Issue/Challenge: Conserving local Koala populations in the Hawkesbury and Blue
Mountains areas through research, education and community awareness.
RCE Educational Strategy and Response: Cross Sector collaboration by NSW Government
(Office of Environment and Heritage) with various key agencies including Science for
Wildlife and Brewongle Environmental Education Centre to deliver education to school
children and run a local ’Koala Festival’ to raise community awareness of the need for
protecting and reducing threats to local koala populations.
