LIFE
YOUniversity
Fort Belvoir Army Community Service is moving forward with the promotion
and orchestration of its new ACS initiative called “GOT BALANCE?”. This is in
line with the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Commander’s policy
for Soldiers, Department of Defense (DoD) Civilians, and all Family members
which is: ACHIEVE BALANCE; ARMY STRONG!
The Fort Belvoir Army Community Service calendar of classes and events for
the remainder of 2014 can be viewed on the Fort Belvoir Army Community
Service Facebook page or at the Fort Belvoir ACS.
The initiative is comprised of a series of classes and events geared towards
DoD Civilians and Army Family members to help them learn better ways to
balance themselves and be strong when faced with the unique challenges of
the military life. There are six (6) components to building resilience and en-
hancing performance:
(1) Self-awareness
(2) Self-regulation
(3) Optimism
(4) Mental agility
(5) Strengths of character
(6) Connection
The classes break this down into fourteen (14) skills taught in a fun and inter-
active manner. There will be a “Lunch and Learn” class conducted every 3rd
Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Fort Belvoir Army Community Ser-
vice which will include free lunch. There will also be another class held each
month during the evening or weekend for those who are working in the day-
time. Our big events are a Fun Family Volksmarch in October and a Holiday
Celebration in December to recognize the “Got Balance?” participants from all
of 2014 classes.
We encourage you to take advantage of this initiative. Everyone can benefit
from these skills whether they are learning them for the first time or polishing
skills already learned. Please call to reserve your spot or obtain more informa-
tion at 703-805-4590.

This is in line with the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Commander’s policy for Soldiers, Department of Defense (DoD) Civilians, and all Family members which is: ACHIEVE BALANCE; ARMY STRONG! The Fort Belvoir Army Community Service calendar of classes and events for the remainder of 2014 can be viewed on the Fort Belvoir Army Community Service Facebook page or at the Fort Belvoir ACS. The initiative is comprised of a series of classes and events geared towards DoD Civilians and Army Family members to help them learn better ways to balance themselves and be strong when faced with the unique challenges of the military life. There are six (6) components to building resilience and en- hancing performance: (1) Self-awareness (2) Self-regulation (3) Optimism (4) Mental agility (5) Strengths of character (6) Connection The classes break this down into fourteen (14) skills taught in a fun and inter- active manner. There will be a “Lunch and Learn” class conducted every 3rd Monday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Fort Belvoir Army Community Ser- vice which will include free lunch. There will also be another class held each month during the evening or weekend for those who are working in the day- time. Our big events are a Fun Family Volksmarch in October and a Holiday Celebration in December to recognize the “Got Balance?” participants from all of 2014 classes. We encourage you to take advantage of this initiative. Everyone can benefit from these skills whether they are learning them for the first time or polishing skills already learned. Please call to reserve your spot or obtain more informa- tion at 703-805-4590.
