Daikin has a worldwide reputation based on over 80 years’ experience in the successful
manufacture of high quality air conditioning equipment for industrial, commercial and
residential use. Daikin’s unique position as a manufacturer of air conditioning equipment,
compressors and refrigerants has led to its close involvement in environmental issues.
For several years Daikin has had the intention to become a leader in the provision
of environmental friendly products. This challenge demands the eco design and
development of a wide range of products and an energy management system; which
involves energy conservation and reduction of waste.
DAIKIN
02
Throughout the last 50 years or so the basic building
blocks of life – air, water and the earth – have
been systematically subjected to increasing levels
of pollution with little regard to their potentially
devastating effects on future generations.
Recently however, concern has grown regarding
climate changes, acid rain, water and air pollution
and the constant degradation of Earth’s natural
resources. The very technology that created these
problems is now being harnessed to halt and
reverse them. Depletion of the ozone layer and
global warming have been highlighted and are now
being addressed. Government legislation prohibiting
the use of toxic substances and the generation of
pollutants has slowed down the destruction of the
environment.
Daikin Europe is proud to have been pro active in
this respect, closely following its Japanese parent in
implementing policies that have often pre-empted
official legislative codes and directives. As a result,
a culture of ‘environmental management’ has since
2001, played a key role in the company’s day to day
activities and development strategies.
Top management commitment is reflected in the
establishment of a number of action plans, which are
now strictly observed and implemented throughout
the Daikin Group.
A number of ‘We Care’ icons are highlighted in
green throughout the catalogue to indicate product
features that have an impact on reducing energy
consumption: Fan only, Night set mode, Econo
mode, Energy efficiency, Movement sensor and
Home leave operation.

The innovative Daikin Sky Air R-410A RZQ
Super Inverter, designed for use in shops,
restaurants and small offices, provides a
more comfortable environment and offers
substantial savings in energy consumption.
The RZQ Super Inverter enables Daikin to
offer a complete range (from 7.1 up to
24.1kW single and three phase versions) of
R-410A inverters from the smallest Split to
the largest VRV system.
The Super Inverter Range marks a major step
forward from the earlier R-407C system and
although it incorporates its predecessor’s
innovative features, it also possesses a
number of significant energy saving and
operating improvements of its own.
This system is supported by a full range of
Daikin indoor units, which may be used
as pairs or in twin, triple or double twin
combinations.

RZQ
Based around Daikin’s well proven reluctance DC compressor motor technology, the RZQ Super Inverter delivers
high energy efficiency particularly in the mid to low settings, minimising annual electricity consumption and overall
running costs. The system also offers improved EER up to 4.1 and COP up to 4.38.
The application of inverter control saves energy for two basic reasons:
It enables compressor speed
to vary according to the
cooling/heating load and
therefore consumes only the
power necessary to match
that load.
In partial load conditions
energy efficiency is higher.
›
›
Inverter technology used in the RZQ Super Inverter ensures the highest comfort levels. The automatic control
of room temperature makes that the actual sensed temperature in the room is at pre set level, ensuring it is
never too cool or too hot.
This is a major improvement over standard fixed speed models, which utilise continuous on/off switching of the
compressor, creating greater fluctuations in room temperatures.
Inverter technology offers improved levels
of comfort:
Less frequent start/stop cycles
Capacity is automatically throttled back when set
point is approached
Start-up time is reduced by 1/3
User comfort is further enhanced by the application
of predicted mean value (PMV) control. PMV control
addresses the phenomenon whereby a person can
feel hot in summer and cold in winter at exactly
the same room temperature. PMV control senses
outdoor temperature, as well as occupant and
radiated heat levels and then sets and maintains
room temperature at the most comfortable level.

A. Reluctance DC compressor
The 71 class is equipped with a swing compressor.
Friction and refrigerant leaks are suppressed and energy saving is
improved.
The 100-125-140-200-250 classes are equipped with a scroll compressor.
The motor in the compressor is transferred from the low pressure
side to the high pressure side. In this way superheat can be better
controlled, resulting in better performance.

A. Re-use of existing piping without cleaning*
A major installation advantage offered by the new system is its ability to connect to existing R-22 and
R-407C piping without the need for pre-cleaning the pipe. This is the result of Daikin’s use of ether based
compressor oils rather than the more commonly used moisture sensitive ester oils. Existing piping can be
re-used subsequent to a simple pump down operation.
Benefits:
Reduced installation time
Reduced installation cost
No filters needed
* For any further details, please refer to the installation manual
B. Longer piping length up to 100 m
The maximum length of the piping has been extended to 100 m, making installation easier for any
required layout.

C. Extended operating range
The ambient temperature operating range has been
extended to -15°C to 50°C in cooling and -20°C to
15.5°C in heating for RZQ71-140. RZQ200-250 units
have an operating range from -5°C to 46°C in cooling
and -15°C to 15°C in heating.
D. Hand grips
Fitted hand grips for easy transportation and installation.
E. Refrigerant recovery function (RZQ100,125,140,200,250C)
The refrigerant recovery function enables the expansion valve to be opened. In this way the refrigerant can
be drained from the piping system.
F. Anti corrosion treatment
Special anti corrosion treatment of the heat exchanger provides 5 to 6 times more resistance against acid
rain and salt corrosion. The provision of rust proof steel sheet on the underside of the unit gives additional
protection providing the quality standard adapted by Daikin.

RZQ
A. Low sound pressure
Reductions in outdoor unit sound pressure levels have been
achieved via:
- redesigned fan blades and inlet bell mouth
- a high efficiency aero spiral fan with backward curved
blade tips that reduce air turbulence and pressure loss
- the redesigned bell mouth air inlet fitted with guide vanes
at the intake that also reduces air turbulence around the blades
Using the latest technology, sound pressure levels down to
47dB(A) in cooling (7.1 kW) are achieved. The sound pressure
levels of RZQ models are therefore up to 3dB(A) lower than those
of standard fixed speed models.
B. Night quiet function: max. -5dB(A)
During night time, sound level of the outdoor unit can be reduced for
a certain period by limiting the maximum compressor frequency and
fan speed: starting time and ending time can be set.
The night quiet function can be enabled according to end-user
preferences via 2 different modes:
Mode 1: automatic mode
Set via the remote control. Time of maximum temperature is
memorized. The low operating mode will become active 8 hours*
after the peak temperature in daytime and operation will return to
normal after 10 hours of low noise operation*.
Mode 2: customized mode
Starting and ending times can be set by using an external timer control (optional adapter KRP58M51
+ field supplied timer switch required for RZQ71-140).

MEASURING CONDITIONS
The sound pressure level is measured via a microphone at a certain distance from the unit. It is a relative value, depending on the distance and acoustic
environment (for measuring conditions: please refer to the technical databooks).
The sound power level is an absolute value indicating the “power” which a sound source generates.
For more detailed information please consult our technical databooks.

Daikin air conditioners are energy efficient and economical.
Fan only
The air conditioner can be used as fan, blowing air without
cooling or heating.
Draught prevention
When starting to warm up or when the thermostat is off, the air discharge
direction is set horizontally and the fan to low speed, to prevent draught.
After warming up, air discharge and fan speed are set as desired.
Auto-restart
The unit restarts automatically at the original settings after power
failure.
Twin/triple/double twin application
2, 3 or 4 indoor units can be connected to only 1 outdoor unit even
if they have different capacities. All indoor units operate within the
same mode (cooling or heating) from one remote control.
Horizontal auto swing
Possibility to select automatic horizontal moving of the air discharge
louvre, for uniform air flow and temperature distribution.
Fan speed steps
Allows to select up to the given number of fan speed.
Daikin air conditioners offer a comprehensive range of features to enhance your comfort. In this catalogue,
main features are represented by following pictogrammes:
A number of ‘We Care’ icons are highlighted in green throughout the catalogue to indicate product features
that have an impact on reducing energy consumption:

  • 2. Daikin has a worldwide reputation based on over 80 years’ experience in the successful manufacture of high quality air conditioning equipment for industrial, commercial and residential use. Daikin’s unique position as a manufacturer of air conditioning equipment, compressors and refrigerants has led to its close involvement in environmental issues. For several years Daikin has had the intention to become a leader in the provision of environmental friendly products. This challenge demands the eco design and development of a wide range of products and an energy management system; which involves energy conservation and reduction of waste. DAIKIN 02
  • 3. Throughout the last 50 years or so the basic building blocks of life – air, water and the earth – have been systematically subjected to increasing levels of pollution with little regard to their potentially devastating effects on future generations. Recently however, concern has grown regarding climate changes, acid rain, water and air pollution and the constant degradation of Earth’s natural resources. The very technology that created these problems is now being harnessed to halt and reverse them. Depletion of the ozone layer and global warming have been highlighted and are now being addressed. Government legislation prohibiting the use of toxic substances and the generation of pollutants has slowed down the destruction of the environment. Daikin Europe is proud to have been pro active in this respect, closely following its Japanese parent in implementing policies that have often pre-empted official legislative codes and directives. As a result, a culture of ‘environmental management’ has since 2001, played a key role in the company’s day to day activities and development strategies. Top management commitment is reflected in the establishment of a number of action plans, which are now strictly observed and implemented throughout the Daikin Group. A number of ‘We Care’ icons are highlighted in green throughout the catalogue to indicate product features that have an impact on reducing energy consumption: Fan only, Night set mode, Econo mode, Energy efficiency, Movement sensor and Home leave operation. The RZQ Super Inverter enables Daikin to offer a complete range (from 7.1 up to 24.1kW single and three phase versions) of R-410A inverters from the smallest Split to the largest VRV system. The Super Inverter Range marks a major step forward from the earlier R-407C system and although it incorporates its predecessor’s innovative features, it also possesses a number of significant energy saving and operating improvements of its own. This system is supported by a full range of Daikin indoor units, which may be used as pairs or in twin, triple or double twin combinations. 04
  • 5. 4 3 2 1 0 RZQ Based around Daikin’s well proven reluctance DC compressor motor technology, the RZQ Super Inverter delivers high energy efficiency particularly in the mid to low settings, minimising annual electricity consumption and overall running costs. The system also offers improved EER up to 4.1 and COP up to 4.38. The application of inverter control saves energy for two basic reasons: It enables compressor speed to vary according to the cooling/heating load and therefore consumes only the power necessary to match that load. In partial load conditions energy efficiency is higher. › › Inverter technology used in the RZQ Super Inverter ensures the highest comfort levels. The automatic control of room temperature makes that the actual sensed temperature in the room is at pre set level, ensuring it is never too cool or too hot. This is a major improvement over standard fixed speed models, which utilise continuous on/off switching of the compressor, creating greater fluctuations in room temperatures. Inverter technology offers improved levels of comfort: Less frequent start/stop cycles Capacity is automatically throttled back when set point is approached Start-up time is reduced by 1/3 User comfort is further enhanced by the application of predicted mean value (PMV) control. PMV control addresses the phenomenon whereby a person can feel hot in summer and cold in winter at exactly the same room temperature. PMV control senses outdoor temperature, as well as occupant and radiated heat levels and then sets and maintains room temperature at the most comfortable level. › › › COP EER COP Non Inverter COP Super Inverter EER Non Inverter EER Super Inverter Outdoor unit kW Outdoor unit kW * Indoor units used for this comparison: FCQ-C * Outdoor units used for this comparison: non inverter: RQ-B, Super Inverter: RZQ-B Comparison between Super Inverter and Non Inverter: COP/EER 4 3 2 1 0 7.1 10.0 12.5 2.81 2.99 2.89 7.1 10.0 12.5 3.13 3.71 3.54 2.61 2.61 2.68 3.29 3.61 3.22 CREATING THE HIGHEST COMFORT LEVELS SAVING ENERGY CONSUMPTION Temperature remains stable Air conditioning without Inverter Air conditioning with Inverter Slow start 05

  • 8. RZQ A. Re-use of existing piping without cleaning* A major installation advantage offered by the new system is its ability to connect to existing R-22 and R-407C piping without the need for pre-cleaning the pipe. This is the result of Daikin’s use of ether based compressor oils rather than the more commonly used moisture sensitive ester oils. Existing piping can be re-used subsequent to a simple pump down operation. Benefits: Reduced installation time Reduced installation cost No filters needed * For any further details, please refer to the installation manual B. Longer piping length up to 100 m The maximum length of the piping has been extended to 100 m, making installation easier for any required layout. › › › Max. piping length: 50m (class 71), 75m (class 100,125,140) and 100m (class 200,250) Min. piping length: 5m (3m by field setting for class 71,100,125,140) H = 75m MAINTENANCE INSTALLATION AND 08

Low sound pressure Reductions in outdoor unit sound pressure levels have been achieved via: - redesigned fan blades and inlet bell mouth - a high efficiency aero spiral fan with backward curved blade tips that reduce air turbulence and pressure loss - the redesigned bell mouth air inlet fitted with guide vanes at the intake that also reduces air turbulence around the blades Using the latest technology, sound pressure levels down to 47dB(A) in cooling (7.1 kW) are achieved. The sound pressure levels of RZQ models are therefore up to 3dB(A) lower than those of standard fixed speed models. B. Night quiet function: max. -5dB(A) During night time, sound level of the outdoor unit can be reduced for a certain period by limiting the maximum compressor frequency and fan speed: starting time and ending time can be set. The night quiet function can be enabled according to end-user preferences via 2 different modes: Mode 1: automatic mode Set via the remote control. Time of maximum temperature is memorized. The low operating mode will become active 8 hours* after the peak temperature in daytime and operation will return to normal after 10 hours of low noise operation*. Mode 2: customized mode Starting and ending times can be set by using an external timer control (optional adapter KRP58M51 + field supplied timer switch required for RZQ71-140). * Notes: For factory settings: please refer to the service manual of these units or contact your local dealer. • 23. ‘We Care’ Icons Whisper quiet Daikin indoor units are whisper quiet. Also the outdoor units are guaranteed not to disturb the quiet of the neighbourhood. Self-diagnosis Simplifies maintenance by indicating system faults or operating anomalies. Double thermostat function Controls the temperature via a sensor on the air conditioner or via a sensor on the remote control. Ceiling soiling prevention A special function prevents air blowing out too long in horizontal position, to prevent ceiling stains. Timer Allows to preset the air conditioner to start/stop at a specified time. Air filter Removes airborne dust particles to ensure a steady supply of clean air. Drain pump kit Facilitates condensation draining from the indoor unit. Vertical auto swing Possibility to select automatic vertical moving of the air discharge louvre, for uniform air flow and temperature distribution. Infrared remote control Infrared remote control with LCD to start, stop and regulate the air conditioner from a distance. Wired remote control Wired remote control to start, stop and regulate the air conditioner from a distance. Centralised control Centralised control to start, stop and regulate several air conditioners from one central point. Auto cooling-heating changeover Automatically selects cooling or heating mode to achieve the set temperature (heat pump types only). Dry programme Allows humidity levels to be reduced without variations in room temperature. Energy efficiency Daikin air conditioners are energy efficient and economical. Fan only The air conditioner can be used as fan, blowing air without cooling or heating. Draught prevention When starting to warm up or when the thermostat is off, the air discharge direction is set horizontally and the fan to low speed, to prevent draught. After warming up, air discharge and fan speed are set as desired. Auto-restart The unit restarts automatically at the original settings after power failure. Twin/triple/double twin application 2, 3 or 4 indoor units can be connected to only 1 outdoor unit even if they have different capacities. All indoor units operate within the same mode (cooling or heating) from one remote control. Horizontal auto swing Possibility to select automatic horizontal moving of the air discharge louvre, for uniform air flow and temperature distribution. Fan speed steps Allows to select up to the given number of fan speed. Daikin air conditioners offer a comprehensive range of features to enhance your comfort. In this catalogue, main features are represented by following pictogrammes: A number of ‘We Care’ icons are highlighted in green throughout the catalogue to indicate product features that have an impact on reducing energy consumption: 23
