Working Title: The Stranger
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose: I want my film to be horror because I want to show the hearing people
about how Deaf people can be good at acting. My horror film very entertaining to make an
audience interested in watching my film. I know that most teenagers love to watch horror
movies. I will make my film based on the answers they gave in the feedback. I sent my
focus group with my 10 questions about what they would like to watch in my film; who is
the murderer, how did they die, how long my film should be and any other features that
they think I should include. However, I was happy because my audience were happy and
satisfied with my film because I had everything in there that my audience wanted.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre: Horror Short Film
What sort of product is it
Content:
Location: Outside at the park, bridge and field.
Characters: One boy and three girls, teenagers.
What happened: The stranger contacts one of Jason’s friends. The Stranger is stalking
Jason and his friends. The Stranger kills two girls and one girl is injured. But at the end,
Jason finally kills the stranger by accident. He pushes him and he is stabbed from a
wooden branch in the woods.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Research & Planning: I researched some horror movies. I found the film called Halloween,
which matches my film because that film influenced me to have the idea about a stalker and
deaths. I used a setting of death, murder and stalker. In my final production I will use a
mystery character, blood, knife, characters and rooms. I researched the other films called
Halloween, Scream, The Silence of the Lambs and Cape Fear. All the movies that I looking
at had stalkers, murder and horror as their central themes. I gave my focus group and
intended audience a questionnaire of 10 questions, asking what they wanted in a horror
film. Some of my focus group didn’t want to watch my film because they hate scary movies
but some of my audience love to watch horror films, these people became my target
audience. I watched the four horror movies I mentioned earlier, and their trailers, which
influenced me because all the movies helped me to create new ideas and write my own film
with some of my own creative changes.
Where will you use elements of your research and planning to influence and inform your final idea
(be specific to certain parts)
Audience: I think people who are interested in the Horror genre will be persuaded to watch
my film. My film’s target audience age range is 16-24 year old males and females, from all
socio-economic backgrounds. My film will appeal to people who are socially conscious,
and they will learn that they must lock their doors and not answer the phone to strangers.
My film would be enjoyed in my classroom is B and C2 because my film is a horror movie.
My audience would love my film because it fits in the Belonger category. My film is filmed
on location because my story was is about a murder outside in a park, bridge and field. My
audience will be interested because all my characters are deaf and sign in my film but I
have included subtitles for hearing people.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?

Legal & Ethical Considerations: My film will include some swearing because all teenagers
normally do it. My film does not include any religious imagery of beliefs. My film’s viewers
must be 16 to 24 years. I used my characters in my film to show what happens when they
have a stalker and what happens when they meet a stranger, it is a cautionary tale. I did not
copy from other movies because of copyright and plagiarism. My film features Deaf actors
using sign language and this makes it different to most other horror films. I will need to
follow the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) regulations.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
