Aug 2006- April 2012 Volker Matrix (Matrix Power) Position: High Voltage Commissioning Engineer Duties: Testing and Commissioning Commissioning and testing of various projects throughout the UK. Including Transformers, most types of H.V. /L.V. Switchgear, protection and control systems. Ranging from 415v through to 11,000v. Commissioning and pre-commissioning of 3.3kV /6.6kV boards, all motor drives and UPS systems. Responsibilities include: Consultation with clients over test and installation requirements, ensuring that systems conform with operational and safety constraints.
  2. Terminal five Heathrow (Schneider Electric) – Commissioning of numerous package substations and Transformers for two years on the site. Milford Haven LNG (Watson Norie) – Pre-Commissioning of 11,000V substations and transformers. Gained essential experience to perform tasks in a safe and competent manner on a petrochemical site. Ensus Teesside (Carrillion) – Commissioning of the 11,000v radial system, 415V package substations including testing various size, types of cables, Transformers and AC/DC motors. Faraday Center Middlesbrough – Headed High voltage pressure testing/spiking courses on cables and flash testing of busbars and H.V. switchgear. DLR 6 Olympics (Skanska) – Acting as A.P responsible for issuing HV permits, limitation of access permits. De-commissioning 11,000V substations and upgrading various other 11,000V substations. Familiar with most makes and types of protection relays including microprocessor based types Multilin Sepam, Micom and electromechanical. Equipment conversant with:- Switchgear - English Electric, Reyrolle, Hawk Vac, Brush VSI, Baldwin and Francis, S & I, GEC, Schneider, Wallacetown and various types of Yorkshire switchgear. April 2012-Present Sahaviriya Steel Teesside Position: Senior High Voltage Electrical Engineer Duties: Ensuring the successful implementation of the electrical maintenance strategy and providing detailed engineering expertise in high voltage distribution systems and power generation; policies and safety practices in order to meet the business Safety and financial requirements. My current position involves daily switching duties from 415 volts up to 66,000 volts to allow me to issue the relevant safety documentation (PTW, CPTW, SFT and LOA including risk assessments and method statements). As a Senior Engineer my responsibilities also include planned preventative maintenance, corrective/breakdown maintenance, installation and commissioning, fault finding on a wide range of electrical equipment across the site. Managing eleven electrical crafts people on a daily basis, my role requires me to issue jobs from SAP to each individual after ensuring all equipment is safe to work on, briefing them on their daily work plan including toolbox talks, timekeeping and holidays. Responsible for the works call out phone to respond to emergency breakdowns.
