Generation y Born in 1980- 2000 ; 1977-1995 (but different in views), Popularised from a book entitled Millenials Rising: The Next Great Generation Slogan- “It‟s all about me” Characteristics- Celebrate diversity and challenge the status quo, Technology-Savvy - Digital natives, technology dependents, confident, social, celebrate diversity, collaborative, „Right now attitude‟, Multi- tasker, Ambitious, Stronger relationship with parents, Goal oriented  Generation z Born in 2000- present day ; 1995-present day, Preceeding millenial generationCharacteristics- Digital natives, Affected by current „Great Recession‟, Acquired ADD, speedy and shorter attention spans, Privacy as a core value, More ambitious and more worldly

  7. • The values of neighbourhood and respect towards the elderlytoday are fading away. • The assimilation of western culture has shaped the minds and thoughts of our younger generation leading to deterioration of moral SOCIAL values. As a result, moral issues which were regarded as taboo in those days are now regarded as a social norm in today’s generation. Baby dumping, and drug abuse are now becoming rampant. • Fashion has changed tremendously over the years. • What is regarded as peculiar or strange by the older generation might be regarded as a fashion in today’s younger generation. FASHION • Older generation might prefer music of slow tempo and soothing compared to the younger generation who would prefer blaring music with full of rhythm and energy. MUSIC
  8. Solution : 1. Reserve some family time 2. Make friendship with children 3. Avoid putting too much pressure on the children 4. Develop mutual understanding 5. Parents being up-to-date
  9. Despite many differences, both the young and the old generation have their own roles in complementing each other.  One side’s weaknesses are complemented by other side’s strength, & vice versa.  Roles of the old generation : educate the youngsters with Islamic teaching, be a good role model, and teach them history  Roles of young generation : respect the elderly, & help them by contributing your strength and energy.
