USJFCOM’s  Joint Warfighting Center (JWFC)  in Suffolk coordinates the military’s overall joint training efforts. This command provides highly realistic training with a joint context, revises the content and execution of training through adoption of lessons learned and best practices, and develops advanced technologies in conjunction with operational exercises. The Center employs world-class expertise and state-of-the-art modeling and simulation tools to conduct training, exercises, analysis, and operational support for disaster management and homeland security situations.  Hampton Roads is the world headquarters for the  Navy Marine Corps Intranet  (NMCI) - a comprehensive initiative that gives the Navy and Marine standardized network operations services, security and user assistance across every level of command as well as linking The system links more than 700,000 active users (Only the internet is larger). The  Naval Network Warfare  Command  (NETWARCOM), located in  Hampton Roads, is the Navy’s  operational central authority for network and information technology requirement, network and information operations and space. The command coordinates and assesses the Navy operational requirements for and use of the Naval network, command and control, information technology, information operations and space. 
The Virginia Modeling, Analysis and Simulation Center ( VMASC ) was founded July 1, 1997 by Old Dominion University  (ODU)  and several regional partners to capitalize on the military simulation that occurs at the Joint Training, Analysis and Simulations Center ( JTASC ).
