets done in enterprises. Social media facilitates instant connections to ideas and collaboration within and outside the enterprise. It can quickly provide feedback and involve the customer in the evolution of the product or service. By 2014, there will be 130 million enterprise users in the mobile cloud delivering real-time information into the enterprise. As a result, traditional methods of information management and analytics will no longer be sufficient. Net Gen & Gen-X employees into the workforce brings a new way of looking at problems. This generation is used to looking at technology as merely a service delivery platform. As they replace the baby boomers, who will retire en masse over the next 15 years, they will be promoted more rapidly than their predecessors and fundamentally change how the enterprise works.
  4. Disruptive business models occur when technology combines with extreme market conditions, such as customer demand for very low price points, poor infrastructure, or hard-to-access suppliers (McKinsey). Require organizations to think differently about their business or service model and how technology can enable that new model. Technology often drives new buying patterns for goods, lower barriers to entry for markets, or leap frogs over an entire generation of business models. Examples: Jet engines sold as units of thrust. Customers no longer have a large capital outlay upfront, but instead are charged by a unit of work. Embedded technology is the only way this is possible. Heart monitors worn by patients outside the hospital use cell phones to notify of troubleGlobal multinationals used to be the only manufacturers who could access low price points by globalizing their supply chains. Now manufacturing-as –a- service exists via technology with a trusted third party marrying the buyer and the seller. No investment in production capabilities is required by the buyer. Insurance pricing based on real time driving rather than age What do they have in common. All are enabled by technologyWhat does this all mean? It means that technology is a fundamental enabler of innovation and it has been reinventing bricks & mortar industries and government services across many waves of computing.
  5. Fundamental shifts in technology – Information, Cloud and Connectivity will fundamentally shift the expectations and role of IT in the enterprise. By 2010 there will be: 25M applications serving 4B people who are online, through 31B connected devices. What does this all mean? Add in 1.3T tags/sensors chattering away, you get 50T gigabytes of data being created. Combining people with the data created, you will get new ways to satisfy the ever increasing expectations of the customer or citizen who wants everything now. This type of connectivity will build new virtual industries that deliver a new class of aggregated services globally. It must meet the needs of the Prosumer.Ultimately, all changes how goods and services are purchased and received. It will shift from mass markets of many to micro markets of one. Delivering a seamless, secure, context-aware experiences for a connected world
  6. Social media, consumerization of IT, and changing demographics are fundamentally changing how work gets done in enterprises. Social media facilitates instant connections to ideas and collaboration within and outside the enterprise. It can quickly provide feedback and involve the customer in the evolution of the product or service. It can help individuals connect and create new innovation for the industry. Adoption is being driven by the consumerization of IT and the demand that a set of self selected technology tools to be used in the work environment. This personalization will challenge the traditional role of IT as a supplier and evolve it into the role of broker of services. As manufacturing jobs have migrated to emerging countries, knowledge based worker jobs have steadily increased. By 2015, 50% of the information they need to do their job, will come from outside the enterprise. This will require technology to serve it to them in consumable chunks. The entry of the Net Gen & Gen-X employees into the workforce brings a new way of looking at problems. This generation is used to looking at everything they consume as a service. For them the “not invented here syndrome” is a foreign concept. As they follow the baby boomers, who will retire in massive numbers over the next 10 years, these younger entrants in the workforce will be promoted more rapidly. These mega trends will cause a new set of enterprise drivers and motivations that will fundamentally change how consumers interact with businesses and governments.
  7. The most defining fact of today’s reality is the accelerated pace of change – which is both exhilarating and intimidating. It’s a world dominated by instant gratification. We don’t want to wait in line. We want the ability to access what we want, when want and how want. In this new world, life feels more intense but also richer than ever. With so many friends, so many moments to enjoy and so many opportunities to seize the real question is; how do we keep up with it all and make the most of it without sacrificing the quality of our experiences?
  8. Let me introduce the personalization of Information technologyThere is an expanding relationship between people and information. The old paradigm of one person with separate consumer and professional lives is over. People want a seamless, secure, context-aware experience at home, at work, at play, or on the road. We’ve moved to an environment of Everybody On.
  9. Faced with an increasingly unpredictable & volatile economic climate, business and governments will need to determine where to innovate and where to create a variable cost structure. Need to create a Growth/Service Advantage with Confidence. … Confidence means that Enterprises have less margin for error … new services must work right the first time and all the time. Means, they will need to drive innovation faster then ever by picking the right projects at the right time. The new enterprise will need to know how to test these projects in smarter, faster, more efficient ways to identify issues or problems.
  10. The world is instant. Your enterprise must be too.HP believes that tomorrow’s industry and government leaders will be those organizations that capitalize on technology to take time out of the equation.  These organizations will:Explore better ways to run the business & governmentDesign new processes and methods to meet changing customer and constituent demands Build flexible systems that meet ever-broadening requirementsInteract with customers, constituents, employees and partners more quickly, and with greater personalizationTransact efficiently, effectively, and securelyGovern the organization and partners to meet legal and ethical goals HP has a strategy for these organizations. It’s called the Instant-On Enterprise. Instant-On Enterprise serves customers, employees, partners, and citizens with whatever they want and need, instantly, at any point in time and through any channel. It enables HP’s overall vision Everybody On.It uses technology to integrate and automate the value chain. It adapts easily and innovates rapidly. It manages risk and environmental responsibilities. Behind the scenes, the Instant-On Enterprise streamlines everything that is required to deliver a service. So what are the drivers for the Instant-On Enterprise
  11. Whether in the private or public sector, there are four critical requirements you need to connect with customers, partners, citizens and employees to gain advantage.Innovation: To accelerate growth and produce higher-quality products and services, an organization has to innovate. Tomorrow’s leaders will do this through the innovative application of technology.Agility: To meet changing customer/citizen demand, enterprises have to accelerate time to market and time to service. In an age of “instant” expectations, you need to have the ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing business and citizen needs. Optimization: Enterprises must optimize to reduce operating costs while improving operational processes. You need to modernize and make strategic investments to improve the efficiency and productivity of your organization and to drive higher ROI.Risk: Enterprises can’t eliminate risk, but you can manage it to your advantage. Whether you’re in a private or public environment, you need to manage risk from a variety of places: the unknown, security threats, regulations, and data.
  12. So how can you help your enterprise meet these requirements? Through technology. But not the same old way it’s been done for the last 40 years. You need to re-invent how you use technology.
  13. To achieve an Instant-On Enterprise IT must deliver 5 critical success factors:  Flexibility: The Instant-On Enterprise runs on applications & services that are always available and can easily adapt to new opportunities.Automation: The Instant-On Enterprise must rapidly scale technology resources up and down reliably to meet changing needs. It neither over- nor under-provisions, but instead instantly meet enterprise demands.Security: In the Instant-On Enterprise, assets, resources, and information are closely guarded to manage risk and protect innovation. They are protected against failure Insight: The Instant-On Enterprise harnesses the power of information to help executives make better decisions. It protects information and delivers it in accordance with enterprise needs.Speed: The Instant-On Enterprise selects the best delivery model for the solution—the delivery model that provides the right outcome, in the right time frame, at the right price. So what’s slowing IT down?
  14. First let’s state the obvious. Most of the enterprise runs on technology. And in our experience, what you have to work with today is less than ideal. Most enterprises are dealing with rigid infrastructure made up of legacy environments, siloed processes, and physical and virtual sprawl. They are experiencing applications and information complexity, driven by an explosion of information and aging assets. On top of that, every day the very connectedness clients need to the outside world is a doorway to harm for their organization. It’s an open invitation to unknown entities looking to do damage. Finally they are often built on an old model that required organizations to custom build and manage everything themselves. What is the outcome of all this?
  15. Many enterprises are spending the bulk of their budgets on operations that is creating a widening gap between what the enterprise demands and what IT can deliver. What they need to do is flip the ratio, moving to 70% innovation and 30% on operations. So faced with these challenges, how do you embed technology to create your own Instant-On enterprise?
  16. There are 5 key steps in the path to the Instant-On Enterprise.Modernize: To create an Instant-On Enterprise, you need to modernize your applications and architect them for change. This will ensure that you can quickly and easily add new functionality. It also ensures that today’s innovation does not become tomorrow’s legacy problem. This approach also reduces the ongoing operational cost of the new solution as compared to its predecessor. Transform: You need to break down the rigid IT silos. The Instant-On Enterprise runs on a converged infrastructure that drives out cost and provides the foundation for agile service delivery. Secure: To create an Instant-On Enterprise, you need to need to protect your assets without constricting innovation. The goal is to ensure that the right people have the right access at the right time. The solutions need to provide customers, employees, partners, and consumers, instant access to the right enterprise assets without compromising risk. Optimize: Today, exabytes of digital information are created, captured, and replicated, and it is complex and time-consuming to manage and exploit information at this massive scale. This complexity is further impacted by the isolation between data and information sources, both internal and external, and the increasing complexity of unstructured data. The Instant-On Enterprise captures, protects, archives, searches, and retrieves the data needed to power the enterprise. Once tamed, you can exploit this data and turn it into insight. Deliver. Finally, you need to select the best method of service delivery to get what you need done in the time you require it, at a cost that meets your needs. Quite simply, you need it the right way for you.

HP can also manage, outsourced, and finance both traditional and private cloud implementation.
  19. So how do all the things we talked about tie together to deliver on the Instant-On Enterprise? Think of it as a taxonomy. At the highest level you have the Instant-On Enterprise it connects to customers, partners, citizens, and employees to meet their needs instantly, at any point in time and through any channel. The Instant-On Enterprise has a set of business/government requirements you need to be successful. These requirements are enabled by the output of the IT organization. Your IT department has really sbecome the strategic broker and builder of IT services. The arrow that passes through your IT department signifies a value chain between a customer/citizen touch point and the technology service required to do it. Components of which may come from outside your organization’s wall. The solutions can be both HP and non-HP as we live in a heterogeneous world. They are delivered in one of three ways traditional (in-house, outsourced) private cloud, and public cloud to create a service portfolio that drives that value chain. Those services are then delivered to the customer/citizen touch point which could be a mobile application, web, chat, or Instant-message to name a few. So how can HP help you create an Instant-On Enterprise? Each of the solutions are comprised from a portfolio of industry leading offerings second to none. Let’s take a closer look at each of the solution areas
  20. Consider a typical application with a life cycle of—say—15 years. About 8 percent of its cost is acquisition. 92 percent is maintenance.  A line-of-business manager asks for this application and funds its purchase. Then for the next 15 years, the IT department has to pay for maintenance—the 92 percent. If you’re going to put applications in, you have to consider how to take them out. Not enough organizations do. They add new applications on top of old ones. This feeds a complexity that plagues organizations. About 70 to 80 percent of typical IT budgets end up being used for non-differential, non-competitive purposes—keeping the lights on. And it’s in the area of application maintenance that the bulk of that money is absorbed.Application transformation solutions attack this complexity. The first step is to ask which applications do you actually need? Doing nothing in this space is not acceptable and not necessary. That’s why we've coined the term "attacking the cost of doing nothing." Organizations have to continue to innovate, have to continue to differentiate. And for the bulk of organizations, applications are the vehicle that deliver business process and customer interaction. Therefore, doing nothing to them means you lag behind your competitors. With HP Application Transformation we have helped clients optimize operating costs by up to 60% & achieve ROI faster. Our approach:  Assess. More than 70 percent of CIOs will admit they have actually no idea what their applications portfolio actually looks like, and therefore have no idea how much they're spending on it. So first and foremost, we have to understand what it is they have. Secondly, analyze where the money is spent and what technologies are being used, which is modern technology, what is old technology, what is costing money, what is not costing money, how business processes are supported. By the way, and when we say "applications," we are also – and I'll come back to it – considering the underpinning infrastructure. And in that plan, we also have to take account of future-state architectures such as what will they do about mobile. Our Application Portfolio Assessments services help you do this.  2) Modernize. What is it you’re going to keep in the short term? We will help you decide what should not be changed where you need to change, what can be modernized by using more contemporary technologies, and also what can be retired out of the system elegantly and professionally, given the fact that within certain industry environments there are rules and regulations on how long you must maintain the application and the supporting data. Our Application Modernization Services help you do all this.  3) Manage. The next step is that we help ensure the quality and the continuity of the solution we delivered. We're putting a more operational spin on it that says, how is this application going to perform into the required service levels, and also we've got the cost down, so let's make sure we keep the costs down. So we look at things like quality. We're look at things like security. We look at the best delivery method: onshore, offshore, on-premise, off-premise or as a service. Our Application Management Services, help you not only today but into the future as well.
  21. Every single IT organization is facing a dilemma: the business is demanding ever faster and better business services while the data center is bogged down with outdated, siloed infrastructure, andlegacyapplications. Converged infrastructure is about solving this dilemma and making the data center flexible, agile, and scalable. Services can be added and subtracted as needed to truly match business objectives and strategies. To achieve that, HP offers solutions that are a set of integrated projects and initiatives. Based on your own unique business needs, you can start anywhere. Our approach: Converge -  To achieve growth in a tough economy, businesses & governments must move rapidly to seize new opportunities, reach new customers and citizens. This requires agility—and capital.  But just when IT should help enterprises move forward, it often keeps them mired in the past due to traditional rigid IT silos of servers, storage, and networking. HP helps break down IT silos and transform them into interoperable, shared pools of resources, with a common management platform. We help you virtualize infrastructure components to increase utilization and flexibility, making sure they are resilient enough to support mission-critical applications and increase business continuity. The end result will be open and standards-based, orchestrated across the lifecycle to increase agility, and built in a modular way to help you scale up for future growth.  Manage – Too much of IT operations resources are tied up in “keeping the lights on”. IT tasks are still too manual and costly; manual provisioning introduces too many errors; with baby boomers retiring, too much human capital is walking out the door and leaving IT with not enough subject matter experts in their own systems. With HP, we help bring visibility and control back to IT Operations through proactive management and automation. Our management and automation solutions help IT align with the business by focusing on the service-layer, not just at the infrastructure level. With HP’s management and automation capabilities, you can manage all your data centers remotely through seamless orchestration and streamline operational resources to deliver more value to the business.  Optimize - Rising cost of energy and physical space constraints are two of the biggest reasons that’s preventing IT from delivering new services at the pace demanded by businesses. HP helps customers tackle these challenges through a combination of energy efficient server and storage solutions, intelligent power and cooling software, and sustainability services across our entire portfolio. With Data Center Services, we conduct total assessments for energy efficiency and carbon footprint, design green-field data centers or retrofit existing facilities, upgrade and recycle outdated infrastructure components and create smarter, green data center environments that not only deliver cost savings, but also long-lasting assets that are future-proofed for growth.   HP is the only vendor offering the full suite of solutions needed to transform outdated application infrastructure models. The objective is to break the old cycle of spending over 70 percent just on maintenance and operations. HP can help you shift the ratio and start to innovate again.
  22. Every day the very connectedness you need to the outside world is a doorway to harm for your organization. It’s an open invitation to unknown entities looking to do damage. 23. HP Information Optimization solutions can help you harness the power of information to help your executives make better decisions to drive innovation. We can also help you protect information and deliver it in accordance with enterprise needs. Protecting data in motion and data at rest. Our approach: Capture: Optimizing the information within an enterprise begins by ensuring that you have captured all of your information. Although much of the information that an organization holds is electronic in format, enterprises also need to consider physical information sources including paper records. In addition, disbursed information sources such as SharePoint must be accounted for as well. Only HP Information Infrastructure Solutions can help with every element of information capture – from our industry leading converged infrastructure portfolio, to document digitization, as well as portals and collaboration services.  Govern: Of course, a solid information infrastructure must be well governed if it is to provide value to the organization. Only when backup and recovery, archiving, and records management concerns are address can an enterprise be assured that its data is safe, and the enterprise can address such issues as regulatory compliance and legal discovery. Our Information Governance solutions include HP Data Protector, HP TRIM records management, and HP Archiving software, provides a comprehensive governance solution. Our Integrated Archive Platform (IAP) provides scalable, long-term information retention with high-speed search and retrieval capabilities. And our Medical Archiving Solution (HP MAS) is a specialized grid computing appliance that delivers high availability and fast access to medical content.   Analyze: Finally, HP can help with the important task of analyzing information to gain real insight. Our Business Insight Solutions a suite of consulting services, including Information Strategy and Management, Data Integration and Management, Data Warehousing and Architecture, and Information Delivery and Analytics services. Our Finally – managing the “final mile” of information is very important. Studies have shown that the average company spends between 5 and 7 percent of it’s REVENUE (not profit—but revenue) on printing expenses. They further show that by actively managing these expenses, businesses can achieve savings of 30-40%. And that’s where HP Managed Print Services comes in. We apply our expertise to your print environment to reduce waste (paper, ink, and toner), increase efficiency, simplify management, and minimize printer downtime.
  24. A key success point of the Instant-On Enteprise is to selects the best delivery model for the solution—the delivery model that provides the right outcome, in the right time frame, at the right price. This enables faster time to innovation as well as an agile response to meet changing needs. Our solution portfolio covers all three delivery options and helps you pick the right one for you.Assess: The first step is to understand what your technology enabled service needs to deliver against the three delivery options. HP has workload analysis tools, assessment workshops, and experts to help you select the right delivery model for that service. We have a tested methodology to build the strategy & integration of these environments to help our clients evolve their service portfolio. Design: Once the assessment is complete and the service delivery model is selected, HP can then take the strategy created in the assessment phase, develop a business case for it and then design a logical roadmap for the evolution. This design phase must take in account the run time phase of the service to ensure that the service runs for maximum value, reduced risk and a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).Implement –The next step is to implement the solution. HP has a full suite of implementation services to cover all three delivery models: Traditional including internal built and deployment, outsourced and managed services, or a number of cloud delivery options that can be integrated into the IT operating environment.Manage - The next step is to ensure the quality and the continuity of the service being delivered. Service Management delivered as tools or as a service provides the critical monitoring and management of an IT hybrid service portfolio. Only HP has a full suite of managed services and software assets to help clients embrace hybrid environments, spanning on-premises, off-premises, physical and virtual environments. HP solutions enable IT teams to effectively manage the performance and availability of all applications in the same way, irrespective of where they are running. Now lets take a moment and double click down on cloud.
  25. We believe that using the cloud, as a way to deliver services, is one of the fundamental choices you can make in moving towards a more Instant-On Enterprise. It shifts the CIO from being just a provider of IT but also a broker of IT services which delivers a new level of agility to the enterprise as well as speeds time to solution. There are four areas to think about as you build your cloud adoption plans. What you do to: Consume, Build, Manage and Secure, and Transform. Let me first start with Consume. This means accessing services provided from an external cloud provider. This may range from a request by a software developer for access to a test environment to increasing capacity for peak processing for financials at month end.We believe that current offerings lack the security and performance guarantees that enterprises require. HP Enterprise Cloud Services – Compute is designed for specified levels of performance, up-time, security and privacy. This compute service makes bundles of server, storage, network, and security resources available to be consumed as a service. This solution provides a secure private cloud where your mission-critical work can run and rapidly flex when demand spikes. The service returns capacity when the volume subsides, and the model generally allows you to pay only for what you consume. As part of this offering, HP provides your IT professionals with access to a secured portal, providing full transparency into the availability, performance, and configuration of your cloud environment. With the power of HP behind you, you can rapidly adjust to changing enterprise needs.  Now, let’s move to Build. Sometimes the right answer is to build your own private cloud. HP CloudSystem is the most complete, integrated system to build, manage and consume services across private, public and hybrid cloud environments. It combines the strength of HP’s Converged Infrastructure with the established leadership of HP Cloud Service Automation software to deliver unified security, governance and compliance across applications, as well as physical and virtual infrastructure. This core building block, for both private and public clouds, helps to provide quality of service, security and compliance for all services powering the enterprise. HP CloudSystem also supports HP CloudMaps, an industry first that provides preconfigured catalog objects to automatically provision the optimized application and infrastructure resources. HP CloudSystem enables new cloud services to be up and running in minutes. Your success also depends on your ability to Manage and Secure a hybrid environment. Many of today’s solutions can only manage and monitor specific assets. Our Cloud Service Automation software can act as a core engine for heterogeneous private and public cloud environments. It provides one-touch provisioning and monitoring for cloud services delivered by both HP and non-HP cloud providers. The result? Enterprises can easily add and adopt new services and technologies to speed time to market and time to value. Finally, you need to Transform legacy IT operational models to adapt to this new service-centric, hybrid delivery model. Both applications and infrastructure services need to take on new, shared characteristics that can help drive efficiencies and opportunities. No one is better qualified than HP to help you move to a next-generation data center. HP has the services professionals to help you build cloud strategies for all facets of your enterprise. We offer professional services that help you transform your IT infrastructure and applications to take advantage of new delivery models. Our HP Cloud Discovery Workshop can be your first step in the journey to transforming part of your environment to be cloud-based.In addition, because we know government organizations have specialized requirements, we offer an HP Cloud Discovery Workshop that specifically addresses cloud adoption for the public sector.
  26. Lets start with the left of the slide. Today, the vast majority of information technology is configured along the lines of the traditional stack. It is complex with a dizzying array of proprietary relationships that need to be orchestrated – and nobody can deliver more value here than HP. This is a world that HP understands deeply and where we have significant leadership and will continue to drive that leadership.Because just as the forces of cloud and connectivity are changing the model for people’s relationship to information…beneath that is a changing model of technology architecture, delivery and consumption. On the right is the future of information technology, the cloud, offering less complexity and cost, and more flexibility, agility, scalability and performance. The strengths we’ve built and the investments we’ve made give us a huge advantage as we work to create the leading platform for cloud and connectivity. The opportunities in the cloud are extraordinary…and we’re positioned to lead with our portfolio…and to lead with our clients who need a trusted partner to help navigate the journey ahead. As we said before, different clients will make this journey at different speeds. We believe this is the future of infrastructure, information and applications. Not only will we help our customers transition to cloud through Hybrid architectures…but HP intends to build and run an HP cloud.
