Presentation from a workshop delivered jointly with David Bottomley from QAA Scotland, at a sparqs Conference held in 2006, on the effective engagement of students at the Faculty or College level of institutions.

• Students will
– identify with the system of representation
– recognise the worth of student involvement
• Faculty representatives will
– understand their role
– attend, participate and shift the focus of discussion
– be able to identify that they are part of a larger system
– feel that their contributions are recognised and
worthwhile
– be well supported and properly recognised
3. Indicators of success
• Members of faculty-level committees will:
– identify worth in having student participation
– Have an enhanced understanding of student issues
• Institutions will:
– be able to identify that student involvement is working
– find it easier to engage students at the faculty level
