1. CARNIVAL
Carnival is one of the most popular festivals in the world. It means
freedom and pleasure, since its origin in Greece until present day. In Brazil, it is
celebrated three days before Ash Wednesday. But in some cities, such as Recife,
the party can last a whole month. There are many styles to play the carnival, for
example, blocks of streets, party club and parades of samba’s schools. Samba is
present in all. It is a rhythm from the drumming of African descent, whose dance
sensual and cheerful. In my opinion, the best of the party is to be in the middle
of a street block, dancing shamelessly to be happy
2. CHRISTMAS
For me, Christmas is the most interesting holiday in Brazil,
because the families are getting together. It is celebrated on December
25th. Many people often travel to their home towns to visit relatives.
On the eve of Christmas night, they use to exchange gifts, drink wine,
champagne and savor a delicious roast turkey. I love giving and
receiving gifts. Usually, people play the secret Santa and no one goes
away without a souvenir.
3. RECIFE AND OLINDA CARNIVAL
I can to describe my style carnival with just four words:
sun, sea, hills and nightclub. When I get to plan more days off
after Ash Wednesday, I use to travel to Recife and play in
street block called Galo da Madrugada. There, I get together
at my friends in a beach house in Olinda. Then we climb its
hills and follow the blocks of streets and maracatu bands.
4. • There is a meeting of all the blocks on top of the hill,
exactly in the cathedral square. Each band is positioned
in front of a restaurant where we savor seafood and
celebrate the traditional Farra blocks. In the late
afternoon, we down to a last dip in the sea, because
the night we have lots of fun in the nightclubs of
Recife.
