Better lives through livestock
2. What is CGSpace?
• Open digital repository of agricultural research outputs and
results produced by ILRI and (various CGIAR centers,
research programs and projects)
• Supports 7 CGIAR centres, 5 CRPs, the System
Management Office and Alliance of Bioversity International
and CIAT
• It is hosted by the International Livestock Research
Institute
3. Why organize our information products through CGSpace?
• CGSpace enables ILRI to:
- ensure CGIAR open access requirement are met
- make information easy to find using any search engine
- a primary location for institutional outputs!
- ‘index’ everything, wherever published
- each one of our research outputs get permanent identifier
- decentralize content management
- Content people embedded in each department in the
various regions help capture results (presentations, papers,
brochures, etc.)
- have a publishing and alerting platform
16. Agricultural Research e-Seeker: cgspace.cgiar.org/explorer
• Visualizes content
around different
metadata filters
• Visualizations and
reports based on
content from
different repositories
can be exported
• enhances content
discovery for users
18. https://maarifa.ilri.org/ilri-journals-list/
• Subscription to over 2,000 Elsevier online journals and
others though the CGIAR libraries and INASP
• You can activate ScienceDirect remote access to
journals/use VPN to access
• Open access, online and print journals
19. Quick tips to help you identify predatory journals:
• Journal title or publisher is unfamiliar
• Lures you in with a very good sounding offer
• Journal title sounds very respectable
• Article submission costs are not transparent
• Uses address in prominent city
• Editorial board claims prominent university affiliation
• Review system is unclear
• Journal title not present in Directory of Open Access Journals or
other indexes commonly used
20. About 620 ILRI staff work in Africa and Asia to enhance incomes and livelihoods, improve food security, and reduce disease
and environmental degradation. Australian animal scientist and Nobel Prize laureate Peter Doherty serves as ILRI’s patron.
Organizations that fund ILRI through their contributions to CGIAR make ILRI’s work possible. Organizations that partner ILRI in
its mission make livestock research for development a reality.

(No posting PDFs on corporate website!)
(For videos and audios we make a metadata-only accession
At ILRI, CGSpace is our way of publishing, archiving and disseminating our research outputs ….. So we publish once on CGSpae and re-use as many times as we want on other ILRI platforms such as the ILRI website, blogs, social media channels etc
