Reason of Changing Pattern: Because Tier 1 being an elimination round in SSC CGL and large number of aspirants appearing in Tier 1. So, with the motive of conducting it fairly and speedily, Staff Selection Commission went with online exam mode and reduce the number of questions and maximum time to make the process of Tier 1 much faster. Remember that earlier it was the game of Accuracy & Speed, with increase in time limit in new pattern what matters most is Accuracy.

2. Reason of Changing Pattern
Because Tier 1 being an elimination round in SSC CGL and large number
of aspirants appearing in Tier 1. So, with the motive of conducting it
fairly and speedily, Staff Selection Commission went with online exam
mode and reduce the number of questions and maximum time to make
the process of Tier 1 much faster. Remember that earlier it was the game
of Accuracy & Speed, with increase in time limit in new pattern what
matters most is Accuracy.
Getting 75 minutes to solve 100 questions, 25 in each section is more
than sufficient for an aspirant who is preparing according to previous
pattern i.e. 200 questions in 120 minutes. However mode of examination
is changed from Pen & Paper to Computer Based. SO, you must change
your strategy to adopt yourself with this computer based exam mode.
3. Prerequisites Before Starting Preparation
As we already know that aspirants are preparing for CGL according to previous
pattern and there is no change in syllabus as well, so we assume that you are well
versed in all topics of all subjects.
Prerequisites Before Starting Preparation
• Get Study Material / Online Test Series
• Previous Year Papers & 10 to 15 Mock Tests for Practice
• and relevant Text Books
Online Test Series should be exactly according to SSC exam pattern including
comprehensive analysis of timing on each question and topics, feedback for weak
points. Practice atleast 10 Practice Test and 5 Real Time Mocks. After subscribing
for Online Test Series, take a practice set to get familiarize with Computer based
test. Continue…………
4. Prerequisites Before Starting Preparation
You have practice this on daily or alternate day basis if you not appeared online
tests before. After getting accustomed with online exam mode, take 2-3 online
exams in a week (1 Practice Test & 1 Sunday Mock) for first 4 weeks, then take
3-4 online exam in a week (2 Practice Test & 1 Sunday Mock) for last 4 weeks.
NOTE: Practice with only one rough sheet.
You need to solve atleast 8 previous years papers to get adapted to the level of
question paper. This will help you to be prepared for extreme variation in
difficulty level of different sets of Tier 1. Solve atleast 1 previous year paper
in week. If possible try to get the question paper of Online Exam of CPO.
Next is Offline Mock Test - To increase you speed of solving questions taking
offline mock test will act as a catalyst in your exam preparation. One offline
mock test is more that sufficient.
5. Effects of Pattern Change
Now, having good command in General Studies and English will be an
advantage for you. Aspirants having not so good speed in Maths & Reasoning
need not to worry now. This new pattern gives you extra time for these
sections. Only thing you need in this pattern is accuracy. However, if your
command in GS & English is not up to the mark and your 70% marks of your
total score (In Mocks) is from Maths & Reasoning, you might lose the race of
CGL exam.
