and consulting, and the
desire to be in a fast-paced,
challenging environment.

How are you advancing
global healthcare?
At IMS Health, I am helping pharma find innovative
ways of working with payers and clinicians to improve
patient outcomes. Before IMS Health, I co-led the
Big Data Healthcare team at McKinsey and designed
a next-generation Health Information Exchange in
California. Hard to believe my journey started as a
surgical resident.
I took the road less traveled to
IMS Health. Now I lead overall
strategy for RWES in the US.

How are you advancing

I am a mathematician by training. At IMS Health, I find
myself at the intersection of data and analytics, applying
my work to real-life problems. My work spans across a
multitude of different therapy areas and project types.
I’ve also been a part of new and exciting research,
which makes me feel like I’ve found the best of both
worlds in terms of industry versus academia.

Our Solution
• Created an algorithm combining
fit-for-purpose data and machine
learning to accelerate the time
to diagnosis.
• Conducted proof of concept
study to test and optimize our
algorithm with real-world data.
• The proof-of-concept study
allowed our client to identify
the highest risk individuals
(patients 300 times more likely
to develop the rare disease).
Our Result
• A completely new way to
help physicians “see” patients
who are at risk for diseases
that are not on physicians’
immediate radar.
• Ultimately, hope for patients with
rare diseases to receive faster,
more accurate diagnoses.

Rare diseases are not so rare. 350 million
people in the world suffer from a rare
disease. Half of them are children.
Our client asked us to help find a way to
diagnose a rare disease earlier, given that
40% of current cases are discovered late.
