The first shot in the music video is a mid-close up of the main singer beginning to sing the first chorus.
Just like most other rock videos, the identity of the singer is slightly hidden by being 'blacked out' and the
sea behind is in full focus. The atmosphere begins as quite calm – due to the use of the sea in the
background – however changes dramatically as the music changes and the bass guitar gets introduced.
The location of the music video has now been fully introduced, it is in an abandoned place far
away from the busy streets and from other people. This is a common place for a rock music
video to be shot as the abandoned locations seem to be more daunting and eerie to create
that type of atmosphere seen in horror films.

By using close ups of each individual band member allows the viewers of the music
video to see their individuality within the band, it also expresses their facial expressions
clearly by singing directly at the camera they are trying to connect with the viewers to
make them sing along too. The costumes which are used in this music video are
extremely similar to that of other rock music videos – dark clothing seems to be very
popular as it expresses their daunting and eerie side of the song.

This shot reveals the entire band and what seems to be a 'live
performance', which promotes them as a band as the viewers will get to
see the atmosphere they create when they perform so they will want to go
and watch them live themselves. The long shot doesn't just reveal all the
band, it also allows the viewers to remind themselves of what the video is
located at, an abandoned – but peaceful - lake which contrasts to the rock
genre completely.

This particular shot reveals a high angle shot looking up at one of
the main band members with the sun shining just directly next to him
– showing his power and dominance in the music video. The use of
a high angle also allows the viewers to feel like they can possible
idolise this singing artist because they are successful in the music
industry.
