This presentation is an overview of my role in the website redesign for Marineland Dolphin Adventure, Georgia Aquarium’s partner facility in Florida. Throughout this project, I served as the liaison between Marineland and Aquarium staff, as well as our digital agency, to ensure timely delivery of all content and maintain open communication about the progress of the website.
2. This presentation is an overview of my role in the website redesign for
Marineland Dolphin Adventure, Georgia Aquarium’s partner facility in
Florida.
As the Digital Production Coordinator for Georgia Aquarium, I led the
redesign by conducting an initial website audit, creating the sitemap,
gathering all content, editing copy and building the final pages within our
CMS.
Throughout this project, I served as the liaison between Marineland and
Aquarium staff, as well as our digital agency, to ensure timely delivery of all
content and maintain open communication about the progress of the
website.
3. Website was run through remote servers at Georgia Aquarium.
Ongoing technical issues with these servers caused limited
availability to publish updates and increased time requirements to
make changes.
Website was approximately 4 year’s old with outdated design,
layout and overall functionality, as well as inconsistent content and
low-res/outdated images.
To provide a permanent solution for these issues, we migrated the
Marineland website to Georgia Aquarium’s existing content
management system, Sitefinity.
4. Optimize website with modern layout, user-friendly navigation and
responsive design
Refresh site content and images to ensure relevant, updated
information for Marineland guests
Boost search engine rank with on-page SEO, page titles, meta
descriptions and document/image names
Increase online conversions by providing engaging user experience
and effective CTAs
5. Analyzed current
website navigation
structure, written
copy, documents and
graphics
Determined what
information would
be migrated, and
what information
we were missing
Reviewed existing
content and project
goals to create new
website hierarchy
6. Created sitemap to provide visual representation of sitemap as
well as page properties (titles, page descriptions, redirects, etc.)
Presented to VP/General Manager of Marineland, VP of Marketing
& Communications at Georgia Aquarium, Digital Marketing team,
and our digital advertising agency.
Sent sitemap to digital agency as a basis for website design and
page templates.
I used this sitemap presentation as an opportunity to define the
scope and timeline for the project, and ensure a clear consensus on
overall goals for the website.
7. Created questions sheets for each website segment (i.e. dolphin
encounters, education programs) and distributed to their
respective Marineland staff members
Wrote content and assigned pages to interns
Provided final edits for all web page copy to ensure accuracy,
brand voice and consistent information
Coordinated approval process by organizing all completed pages
in OneDrive for Marineland staff to review
8. Worked with digital agency to finalize and test
website design, page templates and functionality
Built and formatted all web pages with titles,
descriptions, copy and images
Ensured smooth website launch by coordinating
questions/concerns from Marineland staff and
digital agency
