Search is King
Anyone who uses the internet uses a search engine to find information. And
Google has the highest share of search engine users at roughly 65%. (Bing ~
20% and Yahoo ~ 15%).
You Need First Page Placement On Search Engines (particularly Google).
Search is king but more importantly it is kingmaker as well. High visibility in
search engines means more website traffic, more leads, more customers, more
referrals and more profit for your business.

The tree services industry has become a super competitive marketplace in the
last few years and there are more popping up every day.
First place placement on search engines is the difference between being an
unknown company or being Top Dog.
Rank Matters
After a consumer enters a keyword into Google, they’re presented with pages
and pages of results. Most (about 97%) of consumers will never click beyond
the first page of Google results. Then, consumers tend to focus only on the top
3-5 results. It’s not enough anymore to even rank in Google, you have to be
one of the top three to even be relevant.
You know the joke: Where is the best place to hide a body? On the second page of Google.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Out there for everyone to see about your business is the good, the bad and the
ugly.
Getting found on search engines is a double-edged blade, both good and bad.
Customers who provided reviews for your business are visible. But what if
some of your review are negative? What if they’re downright bad. Bad reviews
will haunt your business for years and having a crushing negative impact on
your profits. Good reviews on the other hand can generate referral traffic and
provide social proof of jobs well done.

You’ve heard the hype about social media and unfortunately there is a
reason for that. Social platforms have been an absolute game changer
for businesses, like it or not.
The Rise
The rise of social media is amazing. Facebook grew from a Harvard dor-
mitory to an internet force with over 1,000,000,000 global users…in less
than 10 years. Facebook seems like old news now - a presence in our
lives that we take for granted - but it’s worth noting how recently this shift
has taken place.
Not Just For Kids
A common misconception that businesses have is that Facebook and other
social media outlets are just for kids and teenagers, thus their target market
is not represented on the site. But the opposite is true. Social media users
range through all ages and fastest rising age group using social media are
people over 35. That means a lot for you because that age group typically
owns property and have the larger income.

High Engagement
People aren’t just using social networks, they’re practically living on them.
The average Facebook user spends close to 8 hours a month on the site.
That’s about 15 minutes every day! That’s not including the other big social
media outlets like Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat.
This means one thing: Your customers are on Social Media and they’re
spending a lot of time on there.
They’re sharing, tweeting, liking, pinning, friending, starring, following, fan-
ning, posting, hash tagging, uploading, retweeting … you name it.
If you want to capture their attention, reach out to them or pitch them your
services you’ll have to meet them there before the competition does.

Sharing Their Experiences and Frustrations
Consumers nowadays take to the web and share their experiences with
brands. What they share with friends, family and associates isn’t always
flattering. People are use social media to vent out bad experiences and
problems like customer service issues. And it’s not just Facebook, it’s
happening on other sites like Yelp, Google +, Twitter and Angies List.
If your business doesn’t realize these online reviews are happening,
you’re in trouble. Though you can’t control what people say about you
or your business online, you should monitor, manage and contribute to
the conversations to influence the outcome.
As a tree service business owner, you must realize that having an active
online presence, focused on adding value to the customer, is the best
way to preserve and expand your company’s reputation and brand. You
must protect yourself from the ramblings of a few unhappy customers
by monitoring and engaging these people through social media.

The Buyer Expectation
Being relevant, staying relevant and giving timely updated information
to your buyers is another reason you have to be on social media. Your
buyers and potential customers expect it, and if you fall short of their
expectations, they will spend their money somewhere else. For exam-
ple: Imagine severe thunderstorms just passed through your area, you
post on social media that your company is ready to clean up any storm
damage, property damage or fallen trees. This post will reach your cus-
tomers or potential customers in real-time at a relevant moment.

3. MOBILE
Everywhere you go, everywhere you look, you see someone with his or her
face buried in their phone - surfing the web, checking social media, reading
emails, watching videos, playing games and the list goes on. This trend is
not slowing down. In fact, it will only increase as the technology gets better.
The mobile computing revolution is one you cannot underestimate.
Today, 325 million Americans have mobile phones and believe it or not
some have more than one. When did these devices became a “can’t live
without” essential?
If you’re a little younger and grew up with these devices then you really
can’t appreciate all the things they’re capable of nowadays, you take it for
granted.
Your cell phone has more computer power than NASA did in 1969 when it
placed two men on the moon. It’s hard to believe. A square device that fits
in your hand has a greater computational capacity then an entire govern-
ment agency did guiding a spacecraft’s around the earth 46 years ago.
Do not underestimate the power of this. There are 5 billion people in the
world carrying this device around in their pockets. It takes someone longer
to report a stolen wallet (26 hours) then it does a lost cell phone (68 min-
utes).

The Revolution Is Mobile
The future of the web is tied to smart phones and other mobile devices.
People will visit your website from a small-screened device more and more
instead of a desktop or laptop. What does that mean to you, the tree ser-
vice business owner?
It means: if you want to dominate your region and grow, you’ll need a web-
site that supports a multitude of platforms, specifically the smart phone.

a new must-have. Particularly when you consider that people with smart phones
are still turning to search engines to look for information.

People who use their cell phones to research products and services are more
likely to take immediate action and buy from their cell phones. Meaning that,
if you have a contact us, book now, purchase now or call us call-to-action, a
consumer will take action.

  • 4. 93% of consumers use search engines (Google, Bing, Yahoo) to find out infor- mation about a business. 97% percent of consumers search for local businesses online with Google. This means two things for your business. Search is King Anyone who uses the internet uses a search engine to find information. And Google has the highest share of search engine users at roughly 65%. (Bing ~ 20% and Yahoo ~ 15%). You Need First Page Placement On Search Engines (particularly Google). Search is king but more importantly it is kingmaker as well. High visibility in search engines means more website traffic, more leads, more customers, more referrals and more profit for your business. 1. Search Engines 3
  • 5. The tree services industry has become a super competitive marketplace in the last few years and there are more popping up every day. First place placement on search engines is the difference between being an unknown company or being Top Dog. Rank Matters After a consumer enters a keyword into Google, they’re presented with pages and pages of results. Most (about 97%) of consumers will never click beyond the first page of Google results. Then, consumers tend to focus only on the top 3-5 results. It’s not enough anymore to even rank in Google, you have to be one of the top three to even be relevant. You know the joke: Where is the best place to hide a body? On the second page of Google. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Out there for everyone to see about your business is the good, the bad and the ugly. Getting found on search engines is a double-edged blade, both good and bad. Customers who provided reviews for your business are visible. But what if some of your review are negative? What if they’re downright bad. Bad reviews will haunt your business for years and having a crushing negative impact on your profits. Good reviews on the other hand can generate referral traffic and provide social proof of jobs well done. 4

The Rise The rise of social media is amazing. Facebook grew from a Harvard dor- mitory to an internet force with over 1,000,000,000 global users…in less than 10 years. Facebook seems like old news now - a presence in our lives that we take for granted - but it’s worth noting how recently this shift has taken place. Not Just For Kids A common misconception that businesses have is that Facebook and other social media outlets are just for kids and teenagers, thus their target market is not represented on the site. But the opposite is true. Social media users range through all ages and fastest rising age group using social media are people over 35. That’s about 15 minutes every day! That’s not including the other big social media outlets like Twitter, Linked In, Instagram, Pinterest and Snapchat. This means one thing: Your customers are on Social Media and they’re spending a lot of time on there. They’re sharing, tweeting, liking, pinning, friending, starring, following, fan- ning, posting, hash tagging, uploading, retweeting … you name it. If you want to capture their attention, reach out to them or pitch them your services you’ll have to meet them there before the competition does. 6
  • 8. Sharing Their Experiences and Frustrations Consumers nowadays take to the web and share their experiences with brands. What they share with friends, family and associates isn’t always flattering. People are use social media to vent out bad experiences and problems like customer service issues. And it’s not just Facebook, it’s happening on other sites like Yelp, Google +, Twitter and Angies List. If your business doesn’t realize these online reviews are happening, you’re in trouble. Though you can’t control what people say about you or your business online, you should monitor, manage and contribute to the conversations to influence the outcome. As a tree service business owner, you must realize that having an active online presence, focused on adding value to the customer, is the best way to preserve and expand your company’s reputation and brand. You must protect yourself from the ramblings of a few unhappy customers by monitoring and engaging these people through social media. 7

Your buyers and potential customers expect it, and if you fall short of their expectations, they will spend their money somewhere else. For exam- ple: Imagine severe thunderstorms just passed through your area, you post on social media that your company is ready to clean up any storm damage, property damage or fallen trees. This post will reach your cus- tomers or potential customers in real-time at a relevant moment. Join the conversation or your competitors will.

MOBILE Everywhere you go, everywhere you look, you see someone with his or her face buried in their phone - surfing the web, checking social media, reading emails, watching videos, playing games and the list goes on. This trend is not slowing down. In fact, it will only increase as the technology gets better. The mobile computing revolution is one you cannot underestimate. Today, 325 million Americans have mobile phones and believe it or not some have more than one. When did these devices became a “can’t live without” essential?
  • 11. If you’re a little younger and grew up with these devices then you really can’t appreciate all the things they’re capable of nowadays, you take it for granted. Your cell phone has more computer power than NASA did in 1969 when it placed two men on the moon. It’s hard to believe. A square device that fits in your hand has a greater computational capacity then an entire govern- ment agency did guiding a spacecraft’s around the earth 46 years ago. Do not underestimate the power of this. There are 5 billion people in the world carrying this device around in their pockets. It takes someone longer to report a stolen wallet (26 hours) then it does a lost cell phone (68 min- utes). 10 The Revolution Is Mobile The future of the web is tied to smart phones and other mobile devices. People will visit your website from a small-screened device more and more instead of a desktop or laptop. What does that mean to you, the tree ser- vice business owner? It means: if you want to dominate your region and grow, you’ll need a web- site that supports a multitude of platforms, specifically the smart phone.

Millions of homeowners are concerned about their mortgage pay- ments and whether owning a home is actually worth it. Credit-card debt continues to weigh down U.S. households. Challenging times indeed for consumers and businesses alike. As a business owner, you can’t give them any more reasons not to buy your prod- ucts or services. If your site is not optimized for mobile, people will very quickly leave your site and never come back. If your mobile business site looks cluttered, cramped, or non-legible when viewed on a tablet or smart phone, customers will leave.
