The Powerpoint contains many animations. The Haywain is the most famous of Constable’s painting. It was painted in 1820-21 in his London studio, from sketches in his dairy sketches, observations and reference materials. He knew the place very well, as he grew up here, in Suffolk. His father was a wealthy corn merchant with two water mills and some 90 acres of farmland, around here. The more you look at this painting the more you will realise, how well John Constable told his story. In this late summer day, the empty haywain was to be taken across the field to collect the harvested hay.
