1. Art & Science and Coaching : A great opportunity for a sustainable
and dynamic evolution of our world
ICF ECC Paris 2010 – June 17th – 19th, 2010
The term of “coaching” is born in the 19th century, at the initiative of the Oxford University.
What if the “coaching” of the 21st century still needed be reinvented, in line with the big challenges of our
today’s society?
Thursday June 17th – 5 pm CET – Challenges of the future
To open the conference, Ervin Laszlo -Hungarian scientist and philosopher-, Philippe Gabilliet –French
Futurist- and the leader of a big multinational company will share their understanding of the essential stakes
which condition our future and the co-creation of a world where it would be good living together. From their
experiences, they will take us out beaten tracks, to open ourselves to other points of view and to dare to renew
our practices of coaching, in order to better answer the complexity of our society.
Ervin Laszlo, Hungarian, President of the Club of Budapest
Ervin Lazlo is Founder and President of the Club of Budapest – a worldwide think tank - and has twice been
nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. The members of the Club of Budapest frequently exchange views with
the likes of the Dalai Lama, film director Milos Forman, Jane Goodall, Mikhail Gorbachev, Bianca Jagger,
Zubin Mehta, Desmond Tutu and Elie Wiesel. A child prodigy, Ervin gave concerts from the age of nine.
Thanks to the Grand Prix of the International Music Competition of Geneva, he was able to cross the “iron
curtain”. He began his career as an international concert performer then, following several twists and turns of
his life as both a scientist and an intellectual, he served as President of the Club of Budapest, and head of the
General Evolution Research Group, which he founded. He is an advisor to the UNESCO Director General.
Laszlo is author, co-author and editor of 87 books published in 23 languages of which « The Connectivity
Hypothesis » and « Science and the Akashic Field »
Philippe Gabilliet, Prospectiviste français
Philippe Gabilliet works in the field of managerial futurology, leadership development and intercultural
management, with particular interest in the Far East. He is an Associate Professor with ESCP Europe in
Organisational Behaviour with responsibility, for the third year running, of the course entitled “Futurology,
anticipation & intelligence of the future”. He ensures the scientific focus of the diploma-awarding programme
“Lead & Motivate”. He is the author of ‘Know how to anticipate – Tools to master your future’.
The leader of a big multinational company: his/her name still needs to be confirmed once we get definitive
approval.

2. Friday June 18th – 9.00 a.m / 7.00 p.m. CET – When Art and Science meet.
Throughout this day, we suggest you let yourself be called, get fresh ideas and/or get touched by the talent
and the discoveries of international experts in various fields of Art and Science:
They will make us live exceptional and interactive moments: you might be knocked down or sometimes even
shocked, but you will remain involved in any case. From this double glance of Arts and the Sciences, we may
co-create new approaches, innovative ways of thinking, interacting and intervening with our clients: to
accompany their progress by leaning on new paradigms and landmarks.
The variety and complementarities of the speakers’ profiles remind us that a transverse and holistic vision is
necessary to build and sustainably develop, in connection with what surrounds us. It concerns as much the
people as the organizations.
We are finalizing all speakers’ contracts for this conference day, but can already announce the following ones:
Trinh Xuan Thuan (TXT), Vietnamese Astrophysician, professor in the USA
Born in Hanoï (Vietnam), Trinh Xuan Thuan pursued his astrophysical studies at the French high school in
Saigon, at the Polytechnic School in Lausanne and the biggest US universities where he obtained his PhD in
Astrophysics (Princeton University). As a specialist internationally recognized for his research in extragalactic
astronomy (beyond the Milky Way), he is the author of more than 230 articles on the formation and evolution
of galaxies, in particular of dwarf galaxies, and on the synthesis of light elements in the Big-bang. His articles
are widely referred to in the world. Professor of astronomy at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Xuan
Thuan divides his time between the United States and France, where he frequently cooperates with French
scientists.
David Whyte, Irish Poet
David Whyte, Irish poet, lecturer and outstanding speaker, will bring interesting insights into creative
processes that release energy and adaptability in the workplace. Awakening the dormant imagination of
individuals and organizations alike, with the courage of the metaphor and the use of poetic language to rally
around the vision, these are for him the key ingredients of “conversational leadership” which makes the
difference among today’s leaders.
Guillaume Caunegre, French Osteopath D.O.
Guillaume Caunègre D.O. is the founder of the Osteotherapeutics Institute in the USA. He is teaching and
practicing osteopathy since 1986 and is an expert in Life Education for Business with a one-to-one progressive
method for his top clients. He has developed a system of treatment and conditioning management for top sport
athletes. His fields of excellence are the intellectual performance, the emotional intelligence and the
management of stress. At the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society, he shares his expertise about
the decision-making power of the women worldwide and their adaptations to critical changes.
Denis Marquet, French philosopher, novelist and therapist
Alumnus of École Normale Supérieure (Paris) with a Doctorate in Philosophy, specialised in the analysis of the
psychological Jungian type (MBTI), Marquet is also facilitator of Socratic dialogues and co-development
groups. Blending contemporary therapy practise and Socratic Dialogue, he creates his own philosophical
practitioner’s method and has written many articles for Psychologies Magazine. His first novel, Colère (Anger)
is a recognized best-seller, translated into eight languages. Then he publishes ‘Père’ (Father), ‘La Planète des
Fous’ (The planet of the Madmen) and ‘Mortelle éternité’ (Mortal eternity). Marquet’s first essay ‘Elements of
angelic philosophy’ will be released in April, 2010.

3. Saturday June 19th – A new beginning for coaching

From the inspirations and experiences from the first two days of conference, we suggest you finding the
flexibility, willingness and especially the boldness to renew what became obsolete and cumbersome in our
practices:
- To co-create innovative answers to the stakes and challenges of the 1st evening
- To strengthen coaches' international community around the fundamentals of this profession in become.

How to achieve this?
We offer you to participate actively in an open space led by Isabella Klein and Andreas Terhoeven, German
and Austrian specialists of the facilitation of big groups.
What is an Open Space Technology meeting?
Open Space Technology is a meeting methodology involving from seven to more than thousand people, that
produces results, achieves maximum participation and "buy-in" during the meeting and later implementation,
unleashes unlimited creativity, and inspires people in finding the best solutions to their challenges.
"Open Space Technology" is the name given to a meeting without a predetermined agenda. Developed in the
late eighties by Harrison Owen of Maryland, U.S.A., this meeting methodology is now used around the world
as an effective process for facilitating change in large group settings.
