  2. 2. Guildford Recreation Centre Service Sector: Public Community and recreation centers are under the public service center unless they are privately owned. This is due to the Municipal Governments encouragement of the development of recreation programs and facilities, and they also act as a catalyst for recreation development in the community (Ed Lunn, p.4). Recreation, PE, & Coaching: As Guildford Recreation Centre offers a plethora of services and activities, I have placed it under all three categories of recreation, physical education, and coaching. An example of recreation are the services provided by the gyms, pool, and workout room. Public swimming and drop-in sports are always running during the day at the facility. Guild Recreation Center also offers a ton of Physical Education programs for people wanting to learn how to swim and get in shape, these can be seen on their website (GRC p.1). And lastly, the Guildford Recreation Centre can be booked by teams to support practices, games or other activities, which allows me to place them under the coaching category as well. As, they are considered a public good, the Municipal Government is mandated to provide the community with it, and this comes in the form of a school. Physical Education: James Adriel Elementary provides students with a mandated Physical Education program teach children how to stay active and healthy while also providing fun activates for them. Physical education is extremely important for children as habits begin to form from a young age. Therefore, this public service provides the community with Physical Education.

Their services are provided for a cost and are profit oriented therefore placing them under commercial. Physical Education: This is an example of Physical Education because Iqra Islamic School provides its students with a PE Program, Intermural, and outdoor spaces for athletics. Which in turn allows students to setup habits of Physical Education for the rest of their lives. EXIT Surrey Hwy 10 Service Sector: Commercial EXIT Surrey provides a for-profit service for consumers, within the community, and for visiting tourists. They host “escape rooms” within their own facility and charge a fee for entering and participating within their rooms. Recreation: This is an example of recreation as, the “escape rooms” provided are for fun and consumer needs rather than essentials. There target audience are those looking for an escape room experience and they allow anyone with the available funds to participate. Figure shows the entrance to EXIT Surrey, Surrey BC. They are a for-profit and sell out arenas to consumers to watch them play. They cater to a global audience and their respective community. Coaching: This is an example of Coaching because the Vancouver Whitecaps rely on their coaches to allow their team to perform at the highest level possible. The use of coaches in a professional sport setting is essential as guidance from NCCP curriculum and ethics must be implemented into the professional sport industry. Surrey Minor Thunder Hockey Service Sector: Volunteer The Surrey Minor Hockey Association provides the community with a minor level of sport, they are non-profit and most of the participants of the association are volunteers, therefore placing them in the volunteer sector. Coaching: This is an example of coaching because the Surrey Minor Hockey association is a volunteer-based organization that askes for coaches to, lead hockey teams throughout a season. The Surrey Minor Hockey Association pays for NCCP coaching certification to allow for coaches to participate in provincial and regional tournament with their respective teams.
