CTS 217: Firefox Add-Ons By: Ivy Marie Lindsey Date 4/11/2013 Page 1 of 7
This session will explore Firefox tools that can be valuable to a computer technician. Firefox provides many useful
shortcuts for anyone who is pressed for time and would like to consolidate their tools into one location. Screenshots, anti-
virus protection, a handy price guide for computer parts, ad-blocking, a PDF creator, and a server locator will be discussed
during this lesson. There are hundreds of available options that have been created by developers all over the world, as well
as skilled independent individuals. Some can be used as extensions to your browser, and others are add-on themes to
decorate your space. Feel free to play around, and personalize your Firefox after class. Be mindful, however, of the ones
labeled “Experimental” as they have not been reviewed by Mozilla editors, and may be used at your own risk.
Goal: To provide computer technicians with helpful tools that can be integrated within the Firefox browser.
Audience: Designed for computer users who use the Mozilla Firefox browser.
Prerequisites: Trainees should be familiar with the Firefox browser.
Objectives: At the end of training, participants will be able to do the following:
 Locate the Add-Ons page
 Search for a suitable Add-On
 Check for more information, and view ratings for the Add-On
 Download, and install an Add-On
 Utilize the benefits of the Add-On
 Update the Add-On
Primary Performance Measure: Trainees should be able to demonstrate how to download, install, and use their choice
of Add-On.
Required Materials: Firefox 14.0.1 or later
