2. Question How can you make magnetic Art with iron filings and a magnet?
3. Prediction We thought that it would be very easy to make magnetic art with magnetic fields.
4. Our Plan Take 2 magnets and put it under the paper. Sprinkle the iron filings on the paper. You will see a shape of 2 magnets. Then, gently spread the rest of the iron filings around the shape with your fingers. Draw a picture or take a photo of the magnetic field. Pour the iron filings into a plastic plate and connect a series circuit with a battery, wires and switch. Move the plate around the circuit and see if you can make a magnetic field.
5. Results We were able to show magnetic fields with magnetism but not with electricity.
6. Conclusion We claim that magnetism can move iron filings and make a magnetic field. We can prove that by showing you now. Our result shows that you can make magnetic field using magnets. We found out that you can make the shape of a bar magnet. Next time we would change the shape of the magnets. We wonder if it’s possible to see the magnetic fields in a circuit.
7. Real World Uses We can use this in real life to make a magnetic field or to show what a magnetic field looks like.
