About the play ~ Final solution is three acts play written by Mahesh Dattani. ~ Final solution first performed at Guru Nanak Bhavan, Bangalore, on 10 July 1993. ~ Originally published in 2009. ~ The play was also translated into Hindi by Shahid Anwar. Characters - Daksha (Young) Ramnik Gandhi Hardika (Old) Bobby Smita Javed Aruna Chorus (Hindu/Muslim)

  7. 7. Diary ~ Diary is not always Trust-worthy. ~ What is written in diary is based on one's own personal perspective and experience. ~ Daksha write about her experience with her friend Zarine (Muslim Friend) and her family. ~ Ramanik's truth shatters Daksha's prejudice. (Now Hardika)
  8. 8. 2] Javed's Cap and Idol of lord karishna. Javed's cap - Symbol of Muslim identity. Idol of Lord krishna - Symbol of Hindu identity. Smita wear Javed's cap. Bobby (Muslim boy) took idol of Lord Krishna in his hand. They exchanging their identities symbolically and try to vanish differences between Hindu And Muslim community.
  9. 9. 3] Masks Two types of masks are used in the play, Hindu mask and Muslim mask by the chorus. By changing masks corus changing their identity from Hidus to Muslims and Muslims to Hindus. Masks represent communal identity in the play.
  10. 10. 4] Photo of Noor Jehan Daksha has a photo of Pakistani Singer Noor Jehan. She is considering Noor Jehan as her favourite singer. And I heard! (A Noor Jehan song can be heard) Faintly,from the window above the voice of Noor Jehan! The window was shut.
