Obesity now costs the global economy US$2
trillion (~RM6.7 trillion) in healthcare and lost
productivity. A study warned almost half of
the world’s adult population will be
overweight or obese by 2030 and called for
a “coordinated response“ from governments,
retailers and food and drink manufacturers
(McKinsey Global Institution).
Malaysia is the most obese
country in SEA & the 6th
largest in Asia-Pacific (45%
women & 50% men obese)
and 2.6 million adults with
diabetes!!

creates opportunities for the health, fitness and wellness landscape

1. Educate people that Exercise is Medicine and
introduce Movement as Therapy.
2. Create vibrant content & live event experiences
to make movement fun!
3. Advocate movement in any form! Walk, dance,
run, hike, go window shopping even - just
move!
4. Share the #move8 fitness movement in a fun &
engaging way, city-by-city, country-to-country.

Key Performance
Indicators (KPIs) by 2019
1. Create opportunities for residents, NGOs & govt agencies to participate in shared
decision-making.
2. Work with 100 Key Business Partners in every city to create community spaces
for social engagement, particularly spaces that target youth, middle-aged and
senior citizens.
3. Develop wellness programs that get neighbours to interact in community
spaces.
4. Create fun activities in outdoor spaces to mitigate obesity.
5. Create wellness education programs to build awareness.
6. Showcase job placement opportunities in fitness and wellness.
7. Get 2 million Malaysians moving towards healthier lifestyles.
