Reducing the impact of infectious disease on village poultry production in Ethiopia NE W Objectives (i) Investigation of the wider social and economic impact of infectious poultry diseases in rural Ethiopia (ii) Identification of the infectious diseases with the greatest burden; and (iii) Unraveling of the genetic factors controlling resistance - tolerance of local chicken ecotypes to infectious disease. Funded by: & The good news is … And the not so good news is … April 2010 …infectious diseases are a major limiting factor to the productivity of  village poultry  Or… we have not yet identified all the obstacles that will  …the project is funded and will begin in September this year occur! So far, all news is good news Christley R., Kaiser P., Dana N., Wigley P., Hanotte H., and Tadelle D.

  • 1. Reducing the impact of infectious disease on village poultry production in Ethiopia NE W Objectives (i) Investigation of the wider social and economic impact of infectious poultry diseases in rural Ethiopia (ii) Identification of the infectious diseases with the greatest burden; and (iii) Unraveling of the genetic factors controlling resistance - tolerance of local chicken ecotypes to infectious disease.
