Different devices
There are about 11 common file types used
everyday. These file formats include
JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF; Word files, Excel, text,
HTML, PPT, EPUB and PDF.
They are all commonly used in the office, school and
at home and serve a different purpose for each type.
Each will provide a feature that can fit certain
requirement.

DOC FILES
Word files are in the file
extension DOC or DOCX.
It can be opened and
edited using word

numbers. Excel was made

resolution.

image file format but
unlike JPEG, it supports

editing. PNG also supports

“Bitmap” or as we know it
as BMP derives from

means a map of bits and it
is sometimes known as
DIB or Device
Independent Bitmap file
format.
It is independent of the
display device and it is
known for its great quality
per pixel which is suitable
for printing. While it is known
as the best image file
format, it is also large in file
size.

Tag Image File Format,
also known as TIFF or
TIF. It contains raster
graphics images that are
often used by graphic
artists.
It is also popular among
photographers, publishers
and printers. Originally, it
was created for the purpose
of saving scanned images

found to be useful for print
