In these slides I’ll share with you my thoughts on the most important work ethics based on real work-life situations of which it had a great impact to boost my career and others in a way much further.

3. On top of all comes the discipline as the most precious value not just in your
workplace but generally in your life. Being on time is a rare merit that will
distinguish you from anyone else and it’ll definitely pave your way to smoothly
work on your career plans.
I came across lots of intelligent people who have failed to move any further in
their career because lack of punctuality. This value is completely self-owned and
can be easily commanded if you have the will and enough understanding of its
important reflection in your daily life routine.
For example: If you're working on a task with a deadline, make sure that you have
been given enough time to deliver the needed results, and negotiate the time in
case the given duration is not adequate to finish the job. Another manifestation of
punctuality is to be early present at your workplace prior your shift time starts and
to do the same if you are invited to a meeting/conference call, whether it’s a team
level activity or one to one session regardless the superiority of the other
attendees.
3
4. Following the previous value, let’s not commit the mistake of limiting the discipline
definition to only being on time but rather to be mindful as well. Being on time doesn’t
have any useful value if you’re not ready to do your job or busy with something else.
I am talking about bringing your whole self to work, throwing away all the personal
burdens at your company’s doorstep so you can effectively perform in the right way
without any negative influences. Honestly this value is very tricky and almost
impossible to completely accomplish because we’re after all humans and cannot just
forget about our spouse, family or any other personal issues that easy.
Therefore during these days, when you carry any external burdens to your workplace,
you should follow few precautions such as: postpone any important meetings to
another time if possible, avoid making any fatal decisions that might impact other
people negatively, monitor your temper and have frequent breaks for quick snacks or
soft drinks, focus on your facial expressions and allow people surrounding you to know
that you’re passing through a difficult time hence you’re not at your best.

5. This was one of the major reasons behind not shining in my previous work
experiences despite of having lots of other good merits. Obviously I was not smart
enough in my communication that I only settled with limited relations with few
teammates and direct manager. I had no idea what the other teams in the same
department are doing or having any connections outside my job framework.
Accordingly it’s very important to build a positive rapport not just with your
surroundings but also widening your communication to a bigger scale to cover
other corners of your company. There is nothing shameful to add more people
from your work in your acquaintances circle as long as your intentions behind it
are clear and legitimate. Don’t be a fraud who just knows people to reach a
certain purpose because you would be very exposed in front of them. Hypocrites
are well-known by names in each department so please don’t be one of them.
5
6. For almost two years and half, after I approached my company as a job applicant, I
was determined toward my goals accepting no excuses for low self-performance
of any shape or form. I wanted to avoid the same mistakes that I made during my
previous work experience which had cost me a lot of time that, I don't regret but,
could have been utilized in a better way if I was equipped with a good plan.
Following the same techniques and expecting a different result is a complete
madness. Thus the conclusion here is to learn from your repeated mistakes and
never float with the mainstream otherwise you'll end up letting other people
determine your future plans on your behalf. Don't waste a minute in a place that
you dislike and instead find your purpose elsewhere because you can't afford the
regret, once you're old and retired, on the years spent at the wrong places.

7. Among other things, I used to receive compliments for being workaholic and details-
oriented from many levels of senior managers and team fellows. I was being classified
as a long-distance runner for having a continuous persistence till the last possible
chance to achieve my monthly operational goals. It has happened quite a lot in many
occasions to win the highest rank among my team just few minutes before close of
business in the last day of the month. Even my promotion as a team manager was part
of this magical coincidence since it was officially endorsed exactly in the last day of my
notice period as being shortlisted candidate for the position.
Expect endless challenges and learn how to overcome them such as: your manager
might not be excited enough about your career aspirations, or you think that you’re too
fresh to make a difference and compete with your teammates, or you might be very
disappointed that you've tried many times but was unlucky eventually to achieve any of
your career goals. The purpose here is to never lose faith in your goals for any reason
and always keep swimming against that tide of your mental delusion and never give a
space for your success spoilers to ruin your career.
7
8. Personally it always felt victorious to be the last minute guy since the last minute
win is a dead-shot and unrecoverable, as in soccer games, however it often gets
you more eyes of envy. Though I was very happy with the group I worked with for
affording a continuous challenging environment which, in addition to the few
people who were quietly unpleasant with my quick prominence, satisfied my inner
thirst to gain more strikes of success.
Be sincere and don’t forget those who added value in your career whether your
trainer, mentor, manager or maybe resourceful colleagues. People will always
cherish these moments when you appraise their efforts that contributed in your
success.

9. This value is a must have for those who are particularly willing to have a
managerial position. Speaking up is very important to allow others to build a
proper image about your principles and beliefs in their mind.
People tend to have some wrong perceptions about everything and everybody
and by only speaking up these wrong ideas will fade to what it really is in reality.
Don’t wait till others open a discussion so you can engage but rather have the
courage to positively raise your concerns and deliver your propositions directly
and remember that it’s always your sole responsibility to get your voice heard.
It is also important to be open and never be afraid of criticism because it’s very
healthy to have a dialogue rather than a one sided conversation. It means that
your voice has been heard and people are reflecting their understanding of what
you have said, so embrace the fact that other people in the room are entitled to
speak up their minds as well and just listen.
9
10. This one is my favorite of all other ethics and it somehow stuck with me since
childhood as my special mark.
You must have time to review your email correspondences whether it's external to
customers or internal to coworkers or superiors, and be a person who is well-known for
intact punctuation, grammar and proper professional sentences. Always remember that
possessing a strong business writing skills makes everyone excited once they see your
name in their inbox.
Furthermore, train your mind to quickly analyze everything you perceive and make your
own imaginary charts and numeric figures in your mind. This will help you to properly
understand the root cause of the situation and accordingly tackle it forward in a timely
manner.
There is a famous proverb says "The devil is in the details", hence to align yourself with
that saying, your job here is to unleash your own version of that devil!
10
11. This value has the dual benefits of helping you stay aware of your blind spots and
how people see your work attitude, as well breaking your self-ego knowing that
you're always in a need to hear a feedback no matter how skillful you are.
How it works! For an effective outcome, you should first seek and maintain a
regular feedback from the people who you have a frequent and direct contact
with such as: peers, direct manager.
Don't be defensive and openly embrace whatever you've been told, even if you're
not satisfied with the feedback, then start your deep analysis as mentioned in the
previous point.
11
12. One of the fastest ways to get promoted in any organization is being a multi-
tasking person and a key team player among your peers.
You should be flexible enough to play any part in the team, as what the queen
piece does in chess game, and share best practice to empower your colleagues to
be at their best.
Being an effective team player to that wide exposure means that you would be the
first in your manager's priority list to deputize the team in their absence and
accordingly extend your authority to further managerial ranges.
12
13. Now I am finished listing the top 10 must-have work ethics in any
work platform based on my personal experience but definitely you can
always add more points according to your perspective.
Thanks for reading.
