  2. 2. ETCP IP TIPS | Ericsson Internal | LMI-13:001688 Uen, Rev PA1 | 2013-06-05 | Page 2 ETCP IP professional Certifications 1. Provides a measure of your knowledge and skills in a particular area – Professional exams are complicated and hard to pass – Should go for an exam whenever you have approx. 60% of the knowledge from your work experience. – Don’t go for an exam if most of the exam scope is new for you – Exams are not ideal method: Failing does not mean you don’t know or are not valid, rather that the exam covers some new aspects for you which you need to study or work on 2. Forces to study, revise technical aspects 3. Helps to manage your competence development – Help your manager to assign you to more suitable projects 4. Helps to move onto your next role inside Ericsson (not yet known in the IT world)
  3. 3. ETCP IP TIPS | Ericsson Internal | LMI-13:001688 Uen, Rev PA1 | 2013-06-05 | Page 3 Common for all exams 1. Blueprint (Exam Topics. IMPORTANT!) 2. Training courses in Academy Space and ETCP page Training Resources (needed, but sometimes not enough: Not all the answers could be found in the Training resources). 3. Knowledge Assessments corresponding to each course (very easy). The tool doesn’t correct wrong answers 4. MyPractice Lab (nice for some hands on SE, SSR). There are practical courses with some theory 5. Sample questions (easier than actual exam, but give some ideas) 6. Study. It is easy to fail even if you know the topics by your daily work. Time is needed. Approx. one dedicated week.
  4. 4. ETCP IP TIPS | Ericsson Internal | LMI-13:001688 Uen, Rev PA1 | 2013-06-05 | Page 4 Common for all exams 7. 60 – 70 questions. 90 minutes. Question numbering and timing shown on screen.  1min 45 sec per question. 8. One question is shown at a time. You must answer it in order to go to next one. After you click “next” button for next question, it is not possible to go back. 9. Question types: Choose one (4 options) - Choose two (4 options) - Choose three (5 options). All have same value. Only right answers count. Blank or wrong are the same. 10. ETCP testing centers: ECD vs. External Prometric Testing center. – Availability: Prometric more flexible in dates. – Comfort: ECD. Proctor are Ericsson employees. Exam at office. 11. This is not official information! Just our experience. Please refer to ETCP page

Take 1st time as a test to know requirements, type of questions and areas to review › Profile: – Experienced/Senior Service Engineer within IP Competence Domain › Material: – Training resources are very good, useful and mandatory – Not cover fully all exam scope. Examples: › Routing: RIP, BGP route reflectors and confederations › Bridging: STP, RSTP, bvi › Resiliency: BFD, VRRP – Other training resources: › SEOS documentation in Alex › SJ Nerd lunches recordings › “Google”
